That's a great treat for non dairy kids parties or other non dairy consumers. I would use the marshmallow cream with or without color added for frosting a cake! Thanks for sharing, Chef!
You have fondly brought back a wonderful memory for me!!!! Thank you so very much‼️❣️‼️ My parents bought this at a market for us years ago. Hmm, I’ve got everything but the gelatin and sprinkles..... I’ve gotta run to the market!!!🥰
This is also the way to make boiled frosting. It is very good and it works very nicely on top of all kinds of different cakes and cupcakes and even cookies. Just thought I'd give you that extra perspective. I do love your show. Thank you so much bringing back a memory for me.
Yes I remember these from the 1970’s. They definitely were a thing . I could buy them from my local lolly shop growing up in Mackay in Qld, along with mixed lollies in little white paper bags. Sometimes they were in smaller cones. You weren’t dreaming lol!!
Yes David I remember them well . I was born in 1957 and my mum used to make them all the time as well as chocolate crackles and a slice using a weetbix base with a layer of jam then homemade marshmallow topped with chocolate YUM
You know how loved you are when everyone gushes about how much they've missed you and your posts! Never stop creating and never stop being you. I love your personality and your infections laugh 😄😄 much love from Trinidad and Tobago ❤️
Memories take space, Much like a computer sometimes the junk files need deleting, and the important good memories stay. Don't question it, I'm glad you recalled and shared with us all.
It's funny you posting this recipe exactly on september 27, this is the day we celebrate Saints Cosmas and Damian day here in Brazil, kids go door to door asking for candies, quite like Halloween, and this marshmallow ice cream is a very tradicional candy that people put in little paper bags filled with candies that they distribute to the kids.
Nice to see you back, I'm going to make these for my children, 1980s was a long time ago I remember something like this in the UK, Thank you, for another great recipe
This is a godsend during Covid19 isolation. This is a good recipe for allergy prone kids. This guy's positive attitude is uplifting. Can't wait to whip some of these up for my son!
Yeah! David's back!!!! Thanks for this recipe. I remember buying these ready made, haven't seen them in years. Definitely going to make for the grandkids.
Awww, we had these in stores back in 80s even behind the Iron Curtain, in Czechoslovakia. Same design of cone, filled with beaten jelly; but I really haven't seen them commercially since then. Yet, people are selling the homemade versions on fairs and markets even nowadays. :D Glad to see you back, wishing all the best!
We used to be able to buy these at the store, but they were kinda hard and chewy, these look so much better! I'll try it for the grandkids. Glad you are back, missed you!!!
Yup, when I was a young girl, here in Canada, back in the sixties and seventies we used to buy these at the local convenience store, except they were very small cones about the size of an index finger. For 10 cents you could buy 5 and sometimes 6 or 7 cones (if the store owner felt generous that day and often did!) so, roughly 2 cents each, sold individually. They also had cones with maple sugar (or maple butter but with no actual butter) in them, we can still buy those today. Thank you for the memories 😊
I know I’m a few days late but I tried this just now and oh my it is good. I must say I almost rage quit because it took half an hour to boil but I later realised when I went to turn the stove off that it was on the lowest setting. I tried the marshmallow recipe with the video of yours from years ago with the chocolate Christmas puddings even though it’s not Christmas and they were beautiful aswell. Thank you so much for the lovely and simple recipe.
Oh! I remember these from literally every bake sale in primary school in the UK in the 90's. They were like 20p and I loved them. The strawberry flavoured ones were my favourite.
Yes, you are right. I have had those when I was younger as those were sold at our school cafeteria/canteen. They even have flavored marshmallows: green (mint), pink (strawberry), etc. Then the top is covered with hardened chocolate syrup.
Same in the hi mid to late sixties and early seventies here. They came in the clear cellophane bag. They weren't a huge favorite because we could use marshmallow fluff or marshmallow creme to fill cones with. There is nothing like a homemade marshmallow cone though! :-)
Wizz fizz still does sherbet marshmallow cones. I remember having them in the 90’s and they were awesome. One thing I miss terribly from kids bake sales were the toffees in the little cupcake cases. The only pain was the paper sticking to the toffee 😂
A GREAT childhood memory! My aunt used to own a small general store in 1965 and my cousin and I would sneak the tiny ones (that were $.01!) and hide and eat them! LOL. The BIG ones in the cone as above were $.05 each and were wrapped behind the counter! (away from little crooks). Oh the sugar coated were the best! Yum!
Hey Michael, have you made these with cake mix? Follow cake box instructions for mixing, fill each cone about half full with cake batter and bake per the box (or until a toothpick comes out clean). My mom always iced them with cake icing, but the marshmallow would be perfect too.
Thanks! I am going to try these! I have some little kids in my life that would love these!!! They sell these in stores but they are really small( 2-3 bite minis) however these are way more impressive and I believe they will be very well received by the little ones in my life!
I heard about them along time ago. I never tried them before. Nobody that I know is ever made them before. Thank you for the recipe! I plan on trying them out.
Glad to see you whipping & stirring again! Yummy marshmallow cone recipe! I've honestly never seen this before, must be before my time? Looks yummy though! Byebye🌻🧁
I remember those yummy things! You could get them with sherbet powder at the bottom of the cone too. I have seen them occassionally in shops still but rarely
Thats exactly the same frosting my mother would make for my angel food birthday cake! I always wanted to know how she made it, and now i know! Thank you so much! I love your show! Blessings!🙌
I remember making these for school and church fetes with my kids. Thanks for making and posting this video, as I will make these with my grandkids later today. I'd totally forgotten about these. I remember buying them from the campgrounds kiosk as a kid during the summer holidays. They used to have sherbet powder (like Wizz Fizz) in the bottom of the cone and a hollow licorice straw sticking out of the marshmallow that you could suck the sherbet up from the bottom through, to enjoy mixed together with the marshmallow, but you had to be careful not to choke on the fizzy sherbet. I'm pretty sure as time went by the hollow licorice straw was replaced by just a short piece of licorice sticking out of the marshmallow, and was eventually phased out altogether.
They used to sell some gross marshmallow cones as a candy. I think they still do. But these look much yummier. I’ve also seen people put cake batter in the cone and bake it and frost it to look like a real ice cream cone.
Yeah here in Canada there is lots of different varieties of this recipe. You gave me inspiration to make them with my kids for the holidays. Love your channel by the way.
In Poland those sweets are quite common (they were more common years ago) and it's called "warm ice cream". We usually dip them in chocolate so they have thin chocolate coating :) thank you for the recipe :D
Really good to see you. I didn't even know that we could make home made marshmellows. Those look yummy! I had a couple things pop into my head a while back that I thought my mom just made up. But I looked online and it was every where! Have you ever heard of Cream Egg on Toast? You can also put it over potatoes. It's easy if I can make it anyone can. Lol. This is so cute. I think I'm gonna make some for my grandsons birthday next time. Thanks! 💗

½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
¾ tsp tartaric acid
