I think Ubisoft kinda forgot that far cry is supposed to take place in a land the character isn’t used to at all like how Jason wasn’t really familiar with the islands,it’s kinda why it’s called “far cry”
@@ghost3d474even though you're the main character that can't talk in fc5 you still can't help but feel like you're really out of your element when it comes to all this cult stuff especially in the beginning. This makes it interesting and engaging and oddly enough you'll even be agreeing with some of the points they bring up and jamming to some of the cult music which will make you feel like you're out of your mind because you're agreeing with a cult. 😅
@@ghost3d474 you and @TruePhoque clearlyt dont understand this..because neither of you are even making a good point here...the point of far cry is being a character unfamiliar to the land he is in..having to fight for his lief..in fc5 you LITERALLY ARE A FUCKING COP FROM HOPE COUNTY..you aint getting used to the place..cause you have always been from the location..so your argument doesnt work in the slightest...being cut off from everything outside doesn't mean anything..so your entire comment is invalid, the fact this truephoque actually replied "Exactly this" made me laugh with cringe
It's funny how the secret ending is the best canon ending of Far Cry games. I waited for Pagen Min and was able to get to complete the whole point of the game.
If I remember it correctly, Far Cry 4's director once said that even in his opinion that secret ending is the canon ending since it'd make more sense from every perspective lol.
Vaas: goes absolutely mad when interacting with the character. Pagan Min: is clean with his brutality when interacting on the phone. Joseph Seed: interacts with the character every time he goes into a new region and blows shit up. Castillo: let’s go golfing, let’s go golfing.
A little more deep into it would also have Vaas: a deep connection with Jason because they're pretty similar, Vaas show that the whole trip to the island changed Jason forever as a person, the ending where you k*ll your friends probably mean Jason embraced the insanity and stop fighting it Pagan: Ajay literal family, Pagan treat Ajay like a son and truly care for him, tho his action might be bad but seeing both ending Pagan doesn't even look that bad anymore and if you just sit tight the game end with Pagan and Ajay joining force Joseph: Intimidating even tho he doesn't even try to and the intro totally make you feel hopeless one of the best introduction to a villain (that feeling when you think they're going to send reinforcement and you get a game full of chaotic gunfight suddenly turn into a semi survival horror game where you're stuck in this country fighting brainwashed people), and the ending have you joining force with him that lead to New Dawn Story where he graduate from being a villain
But without the fun of just cause, it has both a serious progression yet boring one man army gameplay. It takes forever to get strong yet gameplay are just soo easy. It those not click.
My favorites were Juan because I like his type of character in all media, Jonron and Yelena and Yami because they're hot, and Bicho because I found him to be a lovable idiot. The rest I either felt nothing for (I cared about Dani less than the protagonists from FC5 and New Dawn) or hated (like 2/3 of Maximas Matanzas and Philly).
I'll never forget the fat kid (forgot his name) getting so upset that Bembe keeps trolling and getting in the way of Dani so much. He goes out of his way to try to kill him. Only for Bembe to shit talk him to his face and make the fat guy want to kill himself. And Dani, The Player. Having to drive ALL THE WAY to help the fat guy. Tells him to not kill himself. And then LETS BEMBE GO The games writing, and characters is something out of sci Fi level bad
Stupid RPG mechanics and ammo system that removes heavy enemy type. Not enough dangerous animals. Game was too easy. Tone was too funny and unrealistic, half of the game was serious, half was funny. Felt like Saints Row combined with Far Cry. Third person cutscenes remove the power from the villain yelling in your face. No map editor. 7/10
Ah, the map editor's absence was a massive hit. Although I didn't include it in the video, I still think about it from time to time. It's one of those things that keeps adding to a game's value and the lack of it is just baffling to me, especially with how good the editor from Far Cry 5 was, it's weird that Ubisoft didn't want more people to invest time in Far Cry 6...
"Saints Row" sums it up perfectly. I hate how goofy in tone Far Cry has become over the years. I want Ubisoft to start taking the franchise seriously again.
All great points. I agree with the third person cutscenes, it feels like you are watching the antagonist talking to someone else, but when it’s first person, it feels like he is talking to you. Also I hated how many jokes were in the game. One minute the game is serious, then they start joking, then get serious, then joke: Lastly, I almost forget animals were even in the game. Besides crocodiles, well, that’s all.
I didn’t have a problem with Anton’s lack of representation, he’s running the country and doesn’t have time to chase me down. But having Admiral Benitez was dumb, they try to portray a FASCIST REGIME that has a WOMAN in charge of the entire navy. What I didn’t like about this game was that it’s clearly trying to be a commentary on Cuba, but they swapped communism with fascism yet didn’t even do a convincing job of portraying fascism. Anton’s FASCIST regime is somehow so progressive that they’re perfectly fine with having a WOMAN as their Admiral of their entire navy, but they draw a line at trans people existing. Ubisoft doesn’t know what fascism is
No one these days knows what fascism. Most people especially companies like this think authoritarian = Fascism. The complexities of fascism are honestly too much for smooth brains like ubisoft and it annoys me everytime media tries to portray it
I don’t think a tenet of fascism is female exclusion, but you are correct that they swapped a communist regime for a fascist one, and portrayed communists in a positive light. It’s quite literally because members of the dev team are outspoken communists and cultural marxists.
In Italy right now we have a fascist government and the president is a woman, don’t get stuck with your 1940 cliches ideas that you have seen in the movies. Dictatorships can be hidden anywhere
Fascism relies on equal oppertunity and meritocratic militarism. Sorry if that's a mouthful. But basically, not all fascist regimes adhere to the idea of women not serving.
The not so subtle virtual signalling and ridiculous character development was cringe, i tend to look past it but the story was so awful and uninspired I ended up turning it off after around 30 hours.
I agree with you on not patching the game with QoL updates. I think they didn't bother updating the FSR version or even adding up DLSS to the game on PC...
0:40 I see it the complete opposite way. Whenever I see a game reveal a well known actor as one of it's characters I automatically assume it's a marketing gimmick. The developer doesn't think they will entice people with the actual game so they're like "Hey! Member Breaking Bad? Member Better Caul Saul? This will be good too!". I like more when for example Rockstar takes lesser known actors or not even actors at all and focus on the actual game.
Well, there are cases where famous actors were cast too. GTA Vice city did it, GTA SA did it, and other than Rockstar Games, major developers like Kojima Productions (both when it was under Konima and when it became independent) created some of the most memorable characters using famous actors such as Keifer Sutherland, Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, and more. There are other video games with famous celebrities playing an important role such as CoD, Cyberpunk 2077, AC, and more. The cases where actors' potential wasn't wasted are many actually.
@@TheTrueSeal Apart from rockstar the rest of ur mentions added nothing by having celebrity cameos, Norman Reedus, Idris elba in cyberpunk, kiefer Sutherland, all could have been done by someone else ans the game be the same. Kiefer Sutherland objectively made it worse by being a voice
I had only three issues with it: the fact that when you ran out of ammo you couldn’t pick up the last bad guy’s gun and keep shooting, the fact that you in a town, equipped with a grappling hook, couldn’t grappel on to all the hundreds of railings and rooftops that littered the game and that they missed the opportunity to let the player take advantage of the fact that little chorizo brought tools with him. The fact that the map was large and not completely jampacked seemed reasonable since it was a country this time instead of that small region that was Kyrat which was supposed to be an entire country. I also think games sometimes need to evolve in more than just graphic and FC6 was not the best game in the series but hopefully they take with them what did work and let go of what didn’t.
These are some interesting things you brought up. I totally agree with you on the gun problem. Like, why can't Dani, a guerilla, pick up weapons from ground? Wasn't Juan screaming the alphabet of being a guerilla fighter from the beginning of the game? And the grapple hook reminded me of how clunky the "supposed" parkour mechanic of the game is which forces the player to jump and grab ledges from certain angles... Sometimes doing those mini platformer missions where you have to follow the treasure route could become extremely painful... So yeah, they really should have utilized the grapple hook more than just using it in convenient locations.
@novak_sm made on the same engine as farcry 2 but a downgrade. Not the only series that got a downgrade after the first game. I'm think of red faction with that where in the first game everything even the ground was destructible, but from the second everything but the ground was destructible.
I'm still trying to figure out how it's the most visually stunning & mechanically smooth Far Cry to date but I am unable to remain engaged in the world. *I've played and beat them all, except 6...*
This could be due to multiple reasons. From story and setting to how poor the writing is. Also, when a game is mechanically advanced, but it doesn't utilize that stuff in a proper way and instead makes the player ignore almost everything from the beginning, it becomes hard to stay attracted to the game for a long time sadly...
@angcil88 2 days ago I re-installed for the 8th time(yup) hoping that I could find something to reel me in but 10 minutes into play time yesterday and I paused to swap weapons, then ended up playing Pokémon Go. 😂
Burnout from playing the same game over and over again I played 3 and then jumped into 6 a few months later and man it was a slog because it was just more of the same thing with a prettier coat of paint and a lot more micro transactions
No one talks about how far cry 3 falls off real quick once Vaas dies half way through the game. I’ve been going through all the far cry games and really the gameplay engages me more than the story. I’ve enjoyed all of them so far.
Indeed, gameplay was always more important in those games, but at least they always had a decent story with meaningful stuff. However, Far Cry 6 throws all of that stuff out the second it lets you play the game sadly. Also, I believe that Far Cry 4 made everything good about Far Cry 3 even better and it's a stronger entry in the series in general.
The reason Castillo barely knows Danny exists and focuses on Clara is the whole "Girl Power to the Max" thing Ubisoft has been stuck on since Assassins Creed Odyssey. They had to make Clara the star of the show to make sure that whatever gender the players chose(and they damn well knew what gender the vast majority would choose), an Ultimate Girlboss would be the real star of the story.
My problem is that He knows about other factions too. Even in some scenes he is completely aware of Dani's character but in the rest of the game, he acts as if Dani doesn't exist!
@@TheTrueSeal Makes sense that Antoine would have a focus on every faction leader but Dany. Each of the other factions were all lead by a girlboss too. Except for the one that was split between girlboss and transboss. The farmers were all about setting up the blade chick as the girlboss star, and the Matanzas faction was the girlboss/transboss duo. And by far the worst, most non-sensical quest chain of the game. The only one I liked because at least it had comedy was El Tigre's faction....so naturally they killed him off so we could focus on the Zoomer Squad lead by...you guessed it. Another girlboss. And of course Tigre's team got taken over by the cranky geriatric girlboss. Ironic that the Tigre quest line killed the only girl in the whole damn game that I found genuinely likable. Typical Ubisoft playbook for the last decade. They were gonnas make abso-damn-sure that whatever gender choice the players made, the girls...even the girl with a mustache...were gonna be driving the story. Can you think of another reason why Dani seemed so unimportant to Castillo for most of the game? Awesome female protagonists are not new to gamers but these cringe AF girlbosses? I'm over it. It's to a point now where I just assume any female on screen...especially if it's Ubisoft...is gonna be the cringiest girlboss who ever girlbossed a girlboss. These clowns ruining gaming are even retroactively breaking once-great heroines like Lara Croft. The gaming industry layoffs are not a problem. They're a solution. But we still got years ahead of us before any semblance of normalcy and quality returns.
@@mncrft3386 I'm now left here trying to comprehend the sheer effing ignorance it takes to think there was EVER a lack of women existing as protagonists in video games. Now i'm trying to imagine the level of sheer effing idiocy required to publicly declare one's own ignorance on that subject. It's gonna take a while for me to process the sheer volume of data in both scenarios. I'll get back to you with a proper response once i'm done.
Also the removal of the map editor. The map editor is what made Farcry special and creative and a hell lot of more fun., they kept yapping about the fact they wanted replayability in farcry 6 but the map editor WAS the replayability
Trans Person to Dani, who has just witnessed her entire family been murdered by military regime committing genocide, so she undertakes a mission to try save the rest of the population from the regime 'It's hard being trans in Yara'. The most pathetic writing i have seen in any video game, and Ubisoft has massive budgets. Outrageous.
We get it. You are a backwards pig who hatws trans people. No jeed to get so triggered every time you see a trans character, snowflake. This is why everyone thinks you are a backwards, uncivilized primative who spends all day playing bidja games instead of contributing to society. Grow up, leave your segregated, elite gated neighborhood, and get a real job, snowflake.
Takes a special kind of incompetency to have Giancarlo Esposito in your game as the main antagonist and somehow making him forgettable. Only Ubislop is capable of doing so.
Here’s what I didn’t like about it. 1. The RPG mechanics. I don’t want a leveling system or gun levels or any of that crap I just want to use what I like without worrying about what level gear it is an effectiveness on enemies, 2. I thought the backpack weapons were lowkey lame. 3. The fact there was a whole city in the open world and you couldn’t really do much in it like take vehicles and aircraft in 4. The removal of far cry arcade. 5. The graphics in my opinion look worse than far cry 5. 6. The story was kind of forgettable which is a crime when you have Giancarlo as your main villain. 7. The gameplay felt clunky. If I had to guess I think it’s from the rpg mechanics whereas far cry 5 was much smoother. And 8. I think the open world was kind of forgettable and I didn’t really need a central hub area. Also I guess 9. A lot of the gear and weapons were lame anyway. One positive thing I have to say is the stranger things dlc was kind of cool. I just wish we got to fight more enemies from the show in it. But I had a good time with that expansion.
That's a fair list. I agree with it completely. I think the RPG mechanics are a reason to artificially elongate the gameplay time and force users to either quit or buy microtransaction which is a shame tbh...
i think its also the base enemies in this game that make it feel less like a far cry, in previous games, the pirates/peggies all had this sense of ferality and lawlessness about them, even with the Kyrat royal army seem to be nothing more than undisciplined thugs that just happen to have standardized uniforms and weaponry. For these enemies, these characteristics make them feel like a natural element of the dangerous unfamiliar wilderness you have been dropped into. With Far Cry 6, the FND is a professional and properly regimented military, which makes them lack the lawlessness of the previous enemies, which removes that sense of them being an almost feral threat.
That's an interesting point as well. All of that comes down to the fact that Yara isn't an uncharted/wild location and is more civilized (compared to the previous games)
Lack of real progression system is the only problem I have with this game. A simple skill point system would have made this game so much better instead of constantly changing gear depending on situation.
Far cry 5 is better. Better story, characters are likable and the damn loading screen with villains with their quotes and the music omg. My first far cry I finished and had fun with it. Ubisoft should focus more like those type of games with good story telling about cults etc.
Thank God I'm not the only one who feels far cry 6 didn't feel like far cry. And when i see people saying that they've enjoyed far cry 6, im like damn ....
At first the game acts like everything from the older games is preserved and upgraded to the next level (as it should have been in the first place) but everything takes a quick turn, and the game tells the player that all the things you enjoyed from the older games are "almost" gone and now you have to deal with some misplaced RPG mechanics...
I actually really like Far Cry 6, the ammo mechanic was really fun. I always loved using the gas ammo then switching to the fire ammo to blow people up. There’s also this dune buggy thing that a transform into a plane that’s extremely fun to drive. There’s this one companion that’s like a black Panther that’s straight up overpowered and the best one in the game. Granted maybe i just love slop because 4,5,6 and blood dragon were all very enjoyable to me.
I’m enjoying it, but I care more about gameplay than story or characters, so I like this more than games like a plague tale requiem or hellblade senuas saga, which are all about telling a story and have weak ass gameplay.
When Far Cry feels like Far Cry, people complain that it's the same game with a different skin. When it doesn't feel like Far Cry, people complain it has lost its way. 😂
Bembe, el doctor, and Mckay were probably the best enemies. The naval woman was pretty ruthless, seeing the bodies on buoys was pretty cool, but they all needed more time.
The weird jump to third person at friendly camps was completely unnecessary. Also, having throwing knives assigned to a particular supremo only sucks. They messed with the formula too much.
i enjoyed the voiced protagonist, huge weapon selection and gunplay but the clothing system, ammo system....felt useless. most of the characters were annoying too and i prefer the perk tree. map was nice but too big..felt really empty at times
What made those villains very threatening was the fact we get see them through a first person perspective. It made us feel threatened and vulnerable. The confrontations kinda made it personal too. I was very disappointed when I realised the cut scenes were in third person. It would've been amazing to see his performance in first person!!
@@TheTrueSeal Agree. Far Cry 5 has me returning because of the story and the Father. They also nailed the environment and it feels like you're in a small valley in Colorado.
@@bogrunberger Oh yeah, the environment in Far Cry 5 is one of the best in the series. It actually helped the game a lot to feel much different than the previous games while retaining that uniqueness of the franchise!
One thing that made this game not feel like a far cry game for me was the switch to regular cutscenes from first person cutscenes. The idea of first person cutscenes is to make you feel that each character is talking directly to you and not to the character you are playing as. It takes away a lot of what makes the villain intimidating like for example, the eye contact. What made Pagan, Vaas and Joseph intimidating is the eye contact. They are talking to us through the eyes of the protagonist. FC6 took away all that in favor of generic cutscenes.
I acually liked "Far Cry 6"....it was a new change from the normal "Playing Against Two Warlords"narrative that catapult the series to stardom....It was the first game based on latin Caribbean guerilla warfare since rhe "Just Cause" games....the story fell kind of short but what makes up fpr the story was the blowing up Shyt & taking over military bases by liberating checkpoints, taking out Anti Aircraft weapons, & every so often explore the island of Yara hidden history side quest....i was truly let down i couldnt kill "Castillo" at the end ....it would of felt sweet to finally take him out for "Litta" that led to her death.....Also, i didn't care for the animal side kicks cuz i spent more my time to recessing them from near death than me going solo & go for my run & gun taking out enemies myself swiftly..... Ultimately this was a cook game...I love cruising around Yara listening to spanish music even thought i have no clue what the songs about...i loved the "Informant" latin remake song though....But its safe to say "Far Cry 3" is the pharoah of the series...... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Glad that you enjoyed playing the game! The biggest downside of the gameplay is that it actively tries to make every mechanic seem pointless... I mean, the developers have spent some time creating them; to be fair, they are fairly decent too. So why do other mechanics make them feel pointless? While we can say: "Just ignore using some of them and try making the game harder or better for yourself", it won't fix the problem with the game's core mechanics! Also, I totally agree with the story points you mentioned.
I think the only character I actually enjoyed in the game was Diego. and that's because you didn't really know what he was going to do. he had sympathy for both sides, cared about his father, but also resented being stuck in his shadow. I thought the ending was going to be either Dani dies, or surrenders after killing Anton, and it would leave Diego the undetermined choice to either stop the tyranny or follow in his father's foot steps. then do the thing in far cry 5 where they gas light you and say "yay you won, now explore the world" after you beat the game. but no, they kill him off at the end, and completely waste him. and since his character doesn't do anything important besides have that conflict, you probably could have just written him out entirely and changed nothing. which makes his sole purpose to be a giant disappointment.
The alternate ending is not only canon because it makes common sense, but because the game is not as personal as other Far Cry games. Your two friends, the only people you can trust on the entire island, are dead. One of them for attracting the attention of the ARMY and the other for being involved in a shooting. The game gives you no reason to continue staying on the island once you get a boat, and the guerrillas know how to handle it. While in other Far Cry games, like in 3, you had to save your friends and later your younger brother, or like in 4, where you had to find out how your father died, in 6 there is no point in continuing to get involved in this whole war.
agreed. they should've just cut the maximas matanzas region entirely and used those resources on fleshing out esperanza and the other two regions more. good video!
Yeah, I think that region was just added to make the game longer. At the end it did make the game longer but at the cost of ruining the story furthermore and making the map unnecessarily huge. Thanks for watching the video!
The stupid backpack, no skill tree, skills locked behind whatever gear you're wearing and not enough of Castillo are the first things I can think of that make it not feel like Far Cry.
I think the lack of moral conflict is what made me drop it. FC3 left you wondering whether Vaas or Jason is the one truly insane, FC4 made you question Sabal and Amita's motives and wonder if you're really the good guy in the story. This moral conflict is weaker in FC5 and completely non-existent in FC6.
I won't go through what's been said in the comment, but far cry is all about the environment 1st. And what was immerging was the presence of animals in Far Cry 3 and 4... we were constantly in danger between the main story and the credibility of the open world
It's concerning how nobody realizes that Giancarlo's villain Anton isn't even in the actual game but only in cutscenes. They just used him to advertise their game and rushed this game to get it out using him as to hype up their crap.
@@BLET_55artem55 I agree with you, but part of that is due to how old those games are and mostly, how different they are structured compared to anything past Far Cry 3.
@@TheTrueSeal yeah. FC 1 was developed by Crytech and is pretty much a completely different game, only related with others via it's title. FC 2 is more-or-less the "classic" FC with the everpresent antagonist, violence, chaos, end betrayal and (obviously) meaningless choices (which is good for the overall feeling of the game). The only major differences are the gray moral of the story (at the end of the day everyone is just as bad as eachother) and the lack of ToWeRs AnD oUtPoStS. But yeah, it is very different in the overall tone and is more similar to Spec Ops tL, so I kinda get why it's left out. Still sad it's not talked about more
When totality of the game falls too short in terms of entertainment value, then gamers become very critical of everything in the game. If the overall experience is good, then the flaws in the game seem trivial\unimportant. It really more how all the game elements work together than the individual elements. It is like watching a movie with bad acting and plot holes, if the movie is entertaining, nobody cares about what is bad about it, because overall the movie was worth watching.
I think what makes Far Cry 2, 3 and 4 so special is how it portrays these lawless environments and how humanity can become corrupt within them. Between the Jackal, Vaas, Buck, Hoyt, Citra, Jason, Sabal, Pagan Min, and Amita. Nearly everyone in these games is a bit crazy. This definitely applies to 3, where everyone, in some way, has been corrupted and has found a vice to fulfill the hole left by their lost humanity. That's what makes Citra the most dangerous antagonist in the series. She's like Joseph Seed, using her cult of personality to corrupt and breed Jason into the warrior she wants him to become. Embracing the jungle, and the violence. These games show how easy it is to go too far in war, more specifically guerilla. Like how Sabal decides to follow his cultural heritage even if it's bloody or how Amita is willing to go into the drug trade and child labor. This central theme ties the violence to the humanity and the culture of our characters and even our protagonists for 3 and 4. Which was sorely missed in 5 with the Deputy being generic. The same also applies to 2 but that plays into a more specific theme. These games handle very dark themes and settings but protray them in a digestible light for the casual audience. That's whats missing from Far Cry 6 not Far Cry but more like Just Cause.
I, a fan of the series and buyer of ALL prior FarCry Games since 1, til FarCry 5 and all its SideGames in the series, was a sucker for these. But the RPG Elements, omg how do i explainz it simply.... A bullet in the head should kill my target... not the small or heavy armor on certain weapontypes, at moonlight, when wear XY Armor from the shop.... The gameplay of the game suffered from creative directions... and im not nearly blind enough, to see Ubisoft trying to use Big Names in the movie villain theme in newest games, to downplay the gameissues... Edit, after i watched more of the video: FarCry 6 is the worse version of JustCause Game Series ... Edit, after full Watch: JustCause sequel said by u, made me smile :D
Hey thanks for watching the video! I totally agree with you and just like yourself, I played and enjoyed every single entry in the series (I thought Primal was one of the best games in the series, although it sits in a different league compared to the mainline games). The (not so) recent trend of making everything RPG hurt this game in an unimaginable way. I like the idea of having multiple ammo types, but they should have implemented the mechanic better... I'd actually use them against trucks, tanks, and choppers and not soldiers if it was a more thoughtful mechanic! This game has so much lost potential that it's just baffling to think about it...
I think far cry 6 is a perfect example of 1 step forward, two steps back . I loved the setting , characters, the guns , having a voiced main character, the mini games (we needed more cock fighting ) , graphics , “base building “ , the feel of riding horses , and of course the greatest amigo in gaming “Chicharron “ . However the back packs and tying SO MUCH to them was a mistake. Besides the fact that they look ridiculous, they make you constantly pause the game or visit work benches to switch things up where as before you could count on having certain perks no matter what (chain take downs , holding more ammo , etc ) . I felt that using different ammo types was stupid . It really killed the rhythm if a shoot out to have to constantly switch in the middle of a shoot out to soft target or armor piercing ammo . The switching “equipment “ (shirts, pants , gloves etc ) was a good idea but shouldn’t have been tied so much to perks . You should be able to assign a special perk to the whole set (say slower enemy detection) but having 14 pairs of gloves that “improve how long you can hold your breath “ is annoying . I’m not going to mention all the “live service “ stuff because that’s obviously a big negative. What far cry needs to do is start implementing elements of far cry two and 4 into the worlds of 5 and 6 . They also need to cool it a lil with the animal friends . Having a dog or panther makes some kind of sense , but the primary “allies “ should be human characters you get to know and learn about . I also hope they get away from making every game a showcase for the villian and start putting more effort into the hero of the story .
I absolutely love your take, especially the part where you mentioned that Ubi should combine mechanics from Far Cry 2 and 4 with 5 and 6's world. That sounds like the ultimate Far Cry game to me!
@@TheTrueSeal I think that aspects like your guns getting jammed or degrading in 2 or the more interactive aspects of 4 gave the game a more grounded and realistic feel . I don’t think guns should have a set life span like the gun will degrade no matter what but it should be where if the gun gets dirty or you are constantly firing it , the gun should degrade and possibly break forever . But on the flip side you should be able to do a “quick clean “ out in the field that is a temporary fix and a more in depth cleaning/replacement at camp that basically makes it like new . Same thing with certain vehicles. I personally would KILL to see a far cry set in Nazi occupied France or Europe . You could be a resistance fighter who has to constantly wage brutal gorilla warfare using hit and run tactics . Setting it during the 40’s would allow you to keep some technology like planes , radio , machine guns tanks etc and old world stuff like horses , bow and arrow , throwing knives and explosives, but would remove the more cartoony “hovercrafts with bazookas” or “go cart that also flies” . Think of inglorious bastards/ministry of ungentlemanly warfare meets battlefield bad company . Plus you could do some amazing nazi villains .
@@GarrettWebster-mx5wx Oh, that sounds superb! In simple terms, Far Cry needs actual survival mechanics with a grounded feeling and a serious world and story. I'd love to see a spin-off game set in that setting to be honest!
I decided to come back to this because i have another gripe with this game. Yes, the alternate ending is the better ending, but I'm gonna get more political about it. The mental gymnastics to justify why America is no better than Yara pissed me off as an American. There's people that are willing to risk their lives to get here, and those lucky ones that do make it are the most hardworking goodhearted patriotic people you will find. Saying that America is no better than some fictional fascist shithole country is a slap in the face to all our immigrants, especially all those who fled the Castro regime in Cuba (especially the ones who have died along the journey), Venezuelans and all the other Latinos, the Haitians, Africans, Iranians, Ukrainians, the Afghan interpreters that are still trying to get here but are trapped by the Taliban. Stocking grocery store shelves in a free country is so much better than living in a shithole dictatorship. A better way to make the decision to stay harder would've been an appeal to Dani's ego. Clara could've told Dani "sure, you could puss out and run to America, but you'll be a nobody there. If you stay and fight, you'll become part of Yaran history and be remembered forever." Putting it that way, its harder to say no to. Or they could've kept the lore of the previous two games going and America isn't an option to flee to given the whole nuke thing.
Interesting world view. Although, to be fair Clara did say something like "Nobody wants our Yaran blood in their country. Stay and fight for your home Dani". If I remember it correctly. But yeah, in Far Cry 6 everything is either extremely poorly written or super light-hearted as if it's a small matter...
They can change things and keep the identity and core of the game intact. Have you ever seen the GTA series abandon its core mechanics in favor of bland mechanics that contradict one another constantly?
As others state, you can and should change things up. Especially improve and expand mechanics that worked well. But if you change the core mechanics of a game series the game is loved for, you shouldn't be surprised if people are unhappy.
Honestly i bought this game approx. a year ago cuz it was on sale for like $8 and i didnt watch any reviews or anything, played it for like 3 missions and honestly got so bored and uninstalled the game I know some people will think its an unfair judgement but being used to far cry 3 and 4 which imo was the prime era and what far cry is really about, this felt like a very generic shooter game with an annoyingly large map (especially at the beginning of the game) And for some reason stealth was pretty difficult, maybe this is a skill issue on my part, however the entire bullet sponge concept was so noticeable and put me off the game so much I know its impossible, but i wish they bring back that far cry 3-4 style, but obviously corporate greed and modern business practice in game dev industry wont allow for this, its sad because you can say this about any AAA+ studio game in the world, or any game owned by a big investment group even if it were a small studio originally
I totally understand your feelings about this game, and I couldn't sum it up better than you did. I too think that the best era was 3 and 4 and even 5 had some very interesting things in it. But Ubisoft decided to stray further away from what made their games unique and stepped into the realm of generic titles. I wish the next Far Cry fixes these issues and give us a real taste of Far Cry...
I don’t know where you got the bullet sponge thing from. armor piercing rounds one shots everyone in the head in the game. Even on the harder difficulty.
Tbh its not THAT bad at all, it was fairly a decent far cry game, I enjoyed it a lot on my xbox SX, sure it has its flaws and might not be as good as the previous far cry games, but it’s still a decent game nonetheless, i’d give it a 7/10
What really annoyed me was how a lot of things have been removed. A lot of the gameplay, feels extremely shifted, things like the old perks system the ability to use enemy weapons etc etc. the mechanics in my opinion werent so bad.A lot of changes were understandable. However a lot of things really didnt make far cry 6 feel like any other far cry game. Story wise, killing all of the bosses felt easy and really boring. Far cry 6 also was downside in the Combat sense too. The combat in game wasnt really as intense as other far cry games, taking over outposts seemed really easy. The new ammo system of the game while as an idea isnt so bad but when it came to the combat gameplay, everything felt unbalanced. Everything like the armor system, supremo etc wasnt so bad. However major improvement is needed. Also the issue with the supremos was that it made all of the points i mentioned to do with the gameplay and combat really easy. The other issue was the lack of actual guns for hire. The game also lacks the survival aspect, etc etc. i think in the next far cry game they should keep some of the new features, like the armor system, the character customisation, ammo system, weapon unlock system. For new and old things to return. Stuff like The ability for the character to be tracked once you the player has caused enough havoc. Bring captured and escaping the enemy. The skill tree should return. Better AI should be added. Weapons and Equipment should be adequately ranked. If supremos make a return. Certain types of supremos really shouldnt make a returned.
For me Far Cry 4 was the best Haven't played 1 2 was too brutal to be Fun 3 had the right idea and the best villain so far 4 has the best gameplay esp the verticality with a pretty menacing villain 5 was too chaotic for me.. Zero breathing room Haven't played New Dawn 6 had terrible characters and I esp hated the corporate idea of rebellion Gameplay was meh couldn't care about the story either
I think I’m one of the few that actually loved FC2. That game got me through a really bad breakup in 2018. The African setting and just the hardcore, gritty feel to it I found really appealing. It also has a more philosophical tone to it with the Jackal.
@carloszestyboy2901 I'm with you there. I love Far Cry 2 a lot and I always play through it at least once a year. I'd be head over heels for an official remaster with some minor tweeks but I'm perfectly content knowing that it'll probably never happen.
I'm a simple guy. I've never played a Far Cry game before, but determined to do so with FC6 because female Dani is too easy on the eyes. Plus Nisa Gunduz's voice is so smooth. The game is absurdly fun, but I lasted for only around 75 hours before I feel like I'm playing the game on repeat. I don't mind all the gameplay mechanics like checkpoints and military bases, and all the weapons and vehicles are cool, IMO. I also love just driving around while listening to the singalongs. It's a fun and mindless romp. I dropped the game because enemies are too few and combat is too easy even on guerrilla difficulty. And the open world doesn't feel alive; I was especially disappointed to see an empty capital city. The story is a bummer too; there are so many missed opportunities in the relationship between Dani and Diego, making the ending that much more pointless. Dani is already a badass, she really doesn't need to be there because it serves nothing for her motives; she didn't even get anything meaningful in the end, even refused power for vague reasons. Dani's allies have come to trust her and rely on her, but I can't feel that connection because throughout the game she had been treated like nothing but a mercenary they call on to fix their problems; so it didn't make sense when at the end they ask her to lead them as a political figurehead. So many things didn't connect. So many things. I might play the game again sometimes though, even if it is just for the singalongs.
I really love your take and these are some really fine points you mentioned! Especially about how there's a dissonance between Dani's story and the gameplay/overall story. If you have the time, I highly recommend playing Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 5. Far Cry 4 is awesome too, but for the most part it takes everything from Far Cry 4 and perfects them, so the choice is up to you. You would probably find a lot of fun in those games as well.
By biggest gripe with the game was how lackluster and bland it was. When I heard it was set in fictional Cuba I was really excited. There’s not many rpg’s there that are set in the Caribbeans, let alone Cuba so I was super intrigued and interested in where the story could go and the content that would be added. Not to my surprise. I was let down. I won’t get into the story because there’s already dozens of videos rightfully criticizing the game but I would like to point out the mishandling of potential and straight up shitty add ons and “expansions” for the game. I would have loved to see dlc that focused around the traditions and hobbies of the Cuban people. Farming (feeding cattle, planting crops, cleaning a barn), more additions to fishing, total customization on the cars (build one from the ground up) boxing, having boxing rings set up around the map and facing other fighters on your way to becoming a champion (similar to Cyberpunks fighting quests), the potential was right there… They completely missed on the expansions too. Instead of the two we got we should’ve gotten a Soviet style add on where Anton is allowing them to set up nuclear sights all around the map and you have to sabotage and uncover a sinister motive for his plans. Another could’ve been a “what if” scenario where Dani joins the FND and you have to take part in raids and shootouts with the rebels and destroy there operations and networks from the ground up.
You have perfectly summed up the reasons that could end up making the game world much more alive and dynamic than the current shallow and soulless thing it is. The second major expansion was also a horrible mess that I try to completely forget about... I like the stuff you mentioned, especially the one with the what if scenario...
There was a lot of good ideas. The whole checkpoints on the road thing was a real thing rebel armies did for money and controlling the roads. They could’ve put what counter insurgency did and have the army attack these checkpoints sometimes. And showing different kinds of factions in a rebellion is also good but I feel like they did a bad job representing them. A little, just a bit, over the top. Like when they will show soldiers being like “we have no choice but to fight because of our families” while later you celebrating hanging soldiers. Also, personally smth I agree with, is that there should’ve been more urban warfare. A different kind of “jungle” to navigate.
Tbh I think my favorite thing about the far cry 3, 4 and 5 far as gameplay was that you had to choose carefully what weapons and items you use for whatever style one decides to play but seems like that "difficult" part is out since you can basically change on the fly along with the items that make it well not so fun or interesting
I agree. Far Cry 6 tried to make things more accessible, but it seems like Ubisoft doesn't know the difference between accessibility and making things unnecessary easy...
all of your complaints about the hunting system in far cry 6 are complaints you should have made about far cry 5 because it's exactly the same in that game too nobody did and we got far cry 6 as a result of it
While I would generally agree with you about watering down the entire hunting system in Far Cry 5, at least they introduced the fishing mechanic and hunting animals would give the player perk points at a faster rate. But I think the next Far Cry should go back to the 3 and 4's hunting system.
They took out the difficulty settings, and made an ammo type that killed any enemy in 1 tap, game was like if previous farcrys had a super easy difficulty
Great review! I completely agree with your points about Far Cry 6. The lack of a memorable villain and the disjointed world really made it hard to stay engaged. Giancarlo Esposito's performance was fantastic, but it felt wasted. The RPG mechanics felt out of place and took away from the core Far Cry experience. One thing I also noticed was the repetitive mission structure; it felt like there was little variety in objectives, which made the game feel like a grind at times. I also missed the immersive, darker atmosphere of the earlier games. Here's hoping Ubisoft takes the feedback and brings the series back to its roots in the next installment. Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks for the kind comment! Of course, the wasted potential of both the setting and the character feels very bad but I'm still hopeful for the next entry as there's a lot of things that need massive improvements!
I actually was surprised by the map size, I thought I was only the little Island but then It went over to the whole map. And I became extremely excited because there's so much to explore.
I'm not against huge world maps by any means, all I'm against is giant maps with zero depth. I wish Far Cry 6's world was as fun to explore as Far Cry 5 (I loved the bunker discoveries in FC5) but it sadly is not even close to that game.
I think the problem is that in their attempt to keep the series fresh, they forgot a lot of aspects that made the franchise. Like they decided to had weird goofy mechanics and weapons that never made sense especially in the context of the previous games.
Hey there, Thanks for watching! Glad that the video was helpful. Yeah, I don't recommend this game at all. If you haven't played the previous games, check 3-4-5 as they are much better and more fun!
Amazing video bro , as a fan of the FC Series I always felt like FC6 was bad/not an FC game but didn't have enough reasons to say that , this is the perfect video ! Keep up the good work you just gained a loyal subscriber 😂❤️
Wow, thanks a lot my friend, your words are kind and really means a lot to me! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video, welcome to the channel dude!
I enjoyed Far Cry 6. The main issues for me were the overpowered resolver weapon, most of which I never used, and the lack of the skill tree. The things that make a Far Cry game for me, though, are the base capturing, the stealth and the gun play. That was all good.
Yeah, the lack of skill tree and replacing all of its mechanics with outfit system and its different perks was a total mistake and made the game feel lackluster IMO. Also, I totally agree with you on Resolver weapons being overpowered.
One of the big things I don’t like about far cry six is that no matter how much progress you do there’s always tons of soldiers on the roads being annoying
It felt more like far cry than far cry 5. I've never heard anyone say it didn't feel like far cry. Just you. The game was more far cry than we've had in a Long Time.
Nah, that's simply not true as I explained thoroughly why the game failed to capture the feeling of its predecessors. BTW if you want to see why people didn't like the game, take a quick stroll through the comments.
6 still felt like Far Cry to me but it had a silliness and almost childishness to it that turned me off. It tried appealing to Gen Z a bit too much with the Boomer-younger generations feuding, romanticism of fascism, and shitty music from MM. some moments were just eye-rollingly dumb when they had the potential to be serious.
Bembe (I hated him so much! he was a great character), Carlos and Espada Montero, El Tigre and old revolution folks, Juan (he was a slicky guy, perfect fit for far cry) and Philly. If ubi kept them and got rid of the rest of characters + did some serious villain treatment of Castillo, the roster could be actually pretty nice. What killed the game for me was mouse control of helicopters, no sidearm grenade launcher, overall lack of cool weapons like SA-50 or Mg42 (and those silencers made of plastic bottles?), boring driving model and uninteresting map. However I'm still waiting for FC7, hopefully they will make it better
Great video! I do agree that Far Cry 6 is really different compared to Far Cry 3 or even 2 Plus, we already have Jagged Alliance 2 and 3 to scratch the itch for mercenaries (a theme abandoned after FC3) and liberating countries
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I personally have never played JA series, so I might check it out one day. Thanks for the suggestion!
lol, that can be said about almost every long-running series. What is important is that the developers should keep the core identity of that series intact, while properly evolving the gameplay mechanics into something better...
Not necessarily. The guerilla with too much chaotic weapons that are designed for mindless fun, the indifference to fine tuning traversal mechanics that doesn't end up making one of them superior, the bland and cartoony characters are some of the examples that turn this game into a just cause thing tho. at the end, speakers and statues are both symbols, nothing more.
@@TheTrueSeal Yes thats so true. I think its ironic tho how they transformed the game to a just cause title with far cry graphics, make him an dictator u never see but blow up in his statue or speaker form, wich is SUCH AN JUST CAUSE THING like wtf. Did they forget what far cry is?
@@littlebitclumsy Exactly! I agree with you. Far Cry was always about the horrors the main villain would cause for people and in this game, the focus is completely somewhere else! I would forgive many of the game's useless mechanics if the story and world building was done better but sadly, everything crumbles on itself in the first few hours and then continues to stay that way...
Thats so frcking sad. Like even Fc5 had some backlash and they decide to do just… …less? At least its something that happens thoughout gaming everywhere so we have to hope that publishers will finally have to change course. Until then keep up the great work man! An excellent watch
@@littlebitclumsy My biggest fear for Far Cry 7 is the live service aspect of the game. Are they going to release a half-finished product and keep adding the core content with small updates or are they going to charge us to the moon for the full game experience? I guess only time will tell and we don't have to wait too long for its reveal since I strongly believe that FC7's reveal might happen in the upcoming Ubisoft Forward Event!
While I agree with all your poitns to an extent and that it doesnt live up to the previous games high marks.. to say it isn't fun I think is just silly. It's a video game, just because its not the best of the series does not mean it isnt good. I encourage others give it a try because there is still fun to be had here. I put this game off for so long because of people's reviews and I wish i hadn't. Its not as great as 5 and its not as great as 3, (I thought far cry 4 was boring, but i wont yuck peoples yum for it) but it is a very fun game in its own right.
Well, there's a specific reason for not recommending a game. While story concepts, storytelling, and characters are actually important, they wouldn't determine (at least for me) that whether a game is fun or not... after all it's the gameplay that makes the entire thing stay fun. Instead, if a game tries to tell you that: "Hey look, I know I have 50 different mechanics, it's best for you to avoid all of them and only use 2". That's when a game becomes hard to recommend. If FC6 didn't try to sabotage itself this hard, I'd have enjoyed it much more actually even with its map size and current state of story.
I think Fc6 definitely felt like Far Cry. For me it felt like a modern take on FC4 in many ways. I think people thought fc6 would shake things up more than it did, but they kept the formula.
@@esleyjanssen8561 Glad you enjoyed the game and congrats on that platinum! One thing that really bothered me and ruined the entire mood of the game was the bad story writing. If the story was better and characters weren't so comically portrayed, the game could've been more enjoyable for me, and I could easily ignore its shortcomings.
@@TheTrueSeal yeah the story wasn’t really “great” especially the allies you make. I really like the part of seeing the good in Anton’s son. But the other characters are just not really interesting except el Tigre
@@esleyjanssen8561 Totally agree with you. El Tigre and maybe Espada was the only two good characters of this game. Also, not seeing the guerillas doing anything bad and they're always the saints was really hilarious. It's like Ubi forgot that they themselves made Far Cry 4 and the rebels in that game were not that different from Pagan min.
Honestly one of the only few issues I have with 6 is the backpack and mainly the backpack… with rockets. It just gave me the vibe of “this game will suck” and I don’t know why, not even a “this is too different” thing, it just felt off to me. Also here at 15:13 I don’t understand how they messed this up because they have stuff like The Division 2’s assaults where enemies could attack your control points and Outpost Master for Far Cry 5 where you can choose to reset the outposts. Don’t know why they made it a weekly thing for Far Cry 6.
The backpack thing really made it closer to Just Cause series for some reason. Also yeah, the replacement of outpost master with insurgency was a horrible choice...
Far cry 6 is one of my favorites... to much hate for no real reason. I got all the trophys🏆 and me and my girlfriend had fun in co-op. Great game 🎮 We started with Far cry 3 then 4 and 5 and we bought all the DLC. Literally. My personal favorites is 3, 5, New Dawn And 6. 6 is my most favorite.
I'm glad you had a fun time in the game and congrats on earning all the trophies as well. However, I'm not hating on the game, I'm simply expressing why it strayed from the series while it had all the potential to be one of the best games in the franchise.
Although far cry 6 is my least favorite. I had good fun with it along with all the other ones. I treat far cry how people treat GTA. Turn my brain off, do stupid shit, and cause chaos. My favorite in order is 5, 4, blood dragon, 3, new dawn, 2, primal, and 6 3 used to be my favorite until I went back and played 3 a couple years ago. It is way too simple by today's standards l.
me and my girl played through 4 and 5, loved it, bought and played 6 on release and never finished it. Didn’t keep us engaged and really didn’t feel like Far Cry.
I didn't really like this game much. but I think one of the few things worth playing for it is the villain DLCs. they do a good job at portraying the characters, and enlighten us to their motives, and backstories. so you have more sympathy in the main games for them, and even further push the question of "am I really the hero here?" for both villain an hero characters. I especially like Joseph's collapse, since he has the realization that: yes, he was wrong in the end to try and save everyone since it would have led to both his and their downfall. and in new dawn you get to see the outcome of that development. where he's changed from the prophet leader to just a sad, wore out old man.
I haven't finished 5 or 6 and what I've played of 5 seems alright so far but it doesn't "feel like far cry" to me either. I don't know what it is it just doesn't feel like 3 or 4 at all, partially the lack of a mini-map I think.
You know, one of the factors that some people seem to be annoyed by, but I truly miss is the lack of a tower climbing system. With them gone, the recent games are trying to do open handed exploration... but such a thing requires tons of points of interest relatively close together, which is not something that suits a Far Cry game world IMO.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game. Part of the criticism came from fans' experience with the older series. If you have the time, I highly recommend playing Far Cry 3-4-5. If you want the most polish and complete form of the older games format, Far Cry 4 is the go to option. However, if you want some insane moments with solid gameplay (and of course, some questionable design choices) play Far Cry 5. Also, there's Far Cry Primal. It's set in pre-historic era and is extremely cool and innovative in its own way. Maybe after trying those games, your opinion changes on Far Cry 6 or maybe it doesn't. But either way I think you shouldn't miss playing those fantastic games.
Thank you for your kind comment and also thanks for subscribing! I truly appreciate this is type of feedback as it motivates me to make better videos. Can't wait to share the upcoming video!
Honestly one of my problems with this is game is the main character, because they are a native to the oppressed country, while the protagonists in the other games were from outside of these countries, which kinda makes the title of the game kinda meaningless because the protagonist of this game is used to the cruelty of the country.
This is an extremely important point. The fact that there's no far cry elements in the far cry 6 comes down to the protagonist and the setting which is a well known country instead of a wild or uncharted land...
Idk man, 5 was pretty trash. 6 wasn't necessarily a good game but its definitely not worse than 5. The bosses in that game were super forgettable aside from the sister with the drug farms. Everything else was super bland, the ai was bad, the world was uninteresting... I at least enjoyed 6. It still doesn't hold a candle to 3 and 4 but to act like it was a major step down from 5 is pretty whack.
I'm glad that you enjoyed 6 more, but aside from not having a voiced villain, crappy ai, and some missing elements, Far Cry 5 is miles better. The setting (Montana vs Yara) is much more of a preference but at least the map size in 5 is more condensed and smaller than 6's map.
I had so much playing Far Cry 1 back in the day,, It felt so different than the usual WW2 game developers were making back then. Far Cry 3 was pretty fun too but I never finished the game, from what I read it's sad that Vaas isn't the main villain of that game.
Sure, Vaas isn't the main antagonist of Far Cry 3, but the game still treated him in a way that it'd put him under the spotlight of being the main enemy.
6 was much better than 5 and on par with 3 People just hate games for not beeing the alreday 10 year old version they played I mean 3 is my fav but 6 was pretty good
I'm not a fan of nostalgia by any means and the video is not aimed to idolize the older games. In fact, each of them has their unique sets of issues. But the pros always outweighed the cons. Can't say the same about Far Cry 6 tho.
I thought you had more subs. This video was really great!

I think Ubisoft kinda forgot that far cry is supposed to take place in a land the character isn’t used to at all like how Jason wasn’t really familiar with the islands,it’s kinda why it’s called “far cry”
Exactly! The game doesn't even stand to its own name...
Yeah, even in far cry 5 you were from America, but you were cut off from everyone outside of that region
@@ghost3d474 exactly this.
@@ghost3d474even though you're the main character that can't talk in fc5 you still can't help but feel like you're really out of your element when it comes to all this cult stuff especially in the beginning.
In every Game it Feels like that the alternate ending was the Canon but not in 5
Vaas: goes absolutely mad when interacting with the character.
Pagan Min: is clean with his brutality when interacting on the phone.
Joseph Seed: interacts with the character every time he goes into a new region and blows shit up.
Castillo: let’s go golfing, let’s go golfing.
lmao basically this
A little more deep into it would also have
Vaas: a deep connection with Jason because they're pretty similar, Vaas show that the whole trip to the island changed Jason forever as a person, the ending where you k*ll your friends probably mean Jason embraced the insanity and stop fighting it
Pagan: Ajay literal family, Pagan treat Ajay like a son and truly care for him, tho his action might be bad but seeing both ending Pagan doesn't even look that bad anymore and if you just sit tight the game end with Pagan and Ajay joining force
Joseph: Intimidating even tho he doesn't even try to and the intro totally make you feel hopeless one of the best introduction to a villain (that feeling when you think they're going to send reinforcement and you get a game full of chaotic gunfight suddenly turn into a semi survival horror game where you're stuck in this country fighting brainwashed people), and the ending have you joining force with him that lead to New Dawn Story where he graduate from being a villain
Far Cry 6 felt more like a Just Cause game than Far Cry
Exactly!
THATS WHAT IM SAYIN-
But without the fun of just cause, it has both a serious progression yet boring one man army gameplay. It takes forever to get strong yet gameplay are just soo easy. It those not click.
It's a woke parody without trying
@@dieterrosswag933 woke isn't evolving, its mutating and creating carbon copies of itself with mimicry patterns.
I didn't mind the game and although the ending was poor my biggest gripe about the game was I didn't like a single character.
That says a lot about this game's story and writing...
And then LETS BEMBE GO
The games writing, and characters is something out of sci Fi level bad
@@timhefty504 I liked Juan until he sold you out.
@@TheTrueSeal No, it only says something about the commenter's preferences, nothing about the game.
One minute the game is serious, then they start joking, then get serious, then joke:
Lastly, I almost forget animals were even in the game. Besides crocodiles, well, that’s all.
more like 1/10
The feeling of villain yelling in your face, I felt it so much from far cry 5 villains imo...
Ubisoft doesn’t know what fascism is
That's an extremely interesting point you have mentioned and I totally agree with it.
The story gets worse as you progress through the game, so I'm not surprised to hear that you had to drop the game since it becomes so unbearable...
Wow, you made it 30 hours? I couldn’t get past five hours.
The virtue signalling was obnoxious
That's just every Far Cry after 2. They are all dogshit
Hats off to you, I barely did 10hrs.
I uninstalled far cry6 after only a few hours. It felt unpolished like they rushed it and Ubisoft hasn’t even bothered to patch it up
I agree with you on not patching the game with QoL updates. I think they didn't bother updating the FSR version or even adding up DLSS to the game on PC...
So you payed for it? 😮

Yep, I played maybe 3 hours. I remember I had just gotten the Alligator and he got stuck on nothing, and I said, welp, that's it for me.

Same bro, It's hard to keep playing i'm about to give up the game and play something else :(

Is far cry 6 fun if you ignore the bullet and ammo types??

Takes a special kind of incompetency to have Giancarlo Esposito in your game as the main antagonist and somehow making him forgettable. Only Ubislop is capable of doing so.
For real!
Ghost recon breakpoint had John bernthal as the villain, wasted away completely
@@TheTrueSeal agreed
i think its also the base enemies in this game that make it feel less like a far cry, in previous games, the pirates/peggies all had this sense of ferality and lawlessness about them, even with the Kyrat royal army seem to be nothing more than undisciplined thugs that just happen to have standardized uniforms and weaponry.
This. They needed to add a proper skill tree mechanic instead of the horrible outfit system.
That tattoo system in FC3 was so damn iconic.

At first the game acts like everything from the older games is preserved and upgraded to the next level (as it should have been in the first place) but everything takes a quick turn, and the game tells the player that all the things you enjoyed from the older games are "almost" gone and now you have to deal with some misplaced RPG mechanics...

People who said they enjoyed it most likely didn't play the first 5.
I'm glad that you found the game enjoyable. I wish it respected the franchise's name more, was less goofy, and took itself more seriously.
4 is considered a very good farcry game anything after that not so much
I’m enjoying it, but I care more about gameplay than story or characters, so I like this more than games like a plague tale requiem or hellblade senuas saga, which are all about telling a story and have weak ass gameplay.

Bembe, el doctor, and Mckay were probably the best enemies. The naval woman was pretty ruthless, seeing the bodies on buoys was pretty cool, but they all needed more time.
Poor Bembe was butchered due to bad writing and almost no screen time...
The weird jump to third person at friendly camps was completely unnecessary. Also, having throwing knives assigned to a particular supremo only sucks. They messed with the formula too much.
Exactly this.
i enjoyed the voiced protagonist, huge weapon selection and gunplay but the clothing system, ammo system....felt useless. most of the characters were annoying too and i prefer the perk tree. map was nice but too big..felt really empty at times
Totally agree with you, except for the gunplay which didn't sit right with me due to bullet-sponge enemies.
I actually liked female Dani, the voice actress did a fantastic job with that role.
What made those villains very threatening was the fact we get see them through a first person perspective. It made us feel threatened and vulnerable. The confrontations kinda made it personal too. I was very disappointed when I realised the cut scenes were in third person. It would've been amazing to see his performance in first person!!

Any update from ubisoft for the next far cry ?
One thing that made this game not feel like a far cry game for me was the switch to regular cutscenes from first person cutscenes. The idea of first person cutscenes is to make you feel that each character is talking directly to you and not to the character you are playing as. It takes away a lot of what makes the villain intimidating like for example, the eye contact. What made Pagan, Vaas and Joseph intimidating is the eye contact. They are talking to us through the eyes of the protagonist. FC6 took away all that in favor of generic cutscenes.
I absolutely agree with you.

They had a great antagonist and wasted the potential, and because that I liked far cry 5 FAR more
Yeah, whenever I think about Anton, all I see is Giancarlo's wasted potential...
I got a feeling that they were running out of time and that’s why the ending feels so underwhelming, I was expecting an entire chapter of Esperanza
I can see that as a plausible thing and it totally makes sense too!
You explained everything about Diego so perfectly that it makes me sad why the writers didn't think of a better way to handle this character.
This is a great take. Also, love your pfp.

You’ve nailed it-There is NO villain in FC6.
And that's a wasted potential unfortunately...
The stupid backpack, no skill tree, skills locked behind whatever gear you're wearing and not enough of Castillo are the first things I can think of that make it not feel like Far Cry.
exactly
I think the lack of moral conflict is what made me drop it. FC3 left you wondering whether Vaas or Jason is the one truly insane, FC4 made you question Sabal and Amita's motives and wonder if you're really the good guy in the story. This moral conflict is weaker in FC5 and completely non-existent in FC6.
Well said and I totally agree with you.
I won't go through what's been said in the comment, but far cry is all about the environment 1st. And what was immerging was the presence of animals in Far Cry 3 and 4... we were constantly in danger between the main story and the credibility of the open world
Well said. Replacing all of that with an almost tamed nature, urban environment, and a proper country was their biggest mistake.
It's concerning how nobody realizes that Giancarlo's villain Anton isn't even in the actual game but only in cutscenes. They just used him to advertise their game and rushed this game to get it out using him as to hype up their crap.
This.

It's ironic that nobody includes FC 1 or 2
@@BLET_55artem55 I agree with you, but part of that is due to how old those games are and mostly, how different they are structured compared to anything past Far Cry 3.
Still sad it's not talked about more
@@BLET_55artem55 100% Agreed.
That's certainly an interesting take that I can agree with.
This is an excellent take and I fully agree with it. Thanks for sharing it!
I played far cry 6 fairly briefly, but didn't continue. It just didn't feel like far cry at all and I got bored.

I find it hilarious, everyone be like damn these farcry games are all the same, then they be like, wtf is this? This farcry is just too diferent.

Honestly i bought this game approx. a year ago cuz it was on sale for like $8 and i didnt watch any reviews or anything, played it for like 3 missions and honestly got so bored and uninstalled the game
I know some people will think its an unfair judgement but being used to far cry 3 and 4 which imo was the prime era and what far cry is really about, this felt like a very generic shooter game with an annoyingly large map (especially at the beginning of the game)
And for some reason stealth was pretty difficult, maybe this is a skill issue on my part, however the entire bullet sponge concept was so noticeable and put me off the game so much
I know its impossible, but i wish they bring back that far cry 3-4 style, but obviously corporate greed and modern business practice in game dev industry wont allow for this, its sad because you can say this about any AAA+ studio game in the world, or any game owned by a big investment group even if it were a small studio originally
Even on the harder difficulty.
greaatttt videooo, keep going bro... wish you had more subs
Thanks a lot dude! Hopefully by pushing out high quality content we'll get there too!
Tbh its not THAT bad at all, it was fairly a decent far cry game, I enjoyed it a lot on my xbox SX, sure it has its flaws and might not be as good as the previous far cry games, but it’s still a decent game nonetheless, i’d give it a 7/10
I'm glad you enjoyed the game, let's hope the next game makes most of us happy!
@@TheTrueSeal well based on the leaks, I guarantee it’s gonna be a disappointment 💀
I appreciate your comprehensive take on the game and I must say I agree with you.
For me Far Cry 4 was the best
Haven't played 1
2 was too brutal to be Fun
3 had the right idea and the best villain so far
4 has the best gameplay esp the verticality with a pretty menacing villain
5 was too chaotic for me.. Zero breathing room
Haven't played New Dawn
6 had terrible characters and I esp hated the corporate idea of rebellion Gameplay was meh couldn't care about the story either
I like your ranking, it's pretty close to mine, except I liked 5 (despite its many different problems), played and didn't like New Dawn.
Started playing FC from FC5 and I enjoyed both games so much. I feel Anton’s screen time was enough. Great story and great effort from the devs
I'm glad that you liked the game! If you have the time, try Far Cry 3, 4, and primal in the future. They're unique and fun to play too.
Well said!
Personaly I found Far Cry 6 to be enjoyable despite its flaws.
Glad to know you had a fun time with it!
I agree. Far Cry 6 tried to make things more accessible, but it seems like Ubisoft doesn't know the difference between accessibility and making things unnecessary easy...
all of your complaints about the hunting system in far cry 6 are complaints you should have made about far cry 5 because it's exactly the same in that game too
nobody did and we got far cry 6 as a result of it
While I would generally agree with you about watering down the entire hunting system in Far Cry 5, at least they introduced the fishing mechanic and hunting animals would give the player perk points at a faster rate. But I think the next Far Cry should go back to the 3 and 4's hunting system.
They took out the difficulty settings, and made an ammo type that killed any enemy in 1 tap, game was like if previous farcrys had a super easy difficulty
yep, there was basically no challenge in Far Cry 6...
@@TheTrueSeal I understand! and I agree :)
Great video, honestly.Hopefully your channel will rise to its deserved following ^^
Thank you! This really means a lot to me. Also, thank you for watching the video.
I think the problem is that in their attempt to keep the series fresh, they forgot a lot of aspects that made the franchise. Like they decided to had weird goofy mechanics and weapons that never made sense especially in the context of the previous games.
Well said, this is exactly the problem with the game.
This is a treat! I was searching for FC 6 reviews and there aren’t any new ones. Thanks for this. The game is trash.
Hey there, Thanks for watching! Glad that the video was helpful. Yeah, I don't recommend this game at all. If you haven't played the previous games, check 3-4-5 as they are much better and more fun!
I have 850 hrs in to it. Play it.
No, not ubisoft being ubisoft
lol.
@@TheTrueSeal well produced video btw!
@@robmowe8090 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
1. Its a ubisoft game.
Which could have ended up being a good one, but the corporate greed would never allow such a thing...
@@TheTrueSeal it could never end up being a good thing anymore
One of the big things I don’t like about far cry six is that no matter how much progress you do there’s always tons of soldiers on the roads being annoying
Yep. You liberate every region, but the soldiers are always there in the road fighting guerillas one by one. it's totally an immersion breaker for me.
@@TheTrueSeal that’s subjective, and a good chunk of the comments disagree with you.
“More far cry than we’ve had in a long time” because far cry is an rpg series known for its lighthearted saints row style story.
Well said and I agree!
Great video! I do agree that Far Cry 6 is really different compared to Far Cry 3 or even 2
Plus, we already have Jagged Alliance 2 and 3 to scratch the itch for mercenaries (a theme abandoned after FC3) and liberating countries
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I personally have never played JA series, so I might check it out one day. Thanks for the suggestion!
far cry fans: jesus christ this game is the same as every other far cry
far cry fans: jesus christ this game is nothing like far cry
lol, that can be said about almost every long-running series. What is important is that the developers should keep the core identity of that series intact, while properly evolving the gameplay mechanics into something better...
The statues and speakers are a just cause thing, are they not?
I barely even used my supremo, mostly because I forgot it was there.
I really didn't like its forced implementation...
I think people thought fc6 would shake things up more than it did, but they kept the formula.
glad you enjoyed it!
Another Awesome video as always.
You convinced me to skip this game.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad that the video was helpful!
I just platinumed far cry 6, it’s quite a nice game. Different than other far cry games. But I still quite recommend it.
My favorite in order is 5, 4, blood dragon, 3, new dawn, 2, primal, and 6
3 used to be my favorite until I went back and played 3 a couple years ago. It is way too simple by today's standards l.
I more intrigued by the fact you found a gamer girlfriend; where did you meet her, I thought they were merely a myth 😂
@@landonstallings2891 That's a solid list tbh, and you have an interesting method when it comes to playing Far Cry games!
me and my girl played through 4 and 5, loved it, bought and played 6 on release and never finished it.
I wish Anton would've also been treated the same way in his own game! But yeah, that DLC piece is probably the only redeeming part of this game.
The worst part is that you can see hints scattered about of what it could have been
This is the part where it hurts the most. This game is a massive waste of potential sadly...
I thought far cry 6 was amazing it got unnecessary hate and it was the only far cry game I played
Play literally any other far cry game and you'll change your tune
I have played fc 3,fc 2,fc 5 ,fc primal and fc6. 6 was the worst

3,4 and 5 main villain was a cult leader and a psychopath but 6 was just a politician which was a big let down.
and even then, they botched the writing for this supposed politician lol.
I liked 6 I thought 5 wasn’t like far cry cause of all the religion crap
What aspect in Far Cry 6 was more enjoyable for you and what drove you away from 5? (except for the story which you have already mentioned)
@@TheTrueSeal back to its roots taking on some kind of evil dictator.. I got sick of all the weirdness with the bliss aswell
@@pauldodds8312 Then I'm glad you found Far Cry 6 more enjoyable!
Seriously who thought of putting perks in clothes should be fired immediately.
The idea was seriously horrible
Could not agree more.
6 was much better than 5 and on par with 3
People just hate games for not beeing the alreday 10 year old version they played
I mean 3 is my fav but 6 was pretty good
I'm not a fan of nostalgia by any means and the video is not aimed to idolize the older games. In fact, each of them has their unique sets of issues. But the pros always outweighed the cons. Can't say the same about Far Cry 6 tho.
