Chris was just sitting in the audience with his wife enjoying the show when the band invited him to come up. He didn't rehearse or even play his own guitar and this was the result! Look at the guys behind him while he's singing.

Chris has a God given talent for writing songs, playing that guitar and for singing! I’ve seen a lot of reaction videos ask what genre is he in because it’s really not country. I say Chris is in his own genre called “Chris Stapleton” Because there’s nothing out there like what he does. This man is absolutely amazing!
He was in the audience listening to this band then no rehearsal came up and performed this on the fly ….. I mean really the band is the shadow boxers I love love your reactions thanks for the fun….

I don't even know how to put this into words correctly so I'll be blunt. James Brown, the Godfather of soul was a Country Boy from South Carolina. Here we got a Country Boy from Kentucky who fits no genre who just blows people's mind with soul and that Blues growl that's so controlled. He's been in a Rock band. Left a Bluegrass Band to release HIS OWN music, his way because of his Wife. I know her name just no idea how to spell it. We owe that Lady a debt of gratitude we'll never be able to repay.
