Your channel is so helpful! Discovered it while doing research on what to do instead of replacing the bad catalytic converters on my stock WRX. Looking at doing a turbo back exhaust and I’ve already learned a ton from your videos in a day. Thank you
Great video, as usual. One thing im wondering though is: there's a lot of talk about warranty but what about insurance? I heard some companies won't even insure vehicles modified for more power?
Just purchased a 2019 STI, absolutely love it. Got rid of my 1.5 2018 accord which wasn’t bad but the STI overall has much more to offer and more that I can do without destroying that tiny CVT. Glad I found this channel, definitly looking forward to putting some parts into my baby, already running the cat back exhaust ( came on the car ), but looking to do more.
K03sport Accord 2.0 manuals are extremely hard to come by, as well as the type R, and when I happened to find a type r, they bumped the price up 10,000$ and it was 400 miles from where I live
Hey man, love the content. keep up the good work. I do have a question for you though... I purchased my first WRX about a year ago (2011 WRX limited sedan in PBP). The car came with an invidia catted downpipe, invidia n1 single exit exhaust, Cobb Accessport, SF airbox and Cobb short shifter and it is running the Stage 2+ OTS tune. The car now has 159000km on it and I feel it needs some love to bring it back to life.... I plan to get a Protune and AOS soon and I understand it's about the time to do the timing belt/water pump but... What modifications/upgrades can I do to improve the drivability of the car? The car is rust free which is quite a find for where I'm from (Canada) and I plan on keeping it for years to come as year-round DD (it will be winter driven). I'm thinking more in the realm of reliability as it will be a daily driver. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! also if any commenter sees this id love you hear your suggestions as well
Thats a whole novel! Lol the mods outlined it he video below will be perfect for what your looking for, all will enhance longeviry and reliability while maintaining the drive ability of the car 🔥😁 th-cam.com/video/V-OzkojIVJM/w-d-xo.html
Man i got min 3 weeks ago a 2019 wrx and love the freaking car. Took almost whole year to get an approval feom the wife but finally she said go get the car.
Honestly, love watching your vids. They are so informative! You give concise detailed reasons/explanations for your recommendations. After I watch your vids I feel like I can tackle anything on my STI.... No sure if this is good or bad for the Subie🤓😳 or my pockets🤑🙌🏾
if you go catless you definitely need a protune or an etune. you would probably be fine with a catted downpipe. my best advice stay away from cobb OTS tunes. stage 1 93 tune blew my wrx motor. just got it back the other day fully built stage 2 block now :)
@@Raven420 Stage 1 93 tune blew your wrx motor, was it totally stock? I just got the AP and am totally stock running the OTS 91 map (high altitude so there is no 93) and don't want to blow my motor!
JiBenJiBe yes it blew my motor. it’s kinda hit or miss with them. some people get lucky but i didn’t. ALSO don’t launch the car on a stock clutch with the launch control on the cobb accessport, be very careful with what you decide to do because the dealer wouldn’t cover my motor because it was tuned.
Just bought a 2019 sti, I had a 2013 sti before and ran an ots map from cobb with their downpipe and intake. Now I wish I got a pro tune for that one, because the gains didn't feel that significant but I just didn't wanna spend the extra money for a pro tune. Needless to say I'm going to do things properly this time. It does help the 2019 has stronger internals.
just blew my 19' sti stock, at 29k and denied warranty on stock car. Fuck SOA, and said f it, project car time.. Got a IAG stage 1 short block with IAG AOS, Bigger oil pan kit, 12mm oil pump, ap, cobb 20g turbo, grimmspeed dry con air filter, remark catback (str8 pipes).. injectors and fuel pump coming next. Doin it right.
Smeedia great content dude, but I have to agree/disagree on your 4th item especially if you are new to owning a Subaru and/or stick shift. I AGREE that a short shifter should be one of the top mods you do but I DISAGREE that it should be one of the first. I feel you should drive at least 20k on the stock shifter and then do the upgrade so you can really feel what improved. Of course doing it early is not going to hurt anything but you'll never know how good it improved the feel over stock. Keep up the great work, I'm so glad I discovered your channel.
Thank-you! And I see your point, personally i can't stand the long throws of the OE shifter and is always one of the first i swap. But for aomeone just lesrning or new new to the platform its not a bad idea to rock the OE one for a while
17 Sti. I was previously pro tuned w/ downpipe, muffler deletes and intake. Looking to get pro tuned again soon newest mod I’ve added is a catback r400 making my DAM drop very slightly around .983 otherwise is running strong. What else should I add to my list... EBCS, AOS, turbo inlet, ditching my bigsf intake for the new redline. Idk what else I’m willing to spend more but not break the bank lol maybe go TMIC/FMIC🤷🏻♂️ bite the bullet on lines, injectors, rails, regulator
Your DAM is most likely dropping for thr intake/Downpipe combo. Even on a protune the car cannot get enough fuel to support both while still operating at normal boost levels. I would highly highly suggest the Injectors, pump, FPR and AOS
Getting a Pro-tune is so worth it. But you are right throw some mods on it. Honestly if you are a casual fan like me going stage 2 is perfect with an after market intercooler is worth it
I run an intake and catless dp on stock injectors and fuel pump :) my tuner made it work. 1 year strong. i still need upgraded injectors and fuel pump to make the power im suppose to.
Smeedia my peak boost is sitting at 20psi. I was going to continue with mods to increase power byt then i realised hey, i dont have money if this thang blows 😅 so ill wait a little lol
Looking to pick up my first STI(2015) after Thanksgiving so I'm doing A LOT of research! I keep finding myself back to your channel, so I sub'd! Great mix of content and very informative. Scratchin' my head as to how your only at 68K subs. Let's see that SILVER TH-cam plate!!
Hopefully your able to find the one 🔥 if you've got any questions when looking around or after you snag one feel free to ask 🙌 also appreciate the support 🙏
Just got a 21 sti my first subaru purchase. Do you have a video explaining the intake vs exhaust thing where you can only do one or the other? And do you have a link to that short shifter ?
This is the short shifter 🔥 www.amazon.com/dp/B071VDKH4S/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_glt_fabc_7C0AVQVXV523SGXV4FPW?linkCode=ml2&tag=tanner0613-20 And you can't use an intake and a downpipe combo with an OTS Tune 🙏
Man, your videos are full of knowledge. Im looking to get a cobb accessport and redline intake for my 21 sti. I was just wondering if i have an injen cat back. Is it going to mess up if i install and tune with the ots they supply?
The Cobb Stage 2 off the shelf map made my 2004 STi run like crap. It actually made less power on the dyno than Stage 1. After 6 dyno pulls, my tuner managed to get the car to run smoothly. It made 262 AWHP and 293 AWTQ on 91 California pump gas. Modifications were Titek catted DP, walbro 255 fuel pump, APS 65mm CAI and the tune.
I don't even own a wrx or STI but find myself diving head deep into their content and engine maintenance along with mods. I guess id rather have an idea of how to start when I own the car eventually. Anyway best mod video I've found yet. All realistic mods here 🤘🏼
@@Smeedia okay so I can only tune with it if I use the Cobb CAI. And also would you say it’s particularly hard and do you have to buy the tune off cobbs website.
Yassss. First mod on my wrx was the kartboy shifter and bushing. It’s Like a brand new (and better) car now! Next for me will be lowering suspensions and sway bars!
New to the STI scene just got a used 2020 with 7k miles all stock but has a Kartboy Short shifter and Bushings ……what do you suggest for my next mod? Keep up the great Videos man !!!
Picked up my 2020 STI about a week before this video came out. Since then, got an Accessport and Short Shifter. Next week, getting the AOS, Turbo-Back and pro-tune done. Thanks for putting these vids together, I find all the product recommendations and mod suggestions/explanations super informative. Keep at it!
@@Smeedia Fingers crossed. Also have a Cyl 4 cooling mod and Cobb BPV going on as well. Just re-watched your "Path to 340 HP" video to start shopping next steps. Keep doing what you do, sir.
About to get the same style work wheels you have, bagging car as well what wheel specks and what all did you have to do to get them to fit flush when aired out....thanks
Totally agree because these are mods I got on my WRX hatch, with extra like drop in KN filter, rear sway bar, steel braided lines, DBA rotors/hawks pads and just good A/S sport tires. Look stock from the outside, but I’m fine with it. Surprise a bunch of cars
Just got a 2017 wrx , know nothing about performance and cars , trying to learn , any recommendations on where to get these items? I’m trying to compile a list
Who’s front air piece do you have and what’s the color of your wrap and did you mod your hood with the vents? I would like to go the same route you have done with those three modifications hope you don’t mind
I’ve read a lot of the comments below but just to clarify you’re saying the 15+ WRX (not the STI) is better off with both the higher flow intake AND a J pipe in front of a catback exhaust. I’m just setting up my ‘20 WRX and starting to order parts. I’m also doing Trophy Cup coilovers and a rear sway. I was advised to not do the front sway. I’m not building a track car but a twisty car...
It helps free up some easy power, the FA20 responds well to mods up to 400WHP. Those would be my go to first mods for increasing power on an OTS Tune if that's the route your trying to go
Hey man, I hope you see this, but I just bought a 2020 Sti, and as everyone does I wanna do a AP with intake and exhaust, if I did a cat back rather than a turbo back, would OTS tunes be ok?
Nice vid. IMHO, the aos isn't needed unless you're above stage 2. I've tested a few and daily, not even a film after months. On track a few times and never had a measurable amount of oil in the can. Yes there is some, but less than a couple ml. Imo Money better spent elsewhere.
I'm thinking of getting the AP and Cobb intake package, these would be the first things for my car besides a dual catch can. Would doing this and just running a stage 1 OTS be safe until I get a downpipe/exhaust and etune?
I’m in nj I have exhaust on my car but that’s all I know of I bought it used but I want more. I need someone who can look at my car and tell me exactly what to buy. And then a good reliable place to install.
Got a question for ya. Getting a 2019 STI because I love the cool grey khaki color, anyways what intake would you pair up with the Tomei catback exhaust system? Cobb?
@@Smeedia thanks for responding. Another question, kinda confused about something. In the video I swore you said no intake and downpipe on sti, but in the videos you said get a cobb sf intake and cobb downpipe. So, can I get a downpipe as well as the cobb sf intake. Thanks for helping. I've always been a Honda guy and falling in love with Subies. Your videos are really informative.
With the 2015+ STIs you'll need to get a basic fuel system to be able to run both. The oe Injectors will Max fairly quick unfortunately. You can use an intake + downpipe with a custom tune bur won't be using their full potential without the fuel system
So I'm the odd man out here, I really care about efficiency (with no increase in emissions) and smooth driving experience, lower end, linear power delivery. I've got a F20 FXT with three different mapping buttons, can I have a tune for each one? E.g. The standard one would be very efficient and the other two would be more aggressive. Can we tune to have the Miller cycle? Do any of these mods hurt efficiency? Doing the exhaust should drop a significant amount of weight relative to stock.
nice job bro ive had 14 stis from my first 2004 java black pearl bought back in 2006 (used) and back then if u saw an STi let alone an STi with a turbo back exhaust and blow off that was like seeing a Unicorn holding hands with polar bear lol. and ive also owned 7 WRX (x3 2002 bugeyes, 1 05 wrx wagon, x2 wrx widebodys and a 15 wrx.) and ive also built over 55 wrx, sti, legacy 2.5 gt, forester xt's and even a few saab 9-2 those were just ej205 motors and trans its basically was a wrx in a saab wagon body. but anyway keep up the good work love the channel.
Also when you do injectors you should look into getting some from fuel injector clinic, i had ID and they were a little small and i saw the price for FIC and im giving them a try, they come in a plastic case and have all the flow match data and everything else included. Customer support seems a lot better as well, sent them an email about a question i had and the owner of the company emailed back like an hour later. Couldnt be happier with the experience with them
Currently bought a 2017 wrx, looking to find all the best mods for it for Canadian weather lookin for reliability and little bit of horsepower. If you have any other ideas or mods it would be much appreciated thanks
Thank you for the very informative video! I just bought my 18 sti and I had a few questions if you could clear the air :) 1. Am I able to run a turboback exhaust with a stage 1 ots tune? 2. Are you running a catless dp or would you recommend catted, if so which? 3.Should i never upgrade my tmic to a fmic if i have a downpipe on the car? 4. Keeping your sti stage 1+ turboback+ fmic the safest option for your car? I really do appreciate the time you put into the vid ty.
For a turbo back you'll want the stage 2 map 😁 Catted downpipe 100% and either grimmspeed or Cobb 🙏 If you do swap the intercooler you'll want an Etune or a dyno tune. Safest option would be add some fueling mods like injectors, fuel pump and then get a custom tune done 🙏
Have a question about buying older subi’s from private sellers that have made and tunes already on there. What suggestions and things should I look out for when doing so?
just bought myself a WRX, sadly they have the crappy halogen headlights and was wondering where you got your headlight mods as i saw throughout your video!
@Smeedia I am extremly new to a lot of car mods and have been doing extensive research in making sure what I am doing is not only correct, but also, safe, reliable, and the most bang for the buck. In your video you talk about the '15+ not being able to run a DOWNPIPE and an intake, and then going on to mention turbo back. Would you be able to provide some clarification as like I said...I'm a noob and trying to learn. What exactly is a down pipe and are you say that if you are running an intake, you are able, and should do a turbo back? Or do you need to upgrade the fuel system first prior to doing so? Thank you for any feedback and really appreciate the help!
Super educational for newbie owners and I can hear your enthusiasm for cars, not sure what job you quit but you will make it doing this bro, your passion shines through your attitude sir 👍keep it up man, nice work
@Smeedia If we wanted to add both a cold air intake as well as a turboback as you said what would we need to mod fuel wise to help the vehicle keep up with the air it would intake from there?
@@Smeedia Oh I have a 2017 WRX no STI and i'm looking to finally make the jump to stage 2 using one of Cobb's Power packages. Purchasing Air/Oil Sep. as well; would fuel mods still be recommended? Got a tuner lined up and I couldn't be more excited!! I know i'm approaching needing forged internals for sure at that point. It's all a whole new experience.
I have a question I can't seem to get answered, I want to add the down pipe and cobb AP to my 17' STI, but I can't find the ots tune for it, I've already done catback, aos, cooling mod, and short shifter, do I have to find a tuner now ? Lol I really wanted to wait for next year before getting into the big Boi stuff 😅
To work in conjunction with the TBE, should an STI owner also have a 3 port boost controller installed in order to prevent over-boost, especially if you're running a pro-tune/more herse-pers?
Over boosting happens when there is too much exhaust gas trying to fit through the IWG, a boost controller won't help boost creep but will give the tuner more control over boost. To completely remove boost creep an EWG would be needed but a catted car with a EBCS would reduce boost creep a decent amount when staying IWG
You need the accessport to get a pro tune, almost every pro tuner uses accesstuner which is a software that works in tandem with thr accessport and allows the tuner to access the ECU to be able to tune the car
@@Smeedia maybe where you live but we usually use aftermarket ECU's including piggyback ECU's that tuners recommend depending on the shop. So pretty much straight from the laptop to the ECU haha. Haven't seen anyone use a Cobb access port in person, but have seen plenty of tuned subies.
@@TimberWulfIsHere interesting, what country? Over here we don't need tk swap out the ECU until your making big big power, ive seen a few car as in stock ECU with 750+. But aside from thr point I agree that thr OTS maps are awful but in the states the accessport is how almost every shop tunes
@@Smeedia Straya. We swap out the ECUs if we cannot tune them (especially on GCs or GDs) or install a piggyback for additional functionality including the ability to tune or for more complex tunes. Old cars have old ECU's.
I have the oem short shifter on my 2018 wrx and it definitely is better than the stock throws but I don’t see the difference between after market and oem for this mod
Thr after market ones will give a Much shorter feel. Ive used thr OEM ones in previous cars and always swap them out for after market ones. The difference in throw is night and day
Surgeline used to be owned by cobb, but bsck in like 2016 they became an independent shop, i had already have surgeline tune my older 07 STI so wanted them to do my current STI as well and they just did an awesome job so kept gling back there 🙏

No mods can legally void a warranty unless said company can prove the mod was the cause of the failure
Yes but all of the popular engine modifications are easily linkable for SOA to a failed engine

... what, no Accord Sport 2.0t 6M? Or possibly even the Civic Type R as it is very similar in price to the STi.
K03sport Accord 2.0 manuals are extremely hard to come by, as well as the type R, and when I happened to find a type r, they bumped the price up 10,000$ and it was 400 miles from where I live
Hey man, love the content. keep up the good work.

Lol the mods outlined it he video below will be perfect for what your looking for, all will enhance longeviry and reliability while maintaining the drive ability of the car 🔥😁

@@Smeedia haha sorry for the long question. Thanks for the reply man. I appreciate you!

Man i got min 3 weeks ago a 2019 wrx and love the freaking car. Took almost whole year to get an approval feom the wife but finally she said go get the car.
Glad to hear that you were able to snag one 🔥😁
For real, I had to wreck my motorcycle twice and her to find out we were expecting to get the okay to get the 19' STI. Absolutely loving it.
Honestly, love watching your vids. They are so informative! You give concise detailed reasons/explanations for your recommendations. After I watch your vids I feel like I can tackle anything on my STI.... No sure if this is good or bad for the Subie🤓😳 or my pockets🤑🙌🏾
Never hurts to try 😈 and thank you! Try to give some reasoning behind each choice 🔥😁
Do you need a pro tune after installing a down pipe and does the cob access port do the justice for a down pipe instal
if you go catless you definitely need a protune or an etune. you would probably be fine with a catted downpipe. my best advice stay away from cobb OTS tunes. stage 1 93 tune blew my wrx motor. just got it back the other day fully built stage 2 block now :)
Exactly what Tyler said 🙏
@@Raven420 Stage 1 93 tune blew your wrx motor, was it totally stock? I just got the AP and am totally stock running the OTS 91 map (high altitude so there is no 93) and don't want to blow my motor!
JiBenJiBe yes it blew my motor. it’s kinda hit or miss with them. some people get lucky but i didn’t. ALSO don’t launch the car on a stock clutch with the launch control on the cobb accessport, be very careful with what you decide to do because the dealer wouldn’t cover my motor because it was tuned.
JiBenJiBe also yes, i was all stock
What color is your car, i’d love that for a wrap with my white exterior for accents
Gloss rock grey 🙏
Thanks for all the videos Tanner, love how humble you are and willingness to teach.
Always down to help where I can my man 🔥🙏
Getting a Pro-tune is so worth it. But you are right throw some mods on it. Honestly if you are a casual fan like me going stage 2 is perfect with an after market intercooler is worth it
Oh yes 🔥
You said run one or the other intake or down pipe right? But you said you can increase fuel by getting injectors and a fuel pump.
Correct, if you want intake and downpipe on thr 2015+ STI you'll need to do a fuel pump and injectors.
I run an intake and catless dp on stock injectors and fuel pump :) my tuner made it work. 1 year strong. i still need upgraded injectors and fuel pump to make the power im suppose to.
The way tuners have been able to make it work is by reducing boost levels, which is the opposite of why people buy an intake and downpipe 😖
This is the short shifter 🔥 www.amazon.com/dp/B071VDKH4S/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_glt_fabc_7C0AVQVXV523SGXV4FPW?linkCode=ml2&tag=tanner0613-20
And you can't use an intake and a downpipe combo with an OTS Tune 🙏
So that is the first set of mods. What is the second set mods that you recommend bro?
That depends on what you plan on doing with the car, street car, track car etc

@@Smeedia thanks! Those look super dope🤙🏽
Smeedia, do not install both the air intake and the downpipe, applies for the wrx fa20dit too, or only for the sti?
Only for the STI
Hey I love your videos I would like to find out if you have a good tuner somewhere in NY NJ or a CT ?
Prime motoring is up that way 🔥
@@Smeedia Thank you for your prompt
Respond I really appreciate
I don't even own a wrx or STI but find myself diving head deep into their content and engine maintenance along with mods. I guess id rather have an idea of how to start when I own the car eventually. Anyway best mod video I've found yet. All realistic mods here 🤘🏼
Thank you 🙏 and hopefully your able to get one in the near future, definitely fun cars to own
For an intake can you use the access port to tune it at all or do you need to get it professionally tuned.
If your comfortable with tuning you can get the software from Cobb to do your own 🙏 but you can use the Cobb stage 1 map with their intake
@@Smeedia okay so I can only tune with it if I use the Cobb CAI. And also would you say it’s particularly hard and do you have to buy the tune off cobbs website.
Or how do you get the tune
I’m sorry for so many ?s. Just figuring things out
Yassss. First mod on my wrx was the kartboy shifter and bushing. It’s Like a brand new (and better) car now! Next for me will be lowering suspensions and sway bars!
Yasssss, people underestimate the short shifter mod!
Can you run turbo back exhaust and intake if you get a pro tune on a 17 sti
Technically yes as long as you have a protune. But imo it's not worth it. You'll run out of fuel injector
New to the STI scene just got a used 2020 with 7k miles all stock but has a Kartboy Short shifter and Bushings ……what do you suggest for my next mod? Keep up the great Videos man !!!
Congrats on the car!!! Definitely snag an IAG AOS!
@@Smeedia thanks man ! That was #1 on my list….thanks! #2 is to pick me up a Smeedia Hat ! Take care man !
Keep at it!
Congrats on the car and good luck on the dyno! 😁😁
@@Smeedia Fingers crossed. Also have a Cyl 4 cooling mod and Cobb BPV going on as well. Just re-watched your "Path to 340 HP" video to start shopping next steps. Keep doing what you do, sir.
That's the way to go. I would get a different oil pickup tube as well. Defi gauges and RECARO seats if you got extra $$$$.
@@EJ257IHI what’s an oil pickup tune?
About to get the same style work wheels you have, bagging car as well what wheel specks and what all did you have to do to get them to fit flush when aired out....thanks
The wheels were 18x9.5 +38, 11mm spacer in the front to clear the brakes, tires were 245/35/18 🙏
Totally agree because these are mods I got on my WRX hatch, with extra like drop in KN filter, rear sway bar, steel braided lines, DBA rotors/hawks pads and just good A/S sport tires. Look stock from the outside, but I’m fine with it. Surprise a bunch of cars
Hi
Would you please help me out with link fir the short shifter kits that you are suggesting please
WRX or STI? 🙏
Just got a 2017 wrx , know nothing about performance and cars , trying to learn , any recommendations on where to get these items? I’m trying to compile a list
Rally sport direct, subie speed, flat iorn tuning 🔥
Those would be my go to first mods for increasing power on an OTS Tune if that's the route your trying to go
@@Smeedia thanks! Yes OTS for now. Nearest pro/🦖tune is more than 300 miles away...in the Motor City
Hey man, I hope you see this, but I just bought a 2020 Sti, and as everyone does I wanna do a AP with intake and exhaust, if I did a cat back rather than a turbo back, would OTS tunes be ok?
Ots tune would be okay for catback and Intake.
For downpipe + intake you'll need a fuel pump and injectors too
Yes that should be fine 🙏🙏🙏
@@Smeedia Thank you 😄
I’m in nj I have exhaust on my car but that’s all I know of I bought it used but I want more. I need someone who can look at my car and tell me exactly what to buy. And then a good reliable place to install.
What are your goals with the car? Definitely ask around in some local groups and see if anyone would be down 🙏
Got a question for ya. Getting a 2019 STI because I love the cool grey khaki color, anyways what intake would you pair up with the Tomei catback exhaust system? Cobb?
Cobb sf, no need for their redline 🙏
@@Smeedia gotcha. So, getting a pair of ID1050 injectors I’d be ok to run both? Or would you recommend getting the aem fuel pump as well?
Both 🙏
Gonna be picking up my first sti in 2 days comes with access port thanks for all the information if anyone has any tips let me know!
thanks mate, glad i found your channel!
Appreciate the support my friend! 😁
Couldnt be happier with the experience with them
Ive used FIC Before theyre defcheaper than IDs and still flow great
I have a 2017 STI so I will do access port, AOS, Cobb catted down pipe, selenoid boost control, pro tune as well should I put the intake aswell?
I wouldn't use the intake without a fuel pump and injectors 🙏
@@Smeedia awesome you are the best

AOS, peoper tune and you should be solid 🥳
Is your headlight stock ? Does all newer wrx/sti come with that style?
They are the subie speed euros 🙏
Thank you for the very informative video!
I just bought my 18 sti and I had a few questions if you could clear the air :)
For a turbo back you'll want the stage 2 map 😁
Catted downpipe 100% and either grimmspeed or Cobb 🙏
If you do swap the intercooler you'll want an Etune or a dyno tune.
Safest option would be add some fueling mods like injectors, fuel pump and then get a custom tune done 🙏
Thanks so much bro for all your advice, it helps us guys new to modification...
Glad I can help 🥳
Looking at a 2020 wrx with a Cobb stage 2 tune already installed... looking at getting it late august 😁
Not a bad pick up if you snag it!
Have a question about buying older subi’s from private sellers that have made and tunes already on there. What suggestions and things should I look out for when doing so?
I wouldent buy a modified one unless it comes with a full build sheet, highly suggest finding a stock one
Is there any kits to get rid of the clutch delay valve? Like a different master or slave cylinder I can get?
I’m about to buy a new 2021 wrx is it a bad idea to void the warranty? Am I gonna screw my self over or can I have fun and do what I want?
That's a question for you, personally I don't mind voiding potentially warranty claims only because I know whatever breaks I can fix
I appreciate the information. Debating on a STI and I didn't know I couldn't do intake and exhaust together, I would have for sure.
That's only for the 2015 + STIs 🙏
@@Smeedia yeah, looking at '18+
Hello, I have a 2020 sti and I was looking at a stage 2 Cobb drivetrain package and I’m new to Subaru, do you recommend it ? What do you prefer ?
Personally I prefer kartboy but the Cobb is a great kit too!
just bought myself a WRX, sadly they have the crappy halogen headlights and was wondering where you got your headlight mods as i saw throughout your video!
When I built my OEM headlights I used diode dynamics goodies, these are just some PNP subiespeed ones
Super educational for newbie owners and I can hear your enthusiasm for cars, not sure what job you quit but you will make it doing this bro, your passion shines through your attitude sir 👍keep it up man, nice work
Appreciate the support and the kind words! Always open for questions when you get them 🙏😁
This video was super helpful and informative for someone new to getting into tuning
Glad I could share! 🙏🙏
For the AOS do you have to worry about the lines freezing in the winter? I’ve heard you have to watch out for which one you buy because of that
Only in extreme cold conditions where the condensation build up will freeze, IAG has a really good write up on their FB page covering it
@Smeedia If we wanted to add both a cold air intake as well as a turboback as you said what would we need to mod fuel wise to help the vehicle keep up with the air it would intake from there?
Fuel pump and injectors at minimum, only applied to thr 2015+ STI 🙏
@@Smeedia Oh I have a 2017 WRX no STI and i'm looking to finally make the jump to stage 2 using one of Cobb's Power packages. Purchasing Air/Oil Sep. as well; would fuel mods still be recommended? Got a tuner lined up and I couldn't be more excited!! I know i'm approaching needing forged internals for sure at that point. It's all a whole new experience.
For the iga separator, does it act as a catch can for the oil? Or does it feed back into the pan?
It feeds it back into the crankcase 🙏
If we can’t afford the a.o.s kit is a oil catch can ok to use.
Yes just remember to empty them 😁
Dumb question. When I try to but the Perrim AOS it asks " with top or front intercooler?' i dont what to select. I have a stock intercooler
What was the short shifter for the Sti?
Kartboy 🙏
I have a question I can't seem to get answered, I want to add the down pipe and cobb AP to my 17' STI, but I can't find the ots tune for it, I've already done catback, aos, cooling mod, and short shifter, do I have to find a tuner now ? Lol I really wanted to wait for next year before getting into the big Boi stuff 😅
Does this list still apply for older model STIs? Im gonna be picking up an 04 in a few months and im looking for a good place to start
What is that short shifter he suggested for sti?
Kartboy 🙏
A lot of subie owners I talk to do not recommend an access port over a proper tune at a professional tuner.
I went with Crawford V3 AOS. Just doing small bolt in upgrades... what’s your thoughts on the Crawford??
I've used the Crawford V3 in the past and worked great! Awesome AOS 🙌
I have the oem short shifter on my 2018 wrx and it definitely is better than the stock throws but I don’t see the difference between after market and oem for this mod
Thr after market ones will give a Much shorter feel. Ive used thr OEM ones in previous cars and always swap them out for after market ones. The difference in throw is night and day
Smeedia dang ok I also have a weighted shift knob so throws aren’t that hard anyway but I’ll check it out
I've got a 19' STI only mod a bolt-on catback exhaust. Very fun to drive my next mod a IAG AOS.
Yasssss, the AOS will definitely help with the blow by
Would you suggest a 2018 crosstrek to do a short shifter!? The shifting feeling of mine is not quite smooth.
A short shifter would feel better, not sure if anyone makes them for the croastrek 🙏
@@Smeedia Thanks for your reply.
Why did you choose Surgeline tuning vs other shops? I am in the Portland area and in the market for a forged build and tune.
Surgeline used to be owned by cobb, but bsck in like 2016 they became an independent shop, i had already have surgeline tune my older 07 STI so wanted them to do my current STI as well and they just did an awesome job so kept gling back there 🙏
