Interesting process that you guys do! Can the ECU remap be done at home? For example to do Stage 1 which is to convert MINI Cooper S to JCW specs? Can it be done using E-Sys software and modifying ECU components like DME and possible other modules? OR completely different tools/software is needed to achieve ECU remap? Thanks!
Thanks very informative, why did you decide to limit the power to the point you have when other big tuners are seeing 280+ with a st1. Was that purely because its an auto because mine is manual! This engine is in for e.g the 2 series active tourer at over 240 stock. Do you feel this engine isn’t capable of coping with more? Just theres many cars coping with 300+ just with an intercooler! I thought that a diff was the only thing the car doesn’t have that’s holding it back from safely running that power. Again gr8 video but would love to here your views. Cheers
Hi John, thanks for the comment. We did limit the power because of the auto gearbox. You are right this engine is in cars that make 240bhp stock. The BMW 328I is running the same engine and also the same ECU (with similar map structure and architecture). The 330i is running the same engine but uses a different map structure. BMW have launched a 302bhp version but that runs a lower compression ratio to deal with more boost. We have just acquired a B48 engined car for development and have some interesting things in the pipeline. We'll keep you posted.
Great video ! what real world difference is 0-60 will this have ? and is fuel economy impacted much ? I'm picking up a new F56 cooper s next week and considering a map
There is a noticeable difference in the 0-60 time. The fuel economy will reduce if the car is always driven hard or on the track, however for normal road driving many customers have reported a slight improvement.
Good video, thanks for sharing. At 187 brake horsepower, this is the weakest B48 engine I've ever seen tested on a dyno, about 25-30 less bhp than average. Have you noticed a loss in power between pre LCI (2013-2017) and LCI F56 models?
Hi Laurie, problems with pistons melting generally come from engines running too lean. During the development of this map we monitored both the air fuel mixture and the exhaust gas temps (EGTs). We run the car a little richer than the factory sets them up and we have tuned in a way to lower the EGTs on cars with our remaps, so the risk of a piston melting is actually reduced. Just let us know if you need any more info. You are welcome to call us on 01282 779000. Our map writers are absolute geeks and petrol heads. @@BHPUK good day! Yes this too lean/pistons melting is my concern. Do yous have WhatsApp? I will like to chat UP with you & or techs... I have f56/b46 manual. So I've just ordered a new F56 cooper S on Motability and wanted to ask if the remap can be put back to stock when the car is due for servicing or any other work at the main dealer?
Although we do supply tuning boxes, in our opinion a remap is the better option. Reason being that with a remap we can alter as many parameters as we need to achieve a good tune. With a tuning box you are generally limited to 2 or 3 channels, usually injector duty cycle, rail pressure and turbo pressure.
If the map is done properly it’s perfectly safe. The most important factor for the longevity of your car is good maintenance. Use good quality oil and consumables.
Cal, you gave data out for bhp, what were the improvements for torque. Stock is about 207 lbs ft.
Fascinating... thanks.
Thanks for your comment.
Will this work on a brand new f55 straight from factory? I'm expecting delivery in February
yes but voids your 4 year warranty, had enough idssues with mine that im glad I didn't! will do after warranty
@@Jamieip you can get it removed if anything goes wrong with the car they wont know it had been tuned
What are your numbers on the 230i? Has the same engine but runs more than this power as stock.

Most likely cuz 2018 cars has the extra PPF.
Any issues with mapping these? Heard some whispers about pistons melting and has put me off getting mine done a little?

I have a 2017 cooper s diesel auto and have considered getting it remapped but wasnt sure if gearbox would take it.
Hi all of our remaps are custom for the vehicle so our map writers would only increase the output within tolerance of the gearbox.
So I've just ordered a new F56 cooper S on Motability and wanted to ask if the remap can be put back to stock when the car is due for servicing or any other work at the main dealer?
Hi Justin, all our remaps can be removed to put the ECU back to stock.
Is the 2017 car easier to get bigger piwer from a map or tuning box?

Hi there
What’s the price of this time please? (Same car/ same spec)
This tune*
Hi Sorry or the delay in responding. The cost for this tune is £399. That includes dyno runs before and after the mod.
@@BHPUK That is reasonable, great work
