    Great video and great tips. Interesting way to get the board in off the dock, I will give it a go.
    Good practice on the battery, I usually charge it for an hour, then top it up before I go. One thing is you should disconnect the charger from the power before disconnecting it from the battery if you keep the magnet attached, as you could cause arcs when you disconnect it with current flowing. One way I do this is I actually leave the charger connected to the battery but disconnect the AC, as this also protects the battery terminals from dust and other things getting in.
    When you do install the battery in the Fliteboard, you actually dont need to connect the magnet in the S2, I only have my magnets at home with the charger. When you close the cover it has a built-in magnet to activate the battery.
    If you ever do get stuck without a battery magnet, I have been able to use the MagSafe back of my iPhone or Watch charger to activate it too, anything magnetic will do.

      Great to know you liked the video...greatly appreciated... For some reason once I plug my battery in my board it does not starts sometimes....I have a S2 as well...but for some reason some times I need the key...Also in the end of the controller there is a magnet too...but I just find easier to have the key hanging from the battery...Thank you for the tip on unplugging the charge itself...good idea from to save the connectors from been plugging and unplugging it all the time.
      Please feel free to watch my other videos on my chancel...they might bring you to give me other points of views on how you deal with your board as well...cheers and be safe out there.

    Coach Rolando: You should never feel you need to apologize for long videos. Yours are always filled w/ practical, fun, easy to remember information. The board loading into and extracting from the water via water-level docks and slightly higher docks were amazing & so expertly inventive, yet apparently very safe when done carefully & correctly. Your cautionary notes about entering w/ the board into the ocean break in a way to avoid damaging the lower stem of the mast are highly useful for those first learning and for those who just invested thousands of $$$ for their Fliteboard. Once again, thank you much for your insightful instruction. My best to you. Robby :-)

    Super helpful video. I am foiling now on my Fliteboard and it feels like I’m flying like 10 feet off the water. No videos yet as I’m concentrating on foiling technique. I just leashed a magnet to my battery like I saw in your video and that will make pairing Bluetooth easier than having to close and open the lid. I’ve been wondering how to launch and get out of the water off a dock and you made it very clear in the video thank you. I ordered the nose guard, EVA foam for the tail and floating wrist strap on Amazon, great ideas. Thank you 🏄‍♂️

    great video again. thank you. after two weeks on the water and 10% of your mileage I was watching this video again and noticed the board looking through that beautiful Audi glass roof. :-) I would really appreciate to see how you transport your board. I just spent a week in an apartment 10m away from the ocean and loved it. Now, back home, I'm back to stacking the parts in my car and assembling it at the water.

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you bud...I leave my board assembled all the time...But sometimes depending on the condition I just change the wings...So I keep my board inside the cover laying down on its back at home...Once I go to the water I just put the board on my roof rack and ride to the beach or to the lake..the battery I carry separately off course...However once in a while...like once a month or more... I disassemble the whole set so I can clean it...other then that there is no need to keep it apart all the time...I find this to be the most convenient way based where I leave and the space I have at home...I understand if you live in a apartment that can be hard to do...but whatever suits you bud. Very surprised that your controller doesn’t float! I have two controllers, the first one almost three years old and the second one recently purchased. Both of them do float.

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know bud...it stays up "floating" but slowly sinks ...Now that is in fresh water...not sure about salt water cause one is dense them the other...also...the "all black" color does not help if is floating ... a bright color makes easier to find it...But as I said...the chances of the controller getting out of the straps or the straps getting out of your wrist is minimum.

    Hey rolando nice tips about the dock start.
    That story about the true glide propellor - wow. I use that primarily. Have you considered taking a VHF radio with you on the water?
    The battery - I follow the same steps as you but when I stop charging at two lights I keep the charger connected to the battery but unplug it from the wall. I actually use a outlet switch I bought on Amazon so I don’t have to actually unplug it. I think this keeps the battery in a closed loop that better prevents it from shorts. Not positive - maybe someone can comment on this.
    Thanks for the video!

      I have so many dings on my board cause the ducks...you are always hitting them. The high docks used to be a pain...but once I figure that way it was much easier...Is that how you take it out of the water on tall docks?... I bring my phone inside of the battery compartment or on a "water proof" iPhone bah when I got to far places. Yes the true glide prop had a problem and the shaft was spinning freely...So I only use it for surfing...and I have the original prop on it all the time. That is a good idea...to have the wall dimmer connector...It saves me the constantly monitoring...good idea man...I hope you are enjoying your board...PS...Dont lose that hand controller bud...lol

    • @Fluterra
      @Fluterra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not going to prevent shorting. When the battery is unplugged it will not be any more or less likely to short than when it’s connected to the charger. Actually, you are MORE likely to short the battery if you leave it connected to the charger. But, that is the recommended practice from Fliteboard. Keep it connected with the charger unplugged and the magnet on. That will allow the cells to balance.

      Hello Tom...yes bud...the same battery and the battery still strong...I think it still at 90% to 95%...honestly at first I was doing it all worn with the battery...I would run to basically 5% or just enough to coast back to shore and I would go home...recharge it and go for it again...I did a triple session once but most the time double sessions Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays...I notice that the battery was not behaving the same...so I star doing my research...but once I started doing "my protocol" it has been much better...Im not exhausting the battery as I used to and it is doing great. Once thing I would add up to the protocol is this...Rather then disconnecting the connectors out of the battery, disconnect the charge off the wall leaving the connectors on....That was actually someone here who gave me that tip...That way you don't find yourself wearing and tearing the connectors.... you can also avoid surges and not have a fire problem in case there is a problem with the charger. Great video, very helpful for those of us just getting into this sport. You said the water was 35° F, that’s cold! How thick of a wetsuit were you wearing for these conditions? I used to live in Boston and would go to Nahant beach to fly kites, great area.

    • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoy it bud… I’m only using a 3/2…you only really get in the water for the “take off”… so is only about 30 sec that you are in the water… once you get the speed going you are already in your knees and getting up on the board. Is not like surfing that you are submerged in the water waiting for acreage…The problem is the wind… if your hands and specially your feet gets numb you start loosing control of the board due the sensitive nature of the foil under your feet…Your hands gets numb and you can’t press the trigger as much. So gloves and booties are more important … but if you are wearing a thick bootie does not helps either cause again it it’s sensível nature….I usually wear a neoprene sock… about 1 mm… As long you are a comfortable rider and you know will not be falling as much… the set up I mention above will do the job… I’ve done plenty of surfing and sup surfing in NE and I had the 5/4… it sucks cause you can’t move. Now once gets up to 80s and the water at its 60s I only wear a bating suit… having your feet on the board is the best way to do it. I hope this helps… Are you riding a eFoil as well?

      Thank you…also there is something I did not cover that much about the diff between the both… The controller makes much easy to learn in Fliteboard because you increase the speed gradually with your thumb (you press a bottom and you go faster gradually) Lift you most control your speed with a “feather sensitive” finger trigger… (is natural for you to loose balance and affect your finger control)… it takes longer to get that down. • @Coach_Rolando
      @Coach_Rolando  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello bud...I got to admit that I'm not an expert on electronics...I just ride and beat the crap out of my toys lol...Not sure exactly what you mean about "battery management system"...but I can tell you this...once you finish your ride you can see via your app exactly what you done...you can see how much energy or watts you were using during your ride...when you are riding the battery will tell the controller when is in lower capacity "50%"...then again who you are at 10% and finally the battery will go into "cruise mode" once it hist 10 or 5%...so you have sought juice to get back to shore... Now in terms of recharging it...the charger will turn off once the battery is full and so it will just rest...One thing that I do and is recommended is that after the battery is charged I unplug from the charger and leave it "on" for another 12 hour or more so the cells can level out...Finally I brought it to my annual service where they run test to the battery and they can fix any bug...like if is draining too fast once it drops a certain level, they can also map out the levels of the cells and so on...I notice once I got my battery back from its first service the battery was not draining and loosing power as much as it was when was weaker (before once I dropped to about 30% the battery would lose a lots power and be merry weak) ...after I had the service done the battery stays at the same level during the whole use of it. So I hope I have answered your questions...as I said Im not a tech guy...Im just a happy costumer trying to give you all a fair, honest opinion...I hope this helps and thank you ...stay tuned for more and be safe in the water bud. Cheers

    What kind of noseguard did you put on? I just got my Surfco jumbo nose guard for SUP and it doesn’t look like it fits very well. I laid it on the board and it is sticking up all over the place and I doubt that the glue will hold it on for very long if at all. Please advise I value your opinion.

      That is the same brand I got but mine does not says JUMBO...it says LongBoard....Here is exactly what I got...in green...they make diff colors off course... www.amazon.com/SURFCO-Classic-LONGBRD-Guard-Green/dp/B017WE6ZS2/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2ENKS6NN3M127&keywords=surfco+classic+longboard+nose+guard+green&qid=1650069496&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=surfco+classic+longbrd+nose+guard+green%2Csporting%2C68&sr=1-2 Now keep in mind that you have to find the center of the board first and start from the center them you do one side then the other...I also heated the nose guard with a hair dryer before I glued on so it becomes softer and easier to apply...as I said....I did one side first them I did the other... I was able to do it all by myself ...but having 2 people will be better if you are not too handy....I've been working with surfboards, SUPs and stuff like that my whole life so I just go the tricks down...To be honest it was not easy either...it was def not a perfect fit once I saw it and try to fit it in before I removed the adhesive plastic...but the heating will do the trick and some patience... I'm sure once you heat up the nose guard will make things easier...Also there were parts that it did not want to stick so I used super glue carefully not to stain my board...I hope this was helpful...glad that you are putting the nose guard too...cheers bud.
