The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor: Is This The Ultimate Raptor?!

  • The first thing you need to know about the new Ranger Raptor is that it's SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than any Raptor that's come before. In fact, you could buy a Ranger Raptor AND a regular Ranger for the price of a Bronco Raptor. Sure, the Ranger is a different sort of Baja running pickup, but even if you want to spend more on your next off-road truck, selecting a Ranger Raptor as your base platform will leave you a ton of cash for other mods. On top of that the Raptor is the most powerful truck in the segment, one of only two that can carry 4x sheet goods between the wheel wells and it has a huge LCD in the dash. If you care about that sort of thing. Front and rear lockers are standard of course, as is Ford's complete suite of off-roading tech. The only thing not standard? The inevitable dealer markup...

    @Auto Buyers Guide | Alex on Autos: I watched a half dozen reviews on the Ranger Raptor today and this was the best one! You also happened to be driving the best looking truck; Hot Pepper Red with the decal delete.
    You brought up a lot of great points, especially the rear suspension and how it would be a good daily driver. I would love to have one of these!

    Great Ranger video's guys.
    I bought / locked in / put a deposit on a Ranger Raptor yesterday, mine was built 02/23/24.
    ETA mid late April.
    I saw the video of the Lariat model you made the other day and was already trying to figure out something to make the whole taillight light up.
    Very happy to see today's video that shows my Raptor taillight does fully illuminate. That whole half dead taillight on that Lariat is really a very strange design or just simply some sort of cheap cost cutting BS.

    • @jdfleetguy28
      @jdfleetguy28 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shanehegwood7139 I fought the same BS when I was trying to order a Bronco from 2021-2023 when I gave up on the order business and simply went online turned-on alerts for models that met my spec and eventually one turned up for sale that I was willing to buy and ship halfway across the country. This time I skipped the first headache and simply went with my plan B from the start and found 4 for sale that day, granted they are not on the lot yet, but were built and were in the shipping phase. Some were asking too much of a markup and I ended up buying one that was within 4 hour driving distance and we worked out a deal of 2K over. Heard today its ETA window moved up to March 30 to April 5th.
      So yes, it is a unit that is technically still on order, only it was ordered for dealer stock and not special ordered for me. Only option it had that I did not want was the camo sticker package which I will be removing when I get it home.
      With the Bronco order fiasco, the Bronco I ended up buying, I paid 2K over, but by the time my local dealer was able to finally get the allocation needed to enter my order, the prices had gone up another 4K. So, in the end I ended up about 1000-1500 under sticker on what would have eventually been my ordered Bronco. Besides even if I did pay a little too much, I am not very patient, so it was worth it to me to hopefully not have months and months of frustrations with the whole process.

    Alex &/or Travis - I heard a story about how a manufacturer controlled (controls) dealer markup. The story is that Subaru corporate made dealers sign an agreement to not mark up the WRX. If they didn't sign, they got worse allotment (on the WRX and possibly other models too - something like that.) Why don't other brands do this? Why couldn't Ford just tell its dealers that if they want Ranger Raptor's, they have to sell at MSRP?

  • @Jamesthor

    Well, we are almost 4 months into 2024 and I have yet to see one of these trucks nor am I paying a markup for one. Which leaves me no choice, but to look at jeeps, forerunners and Broncos. Leaning towards jeep or Toyota since I can’t find a bronco without a Sasquatch kit locally

Although this is a great vehicle I still question the difference between this and the F-150 Tremor or a used low mileage Raptor. So yes a used vehicle is always a better financial decision, the question still remains, Why buy one of these, especially new for this price with little options considering? I mean the hood doesn't even have hood struts and rear passenger vents, definitely cost cutting measures that aren't warranted for the asking price. I'm day 2 with my 2024 Ranger Raptor and don't even see how you could possibly compare it to anything other then another Raptor
    It's definitely next level from everything else
    I only had a 5k over MSRP but ordered it last May and was the only way to get the dealer too order it
    All other dealers told me they would look into it so
    I've owned a 2019 xlt Ranger
    2020 lxt Ranger and now to the collection the new 2024 Ranger Raptor Nothing Compares Nothing other than another Raptor period!!!

    They could have made this the new ranger . the cost of stamping the fender ,zero . the rear suspension what a couple hundred $ and the decent taillights i put led on my f150 for $150. Just change the engines and interior they could have made them all the same body and they would kill sales . instead they have to milk everyone for every dollar and make "special models" . i dont think there is much call for a small work truck you can just get a f150 .

      @@AAutoBuyersGuidewatch back your video. You say it like it is totally acceptable. In Canada we have laws against this. Most of the G-7 does as well. Yet in the United States it is okay to steal from a customer if you can fake scarcity. This is a major factor causing inflation, yet you act like it is kind of laughable, and certainly expected.

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Re watch the video, we never said it was acceptable, it’s just a fact of trying to buy one. New car buyers are the only ones that can control this. Also, in Canada over MSRP pricing is legal, it’s just less common. Reference:
      “There is no provincial prohibition in Canada on [dealerships] selling vehicles for more than MSRP,” said George Iny, Director of the Automobile Protection Association, an automotive consumer advocacy group based in Toronto.
      Even in provinces with all-in pricing, dealers are generally free to inflate prices above the MSRP - as long as they don’t charge the consumer more than they themselves have advertised, Meador said.

    • @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080
      @fabulousoffroaddesigns5080 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AAutoBuyersGuide well George is wrong!
      Under the Canadian Federal Competition Act, stores can’t sell a product at a price that’s higher than the advertised price. The only exception to this law is real estate. Cars are not real estate.
      I never said, that you said, that it was okay. I implied, that you implied it is okay by the nonchalant way you spoke about it. Just stop talking about it. It shouldn't happen ever, and customers should not buy from companies who do it. I hope the US puts in a similar law prohibiting it.
