I'm playing Gears of War 5 that was released back in 2019. Checking out if there's still people playing playing the multiplayer, and I'll also talk about the game and the franchise as a whole. Especially since a new Gears of War game is about be announced this summer!
Gears 5 is a 2019 third-person shooter video game developed by The Coalition and published by Xbox Game Studios for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It is the fifth main installment of the Gears of War series and the sequel to Gears of War 4. Gears 5 follows the story of Kait Diaz, who is on a journey to find out the origin of the Locust Horde, the main antagonistic faction of the Gears of War series.
The Ultimate Edition for Gears 5 was released on September 6, 2019, while the standard edition of the game was released worldwide on September 10, 2019. Gears 5 received generally favorable reviews from critics who praised the gameplay, campaign, presentation and amount of content, but criticised the story and overall lack of innovation.

Gears 5 was good for the lore. The locust orgins was really needed. Was pretty medicore beyond that though.

Hope more jump in and play since E day was announced. I’m enjoying mouse and keyboard too much to even go back to the sticks(I’m already washed tbh) downloading it today from the Xbox app on pc and hope to play some games tomorrow. I really enjoyed close quarters shotgun battles back in gears 2 but mostly 3.

Nice to hear that! Yes, I still play Dirty Bomb once in a while. Small community, but it's still there thanks to community servers.
Horde mode when the game launched was really bad with characters locked to a specific class and “no duplicates” aka one Marcus per game and only one of that class per game.
People would only have a limited amount of options back then too so people who could not play the class they wanted would quit and look for another game.
When they removed the stupid limitations and made it like GOW 4 horde it was so much better.

This game is one of the best multiplayer games I've played but high ping has been an issue for years. Hope this issue doesn't repeat in Gears 6.

They want them to add things to switch up multiplayer but when they do they criticize them - gears of war fans in a nutshell
I guess there will always be opinions and sayings about these things. Some guys are indeed hard to please :)
Call of duty multiplayer is the same repetitive stuff too. I prefer gears of war any day
That's true, most games if played a lot, starts to feel repetitive to a certain degree :)
If they had just kept the story formula of the original trilogy it could have been amazing. Instead we get a 90 lbs girl with ptsd and gets migraines calling the shots and going toe to toe with super mutants that the biggest strongest humans have trouble fighting. I miss the OG squad just kicking ass and cracking jokes. I hate how they turned JD into an asshole too while making Del the super supportive great guy friend. Lame. I still enjoyed the game, played couch co-op with the girlfriend and a couple times through solo. Horse mode was amd still is awesome. So is escape. But bad story.

No, Gears of War :) Or Gears 5, to be precise. The franchise has been around for a very long time. The first three games in the series are the best. I guess my favourite is Gears of War 3.

Gears 5 was just....dude the story sucked i dont have to list reasons why. The mp was a mess people barely touch the mp or horde anymore and if they do they go for the old games. All i can say is have vodka in hand with friends for gears 5 if playing in 2024
Thanks for your feedback! And yes, if you've played former Gears games, especially the first 2-3 games, then you'll probably get disappointed when playing GW5. I still enjoyed it to a certain degree, but it doesn't match up with the older games. I therefore hope they will be able to make a good new game (GW6).
Im gonna give the best honest review of Gears Of War 5 to everyone.
The game is just honestly not scary
As your can see if you played 1,2,3 of gears of war the game is actually scary introducing jump scares and a lot of blood and killing monsters that don’t SPEAK 🗣️
Over all I don’t gotta make a list of how bad or what’s bad in the game of Gears of war 5. When I first played gears of war 5. Obviously we played as JDFENIX BUT AS SOON AS WE ARE SWITCHED TO PLAY AS A FEMALE CHARACTER NAME KAIT

Note: if you don’t believe this game is trash. Look at all the players who had a decision to sacrifice JAMES FENIX OR DEL. THE FACT THAT PEOPLE CHOSE DEL TO LIVE AND LET JAMES DIE. AFTER WHAT MARCUS BEEN THROUGH. It’s purely insane I mean Marcus lost his wife,his bestfriend and now people get to make a decision to even lose MARCUS FENIX SON. i mean come on that’s his son. His last family besides baired and Cole. Anyway to the people who let JD DIE AND LET DEL WIN you are no better honestly. The game is pure trash and didn’t even care about Marcus FENIX. After everything he’s been through. Game is trash. Oh one more thing no their should not be a gears of war 6.
For the love of god just make a remaster spin off series of just Marcus FENIX gears of war 1,2,3.
