I couldn't have children but sang this to my 13 nieces and nephews as babies and toddlers. Now they are adults, and they sign their cards with I am their Sunshine. Makes me cry with love. 💓

My grandmother always sang this to all of her grandkids. She passed away in Nov of 2021 and we played this at her funeral
She and Chris have “You Are My Sunshine” etched on their wedding bands. That’s beautiful in my opinion.

Morgane is happy singing in Chris's band. It allows her to travel and sing when she wants and to stay home with their kids when she wants. It would be different if she had her own band

That song always gets me. My late mom, died August 2019 used to sing that and Danny Boy (changing name to Shawn-y) to me when I was really little and then sung it to my younger sisters when they were babies and toddlers.
I love that he pulls back and allows her to take the spotlight. He's a gentleman as a performer who can take the supporting vocals role and blend when he could easily steamroll over anyone with his beastly vocals. That's the sign of a true musician! He does the same for other duets I've heard him do, as well. With P!NK, H.E.R., JT ... ❤

There used to be a TH-cam video of them performing this live, with Chris on an acoustic guitar. That was my personal favorite version of them performing it, but the uploader must've deleted it or something, because I can't find it anywhere.
I vaguely remember him and the crowd joking with each other in the video, saying Morgane "would look good in a truck."

A big CS fan and fan of Morgane as well. Have always heard about this song showcasing Morganes vocals but never listened to it until now.... always felt the song was kind of silly and not a serious song. This has all changed.... WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, silly me! These two CRUSHED this song and made it their own in momentous fashion! Morganes vocals and the unmistakeable guitar work of CS....... ear candy on steroids! Why didn't I listen sooner?? Morgane's voice is also showcased in "Amanda"... a MUST listen! Fabulous reaction from one of my top reaction channels that I frequent, TY.

This is NOT the song sung to us as children. This is more like an anthem belonging to the character played by Kathy Bates in 'Misery'. LOVE IT!
This was very good. Hard to keep the tempo slow on tunes like this. This is actually not a happy song, it's about loss, and longing, and heartbreak, when you listen to the lyrics. I keep thinking what would be really, REALLY cool is to see Chris and Morgane do a set with Tedesci Trucks Band! And, BTW, another really fine cover of this song is done by "The Dead South", definitely worth a listen!

This song is almost always given a light, upbeat treatment but the lyrics are that the singer loves someone who has left her/him & is begging for that person to come back. Morgane gives it the appropriate treatment.
They sing the original version of the son with the original arrangements. It’s a pretty somber song.
