As a sound engineer where work is limited to some degree and very competitive given the high financial cost of entry into the industry… jealousy is rife. The best thing you can do in any creative type of work is ignore the naysayers and anyone that’s quick to put you down! 🙂

Karl, sometimes it's a about doing what you love when like brings. You know my journey well it got a massive ✅ on new year when the owner of an event company stopped me and said I know what you're learning let me know when you are ready.🙏🙏.
My grandma always told me that what other people say or think about you is none of your damn business. Do you and never listen to anyone else .Easier said than done especially with social media and the constant negativity of today’s culture. Before you start DJing if you suffer from anxiety, depression, etc. you should think about how the room watches you and your presence or energy can make or break you. I used a mirror in front of my decks and had some basic lighting to get myself ready for this. The mirror will help posture and your overall appearance. Record yourself mixing with your phone to adjust your posture. Moving your feet and dancing around a bit is good practice to get loose and keep your feet from hurting after standing up for 2-6 hours.
Great advice, especially when most of the hate is actually from other jaded DJs. Ive actually got an online troll whos devoted a fake account to try and defame me because i told him no one truly cares how the music is delivered as long as it sounds good! He was rambling on about how digital DJs are fake and the usual infantile vinyl purist bollocks, so i decided to fight fire with fire and made a little parody video taking the piss out of him, scratching some ai samples over a well known meme beat basically saying can a fake DJ do this? The spineless jellyfish went radio silent after that, i dont think he realised ive been DJing for 30+ years and actually started with vinyl then transitioned to digital, the epitome of dont make assumptions in his case. Anyway enough rambling from me just wanted to say great msg, liked and subbed! 👍
ohhhh i never cared as long as the people on the floor were happy i was happy.Of course constructive criticism though not while i work ,is ok.I play music i love and fck what the trends the fashion or the gear others think i should be doing
