The part about trust with your coach and athlete is so so relevant and applicable to other aspects of your life too. Sometimes consistent practice isn't enough- you need someone that gives you good feedback and knows how to drive you.
this is why coach is important.. but great coach is the best... i train handstand for 2 years and only slight improvement, but once i join a class, then use personal intens coaching.. my improvement skyrocket... even just 2 weeks session
December 2022, World weightlifting championships in Bogota, Colombia, she won Gold again! This is a fantastic video, and I am learning a lot from it. I'm sure I'll watch it another three or four more times.
11:45 i think this is one of the most important foundations in training. it was one of the first things ive learned from watching some older klokov videos where he was explaining that its extremely important to start light and be able to maintain proper form with just the barbell, because some people cannot control the movement with lighter weights. he then proceeded to show the c&j and snatch movements using just a pvc pipe without any flinging or additional range of motion.
13:55 Bottomline is to become a great weightlifter, you have to teach your coach to really want to become an outstanding coach and study very diligently, so I’m now training my coach to get there.
this is why i practise with an empty bar for one year already and other guys from the gym looks at me like i would be crazy or something but they stop because they see how my technique improves (there will be time for heavy weights but FouNDaTIONS first!)
I recently saw a video that featured an interview with gold medalist Shi Zhiyong. He mentioned that at one of his weightlifting clubs in China, new members train for one year with just a bar or even a wooden stick until they develop decent mobility and technique
@@grzesiek1x To an extent. However, if you want to be able to have your body adapt to heavier weights... you have to lift heavier weights. Playing around with 20kg for a year won't do anything for you when it's time to actually feel how heavy weight can be in your hands while over your head. You can't lift 20kg and then expect the technique to carry over to 200kg. Your technique changes when weight is heavier, and the only way to practice getting better at a certain weight is to lift that certain weight over and over again.
@@toximan2008 but I don't expect to carry over 200 kg ! Where did I say that?? I was talking about technique. There will be time for heavy weights but with PERFECT technique and safety for my joints and spine...
This principles apply to any kind of skill mastery. Could be math or cooking. You dont NEED the coach, but it's really nice to have if it's a good one. Main thing is the drive to improve, and that has to be in and from you, not the coach. I became a scratch golfer on my own. Watched better players, asked lots of questions, read all the books, and most of all practiced and kept experimenting. What most people don't do and don't realize the value of is keeping a little notebook. Note down your progress and failures after every session. Further, note down "feels" That's the mental representation. YOU CAN PRACTICE THAT IN YOUR HEAD. Review those notes before the next session. Point here is that the notebook forces you to think about what you're doing and makes you GET SPECIFIC. As you get better, improvement becomes more specific. You've got to want it bad to get great. But you can.
she just won an Olympic gold!

As a CrossFit athlete, I can say that's absolutely true hahaha
Lifting quality > more volume
Interesting that the best CrossFit athletes (Fraser & Froning) are known for keeping solid form throughout the workouts… coincidence? Probably not.
