Hi Carolyn; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. It was different to see them setting still that long. I don't think that will be the case today. It snowed here overnight, and I have to find my pickup. LOL! I hope that you had a great Sunday and have a super Monday. Please take care and stay safe!
This is the most incredible train video I've ever watched since the to actually take a ride on the train must be quite an experience for a First time rider
Good evening, Robert; I thank you for stopping by and the comment. I see many first timers here as they take a ride to Denver of across the divide to the western slope or even farther west. It does keep me wanting to board the train again. Pleased take care and stay safe!
Good Palm Sunday morning Mike! What an amazing stop today with on time and a near full moon 🌕. The conductor today reminded me of Matt lol. Have a great safe day 😃👍
Good morning, Gene; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. I am unsure who was in the cab, but they had a handful of brakes and whoa. They did a nice job. I like 'em like that. LOL! I had hoped to catch the moon directly over the Zephyr yesterday, but the cloud deck messed that up. Oh well. The only thing missing to have made him a twin to Matt was the beard. LOL! Have a great Palm Sunday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good Sunday morning, Mike. Thanks for the video. Good to see the Zephyr hitting its schedule today, even waiting a few minutes before leaving. Which gave us the bonus moon footage. Loved seeing the moon and a few clouds up there above the train! Looks like some weather stuff is moving in on us this afternoon. I hope you have a good day over there!
Good morning, suz; I thank you for stopping by as well as the comments. They were a few minutes late into Creston, Iowa last night. They get a boost in the time slip between there and Omaha just as they do here to Denver. I don't think they had any passenger work from Lincoln to here and were able to stay on schedule. I don't see that too often. I tried for a shot of the moon directly over the Zephyr yesterday, but the cloud deck nixed that. I was happy to catch it this morning. I hope that you have a great Sunday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good evening Mike. Thank you for sharing this morning’s #5 California Zephyr Ft. Morgan “smooth as Buddha” stop. I hope you had a super Sunday journey and are now enjoying a restful night’s rest. My Sunday was full and draining, but fulfilling. I look forward to Monday’s video.
Good morning, Curtis; Thank you for dropping by along with the comments. It was a decent Sunday for the most part. I wake up to an inch of snow on the ground this morning and more in the air. It's always something. LOL. I wanted moisture, so I'll take it. I hope that you and yours have a great Monday out there. Please take care and stay safe!
Morning Mike. A neat capture of today's Zephyr, off and on, then having to wait for the advertised time. Got a bit of a kick out of that. Nice shot of the moon, as well. We had cloud cover for a good bit of the night, so only saw a glow through them. Take care and stay safe. I'll check in tomorrow.
Good morning, Phil; I thank you for looking in along with the comments today. That was a rare event today. I have seen that just a handful of times here. I am sure they made the reservations at IHOP in Denver this morning. LOL! I hoped to catch the moon over the Zephyr yesterday but had a cloud deck in the way. It was neat to catch it thru the light clouds today. Have a great Sunday down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Morning Mike. Another nice, smooth and on time stop. With the clouds cooperating to allow that full Moon to show the #5 the way west it doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for the visit yesterday, I'm looking forward to a coffee visit this summer. Have a great day and stay safe out there.
Good morning, David; I thank you for tuning in as well as the comments today. I do enjoy stops like this one and yesterdays. The moon over the train was near what I was hoping to catch yesterday. But those pesky clouds. I am hoping that all goes well for you Friday. I also look forward to getting together again for coffee and all. Have a great Palm Sunday up there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Robert; Thank you for dialing in and the comments today. I was able to pick up some clear horn music today. I was impressed as to how clear it was. In answer to your other comment, I don't see them early or on time that much out here. To have them wait for a couple of minutes before they can leave is a rare thing too. I know the European trains keep very close to schedule, but the honors go to the Japanese for their timeliness. One doesn't be late for a train there. They don't wait for anyone. Anyway, have a great Sunday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Ken; Thank you for looking in and the comments today. That was some clear horn music today. Very little wind and what there was carried the tune well. Have a great Sunday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Hi Mike-TY for 5 & what a nice horn coming in. Today’s weather map is all sorts of colors & our’s is dark tan meaning wind warnings up to maybe 65 mph gusts. It was a week of errands, house chores & fighting Amarillo traffic with Dr . appts. That city is getting to be a circus in the traffic & road construction. And gotta go again this week for tests. Have a nice Palm Sunday.
Good morning, Cheryl; I thank you for dropping by and the comments today. No wind here yet and no moisture either. My brother has been in the Phoenix area with a close friend who lives there. He should be home today. Just hope that he doesn't have heavy weather to drive thru getting here. I may have to drive to Greeley for medical work this coming weel. One of the meds I was on went out of stock from the manufacturer and I am to be shifting to another med. That seem to be out of stock as well. Go figure. Meanwhile, my blood glucose runs astray. It sounds as though Amarillo is taking after Denver with the whole city being a "cone zone" with construction work going on everywhere. Another reason I try not to drive in Denver metro area. Anyway, have a great Palm Sunday down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Well that doesn't happen too often, although we did arrive in Albuquerque 30 mins early. Good job he checked his watch! They're not allowed to leave before advertised time here either.
Good evening, Frogfather; Thank you for stopping by as well as the comments. This was a rare event here. I have witnessed only a handful including this one. I did see him check his watch and realized it was early. I am also sure they made the breakfast reservations at IHOP this morning. LOL! I hope that you have a great evening over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning Mike from 35 but sunny mid Tenn. Happy "Psalm Sunday" to you & yours. 1 week til Easter Sunday a celebrated day by all Christians. Enjoy your day and thanks for an early full moon #5.
Good morning, Ben; Thank you for tuning in along with the comments. It was 34 F at train time today. Not too far apart by temperature. It is Palm Sunday with Easter somewhat early this year. No matter it is still Easter next Sunday. I hope thst you and yours have agreat Sunday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Hi Jean; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. I have NHRA drag racing on the other computer and am also watching the round 1 timing and wins. Hope that you get the new phone figured out. Please take care and stay safe!
Hello Mike. "On time" and a full moon to boot Well, everyone here is getting excited for the complete solar eclipse on the afternoon of April the 8th. I am considering getting some glasses for viewing the event. I could use a smoked piece of glass as well. Our luck we would have cloud cover most of the day! LOL. I can remember when we had a partial solar eclipse and everything looked dark on a clear day. Very spooky! Have you ever seen such an event? You could catch #6 to Chicago and the train to the Cleveland, Ohio area and see it for yourself! Anyway, have a great and safe day. Conductor Dave.
Good afternoon, conductor Dave; I thank you for dialing in as well as the comments. I am using my welding hoods at a level 18 setting to watch. Used then the last solar eclipse viewable here. Won't need it for the lunar eclipse. Probably won't stay up to view that. I have been thru a total solar eclipse once here. That happened around 1961 as I recall. I have seen several partials while in the service at various locations. It is something to be in the area of totality. Anyway, have a great Sunday afternoon. Please take care and stay safe! PS don't use "smoked glass. Get a pair of glasses form an el-cheapo outlet and not from an online source that cannot be verified. Don't ruin your eyes. They are the only ones you get. Convenience stores carry verifiable viewing glasses.
Wow that's amazing for Amtrak to get the train on Time! I bet that rarely happens! That is such a great thing they did today by being punctual like a German train! Or an Italian train!
Was that a Ric stop or someone he has trained? Sure looked "hot" but effective. All just to sit & wait for a few minutes. Probably get to Denver too early.
I am unsure who was in the cab today. They did a great job in reeling it in though. Although I have not checked the Zephyr was about 32 minutes early into Denver as they gain 32 minutes to the schedule between here and Denver.
Good morning, John; Thanks for stopping by along with the comment. 24 hours later and there is an inch of snow on the ground with more in the air out here. And the man who trained this engineer is bringing today's Zephyr thru in a 1.5 hours. I hope that you have a great Monday down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good Sunday morning Mike! Wow. Nice to see #5 pull into the station early! I guess that’s a full moon out there! Sheesh, it’s all hidden by clouds out here 😒. I have to ask…not in every video but in quite a few I hear a distant beep.beep.beep periodically. Is that coming from the Cargill plant to the east? Have a great Sunday out your way Sir! I am here this Palm Sunday! Mark in Iowa.
Good morning, Mark; Thanks for dropping by as well as the comments today. Yep. That moon could be considered full today. Tomorrow is the actual date and there will be an eclipse of the moon tomorrow night. The triple beep you hear is a very old annunciator in the agent's office of the depot. It was never turned off from what I understand. It goes to work when a train is approaching from Brush and /or Wiggins to the west. It doesn't know the difference between an approaching train or departing train. That's all I know about it. Have a great Palm Sunday back there. Please take care and stay safe!
Hi Mike, that seemed so peaceful just sitting there, a rareity thing & its so quiet.Thank you & have a blessed Palm Sunday🙏🏻🙏🏻👋

Good one ! March is almost gone, how fast time flies.
I keep reading items about time moving faster. Maybe they are right.

I think the Italian trains quip may be satire 😅
Was that a Ric stop or someone he has trained? Sure looked "hot" but effective. All just to sit & wait for a few minutes. Probably get to Denver too early.
That wasn't Ric in the operators seat or on the radio

@benedmonson3445: Good eye ... I actually trained both of those engineers.
And just like that the green lights lit up and number five was gone.
Good morning, John; Thanks for stopping by along with the comment. 24 hours later and there is an inch of snow on the ground with more in the air out here. And the man who trained this engineer is bringing today's Zephyr thru in a 1.5 hours.
