- The Canyon and Colorado twins are certainly gunning for Toyota's Tundra in their latest generation, especially the profitable TRD and upcoming Trailhunter models. From Chevy we get the ZR2 and from GMC we get the AT4X as the pinnacle of their mid-size truck line. (not including the special editions, of course). The main reasons to get the GMC over the new Tundra? Power and a locker. The 2.7L turbo engine is notably more powerful than the Toyota 2.4L and Toyota is still refusing to give us a front locker, something you'll find in an increasing number of trucks in America...

That is a very good-looking truck! I dont have $60k to spend on a truck. But, it does look good.
Let's be clear, while this trim is $60k, you can get a lower trim Canyon or Chevy Colorado for a good deal less money. The Chevy starts in the low $30s and well equipped can be had for high 30s to mid 40s. The GMC does have some nice goodies which make it a few grand above the Chevy's price.

Agreed. TH-cam comments are full of complaints from people who pretend trim levels no longer exist and that everyone is forced to purchase the most expensive highest trim of every product.

Still dont get why it costs so much more than the ZR2. Picked my ZR2 up two months ago. Love it.
Those tires are all terrain not mud terrain. It can be confusing as it has an MT designation which stands for Maximum Terrain. Goodyear calls these an All Terrain tire.

Just bought a 2024 Canyon Elevation- I have the car wash roof dent issue and just discovered an oil leak. not off to a good start.
Are you sure you got a roof dent from a carwash? That issue was resolved in the 2024 models, it's not a problem anymore. 2023 only.
@@GRAFHCyep was in it when it happened. The TSB for it was updated last month to include 2024s.
@@joegrahe3958 Very interesting, I've not heard of any 2024's suffering from this problem and haven't been able to find any service bulletins that suggest otherwise either... but I do not discount your experience with it, hopefully GM can take care of it quickly for you!
@@GRAFHCyeah I thought it was limited to 23s as well so it was not a nice surprise (or sound) when it happened. Thats when I went online and was able to find the updated TSB with 2024 and brought a copy to the dealership service director

I would still buy this over the Ford, cause I'm sure Ford screwed something up.

I have a Corolla Cross for heavy weekend off-road, with solid axle swap and 35inch tires and winch it can go anywhere I need to go. And still fuel-efficient. And comfortable of course.
Y’all always trying to compare *gm* products to Ford as if they hold meetings on how they can compete with Ford. This truck has nothing to do with Ford or what the Ranger is offering. It’s the same reason there is no half-ton Raptor competitor from *gm* these people are bored with chasing Ford around the market. That’s what RAM and Jeep are for.
@G-Rated well if you have $60k to spend and you are looking for a small pickup. You are going to be shopping at either a GMC dealer or a Ford dealer, hence the comparison.
Now that the Tacoma TRD pro pricing is out, this is a bargain along with the Raptor. It makes the ZR2 the best value by far.
@@Ride_Runner I’m responding to the “…underpowered Ranger Raptor competitor” part. This truck wasn’t developed to be *gm’s* Ford Ranger Raptor, I don’t think they care enough to chase them around the market. This truck was designed to be a tremendous improvement over the outgoing Colorado V6 and it’s certainly accomplished that. Chevy doesn’t care about anything else outside of improving product which ultimately improves market share and that’s what they’re doing while Ford & Toyota get more and more expensive without actually offering nicer products. *gm’s* philosophy seems to be correct & working.
Alex gives nearly ever car an A range ride grade, and this fella gives everything a C or low B grade. 😂

Why would you buy a smaller truck. You can always load smaller. You can’t load bigger if you don’t have a full-size bed.

Ram u can get full size 20% off . I saw a 1500 diesels $45k or V8 . Of course your not really buying any just here to bicker
@@annamarie5372 You don’t know that. I’m in the market currently. GMC has the best interiors both in comfort and function. I like a grocery store analogy. A gallon of milk is $2.78. A half a gallon of milk is $2.78 as well. Which one would purchase. Trucks are the same scenario, especially with the horrible mpg of the canyon. Get the biggest you can afford in all realms. $60k gets me full size and in reality a Cyber Truck.

Near $60k. Even as a GM guy, I would rather buy the new Ranger Raptor( unless they put a V8 in the Canyon/Colorado!).
At this point, mid size trucks are getting so expensive, I'm just going ng full size. More space, more cargo and towing capacity. And you get a 6 foot bed standard!

@@annamarie5372 doesn’t answer my question. This is the same engine as in the Silverado, and is rated to pull like 8-9k lb trailers. Ford also uses a 2.7 liter engine in their F-150 with much success. So curious what you mean by over-boosted or why you are concerned.

My 1500 Ram 3.0 diesel or the Chev Duramax 3.0 30 mpg . $3.99 gal and 33 gal tank can roll near 1,000 non stop highway
