This is one of my favorite Chris Stapleton songs! It’s a song that you can interpret several ways.
When his first solo album came out I went to see him at an outdoor venue on Long Island and I was directly in front of the stage taping a song and I could not believe the sheer power in his voice and I've been to 100's of concerts. This man's vocals are something 👽

He uses this one for his acoustic performances. Its just the one he has written all of his songs on and feels most comfortable on not to mention it has great tone. Willie Nelson has a guitar that he has worn a hole in were his hand rests on it, he has used I think since the 1970's.
I think only a musician can understand the connection between you and your guitar
@@Raul-ef2ie when you find your favorite...you'll wear the varnish off it and expose the wood to the point where it might scratch you a bit but it's worth it.

I think the reason why he uses that guitar a lot is because he’s comfortable with it. As you can see it’s kind of worn. Some artist are like that.
Bottom line here is Chris is among those great story tellers

I came here to say the same about Willie Nelson's guitar. it does have HOLES thru it. It has a unique sound to it as does, a signature sound.The 1st few notes played & you can recognize that it's Willie playing. Just discovering , came across a video of him & his wife singing a duet & loved their sound. I don't listen to country music much anymore. It so different than the older

if THAT doesnt touch you straight to your soul, you're dead....No voice like Chris's...He is so talented, first playing with a bluegrass group, Steeldrivers, then a rock/blues band The Jompson Brothers. He writes songs, sings and plays the heck out of that guitar. Not many people can grab your attention like this with just a song and guitar. I love your reactions.
On the full version of the Tiny Desk concert this video comes from, someone asked about his guitar right before this song and he said he didn't do all the damage to it and he got it that way 12 years before. He then said out of all his guitars, this is the one he always ends up coming back to. (his wife made a joke about him having A LOT of guitars)
I saw Chris' concert on Aug 12 in Raleigh, NC, so yes he is performing live again!

It's a 1953 I think but a Gibson he's had the neck rebuilt but he has several guitars but this is his go to that's why you see it so much no telling the songs he has written on that guitar
When you good at something whether it’s sports, yet a chef, or a singer you stick to what works! For him that guitar means everything to him! Plus it’s one of the most expensive guitars they sell
The NPR tiny desk performances are great there usually mostly acoustic, Chris is awesome

Having seen Chris live, I can honestly say, he’s not the best performer I’ve ever seen live, but he is, by far, the best vocalist I’ve seen live.
His vocals are so superior he doesn't need all the other stuff.
I loved that B.J. mentioned that "this is a fly guitar". Asia was almost there...y'all should have picked up on the age of whiskey, the burden of this broken relationship, and the age and color of his guitar.

Re your guitar comment about why he plays it all the time. Artists feel comfortable with guitars and many often stick with one for as long as possible. Paul McCartney has played the same bass guitar since before he joined The Beatles and uses it to this day. I personally have the same acoustic for 20 year now. Love your reaction and love how you got Whiskey and you. ✌️❤️🇮🇪🎄
He simply likes the sound and the feel of that guitar
It's about the tone and hoe it feels in his hands, how it plays. A guitar gets like that from bring played over the years.

You asked why he plays that particular guitar and there is an interview and he talks about why he plays that specific guitar amd that he’ll never get it restored and or ever get rid of it. He and his wife said he owns 100’s of acoustic and electric guitars and that this one particularly is special to him and he’ll never get rid of it and will always use it .

We even name our guitars. Willie Nelson's favorite guitar, Trigger, has holes all over it, from him playing it for so very, very long. The longer we play a guitar, the better it sounds, holes, scuffs scars and all. Our guitar comes to be a part of us.

A players guitar that's worn from being played is like a old friend, they have been threw alot together and still here they are, together making sweet music, tatters n all. A man's favorite hat is the same thing, it's part of him, that hats seen alot of his life, another steady friend.

I heard In TH-cam interviews that acoustic guitar he’s playing with is the one he writes music to.
He rescued the guitar. It was caked with mud. Of course had to restring etc. it’s just his friend.
I think that's his favorite acoustic guitar. He wrote a lot of songs on it. It has a good sound to it. You guys should check out the guitar that Willie Nelson plays. It has a big hole in it lol. But, it's his favorite one and he plays it all the time.
He has a huge tour going right now, nationwide and some Canadian dates. Has been going for several months now. Lots of dates remain, but don't know if it would match your location.
That Guitar has covered songs in Honky Tonks across the South and, and like me its shows its age and every little bump its crossed. I love the reaction but the song has magic in it.

If you ever notice Willie always plays a certain guitar that has a lot of wear and tear. I have noticed Chris does the same. Willie says it has a certain tune he likes. Maybe Chris feels the same.

I fell in love with this song when Tim Mcgraw had it on one of his albums. Chris wrote it and he sang it better.
