    As of 27/1/23
    For people playing on Horizons 4.0 or Odyssey and are doing raw material gathering.
    Be aware that the shards are kind of all over the planet, rather than in small groupings like in previous versions of Elite. They appear in a "heatmap" type thing. You land your ship in the general area of the shard section and use the radar on your SRV to find them. You plain don't get the signal sources to home in on in Horizons 4.0 or Odyssey like you could in Horizons 3.8.

    NOTE on High Grade Emission Method: As I've had to clarify this a number of times you do not just exit to main menu, you must EXIT TO DESKTOP. If you just exit to main menu the HGE won't respawn, if you exit to desktop it will. I also opened a ticket with support to confirm that it is not a violation of the ToS, etc. to exit the game and restart to get materials to respawn and they confirmed it is not. So if you're worried this is an exploit according to those that make the rules you're good to go. Also remember that signal sources have a timer on them and if that expires while you're out of game (as time keeps on tickin', tickin', tickin') then it won't be there when you get back into supercruise.

    The Jameson crash site, log out to Main Menu, then come back as solo works great.
    As for the High Grade Emission method, I think it is considered legit by Frontier support because you can continue to gather after exiting to desktop only as long as the timer on the emission remains. Which is why in the video he suggests that you have 15 min on the timer -- and use the limpets. Otherwise, the cargo scoop method, allows only 2-3 collections in the 15 min timer. I did a 30 min timer last night without limpets and only collected 66 mats.

      I guess you need a relatively cheap ship, because the rebuy cost will equate some mining time (which is the most efficient way to make money).
      For a big ship with rebuy in the millions, that 10 minute trip is worth it.
      Somewhere along the line however, you need to figure out what you want to do. If you are 100% focused on PvP, this kind of guide is great (but remember to buy a cheap ship for the suicide trip). If you are going to travel the galaxy, mapping and taking photos, gathering some of the materials will come automatically. You stop by a geolocial or biological site here and there and do some shooting.
      It is not the _wrong_ way to do it, but it is not the _fastest_ way. And since everything get boring and stressful if you always try peak efficiency, these pauses doing something else is worth it.
      As for cost and time, getting engineering material for missions is pretty expensive, you pay a lot for those materials. Perhaps even more than through the method described in this video.

The game is designed to motivate you to do a little of this, a little of that, and eventually get what you want. But people are impatient and want it all NOW. So they "grind" to hurry up and get everything. Even destroying your ship... now you have to "grind" to get back the credits you spent on the rebuy. Note on the manufactured materials technique, you need to retarget the actual physical Navigation Beacon as you would a a ship after you drop out of supercruise (and it won't be at the exact location indicated by the compass and the navigation targeting), at which point you should see something about a data download in the upper right. This tripped me up a couple of times where I wasn't seeing any high grade emissions, just unknown signal sources.
    And I've also been told that it's not that important to go to the locations laid out at 3:15, but to just go to "boom" state places, as you can always just get good stuff and trade for what you want.

    • @Exigeous
      @Exigeous  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Yes, if you don't see an HGE once you jump to SC head to the next system that fits. I use EDDB.io for that, put in the system type I'm looking for, where I'm starting from and generate a list of systems. You can exit/relog but I don't tend to have good luck that way
      2. Depends on how many you need. If you need less than 16 then yes, find a CDC or Imp Shield, max out and go trade. Generally I'll spend an evening maxing out all my G5s and if by the end of the night (or when I'm just done) if I haven't found Pharmas or Improvised Comps I just trade for what I need.

    Just got back from implementing this new knowledge.
    The Jameson ship is pretty straightforward.
    I used your method for HGE farming and filled up on the high level materials then traded down so everything is solidly in good stock.
    Raw farming... well my own failure caused me some consternation here. I should have just copy/pasted from the info here but I hand wrote HIP 33601 but typed 33061 on my computer note. And strangely while that does not exist, my route planner gave me a destination 1400 ly out. Long flight to find my destination was not there. Self destruct for the quick way home. See my hand written note was 33601. That was only a few hundred ly out and again wrong. Finally do what I should have done originally and re verified with the video. 36601 8^( By this time the night was gone and morning was in fully swing. Had to wait. Next day I made it out to the RIGHT system and there they were! Ran the HIP planets first then bounced to the OUTOTZ ones. Each collected resource gives you 3 so it is actually pretty quick to collect the top level raws. Since I am working on my explore rank as well I just flew home fss scanning on the way and made another 14 mil on collected data.
    Now I have good levels of ALL materials and the knowledge of how to easily procure more whenever I like (well except raws... that takes some time to get there.)
    In summary, Thank you so much for this!

    It's clear that this guide was written before the Fleet Carrier patch! :-) I went in search of these mats and really didn't need to use the FSS to find the planets I needed. I found 48 Fleet Carriers in the HIP36601 system, in orbit around each of the 4 planets like stacks of Pringles, 18 Fleet Carriers in the Outotz System, stacked around the 2 planets there and 41 stacked around or near CMDR Jamesons crash site. A lot of people have a lot of money to spare :-)
    There was one other thing I noticed. It may be a bug or intentional, but I found that with the materials collection, the bin says max capacity 100 but if you go over 50/100 up to 100/100 and log out and back in again, your capacity has gone up to 150. Sadly this doesn't work if the bin capacity is already 150, nor does it work on the data collection from CMDR Jamesons' crash site.

    I might have done something wrong, or maybe the game has changed, but I self destructed and respawned no where near ray station (even though I had just come from there).
    I also lost about 500 mil worth of exobiology data I was holding onto for rep grinds.
    So yeah, don't be a dumbass like me and just take the safe trip back probably.

    This is a great video. I have been playing for a few months now and Ive started unlocking and finally using some of the enginners. I was making list of all I would need to get the G5 blue prints plus some experimental effects. Ive dabbled a bit with the trader and used what materials Ive aquired through missions and mining so far. Thanks for this . This is exactly what I need .

    Just a very helpful tip, there are carriers around these few spots WHICH CAN HELP YOU RESTOCK AND REPAIR YOUR SRV. You don't have to go back to the Bubble in order to repair or restock your ship or ammo to harvest those materials. Just check whether are they for all docking access and you will be good to go. I had to leave HIP earlier cause I was running down to 600 rounds on my SRV and only realized that I can restock my ammo at Outotz.

    • @Andreas_T
      @Andreas_T 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can synthesis SRV Ammo and Fuel with sulphur and phosphorus and repair it through synthesis with iron and nickel. This way you can still use the self-destruct way to get back to the bubble.

    So I traveled to the HIP 36601 system to get raw materials, and as I got there I noticed something weird. I couldn't find C1, C3, C5, or their moons. In fact, I couldn't even find more than one star on the system map,,,
    Then I realized I had accidentally traveled to HIP 33601, around 1700lys away from HIP 36601.
