Hello, very nice video. Thank you very much Do you know if the problem was solved with some update so that I can put T7 SSD on zoom demand? Today I saw your video.
@@fotisbougas_filmmaker I’m not sure sorry, I think you can use a usb dongle to split the signal up stream? Chances are the usb ports on the demands are just usb 2 speed
So I’ve got a MADI card in my sound board. I’m wanting to route a computer input in the ATEM (input 39 1/2) out MADI 1 1/2. That’s all fine and I have working. My question/problem with this routing option is that on my sound board (A&H dlive with Madi card) MADI 1 is a mono input option. Is it not possible to split the audio or send dual mono L and R? Example: <Output id=“11111111” soureceId=“1234567” name=“MADI1 1 1/1”/> <Output id=“22222222” soureceId=“1234567” name=“MADI1 2 2/2”/> Essentially sending the left twice to output 1 and the right twice to output 2
so in blackmagic land everything is a stereo pair, so madi 1 is inputs 1+2 on the madi signal, madi 2 is 3+4 and so on. which can be confusing.. cause theres 64 channels on a madi line but only 32 on the blackmagic outputs but since its stereo its actually 64. so you cant split the source of madi 1 Left and Right, it always routes in stereo pairs, but you could patch it on the console separately. hope that makes sense
holy guacamole!!! this is exactly what i'm looking for!!! WOW
Great video it’s also worth noting that for a short period after setting the password it will briefly go to an error screen but then refreshing the page will fix it this is from a Mac though
Hey thanks , unfortunately for me maybe if it looks to good to be true it is? Def unot working , ive got a atem mini pro set up with 3 obsbot tail air . The obsbot app software has portrait mode but the atem aint seein it no matter how much i turn the atem , ...tried 2 different monitors , turned both to portrait / vertical also, still not turning anything
Sorry if this threw you off.. it’s an April fools day joke.. if all your signals are sideways including your outputs that is possible and I’ve done that before, but there is no rotations in the atem unfortubatrly
omg! you are a cruel cruel person ! 🤣😂🤣
Hi Ryan, are you not annoyed by the slow refresh of the pages when you scroll? If you run companion from the computer the refresh happens instantly. It drove me mad just looking at it from your video, I couldn’t handle it during an event 😅
not funny at all 😑 thought it's possible
at 8:50 you brought up an audio meter showing several audio channels. I have the Constellation HD 2 M/E and I don't see anything like that. Is that audio meter on your 4k/8k or some other device ?
Its the meters from the hyperdeck on the monitor out which i cut out and put on screen
@@RyanSomerfield That must be the Hyperdeck Extreme since the Hyperdeck Studio Pro that I have only has 2 audio bars for L and R channels. Do you know of any way I can monitor more than the two channels currently available on the Constellation HD or Hyperdeck Studio ?
@@bittenbyht We have a Hyperdeck Studio HD Plus, when you change the amount of channels to 4,8,16 etc the meters expand from 2
My switchers don't have the capabilities, but it's awesome, that they've added it.
I'm always having issues getting the DJI focus motor to stay stable on this setup do you have any settings you recommend? I'll just randomly lose zoom function
played around with this today and the new matrix routing is very nice! So handy to record backup audio ISOs. Thanks!
So we have an atem television studio pro 4k. I bought a hyperdeck thinking that i'd be able to seamlessly upload animated logos and video clips via an ssd, connect that SSD to the hyperdeck, and then that would recognize those logos and we could play the content live. So, from my research and briefly speaking to black magic, it's not that easy. It seems like we would just use the hyperdeck to record the stream and use the raspberry pie to do all the other things we want, which is instant replay, playing highlights, and run animated logos.
if you are looking for a quick drop any file and play, something like this is great. hypdecks are great for records obviously, but i use them for playbacks that i need to make sure work also. i render them all out first in the format it likes. but touch wood it works every time. if i want to drop in a file quickly and not have to worry about formats etc i use playoutbee or something like ProPresenter
@@RyanSomerfield thanks! I still haven't figured out how to get my pre-rendered content to be recognized by the hyperdeck. I tried the davinci resolve quick export, using the h264 hyperdeck option selected as blackmagic support suggested, and that did not work. What pi do you recommend? Should I get the 5 or 4? Would we need another monitor for the pi itself, or we'd be able to use the same laptop? One monitor is set for our camera multi view, but I think I should be able to use the laptop for the instant replay and uploaded media?
I don’t suppose there’s a way to route audio on the inputs? Like when you’ve got a POV with no audio, currently I throw in a pair of audio deembedder/embedder and grab some audio from another camera. Would be great to just do that in software.
What exactly are you trying to achieve? if you audio is somewhere else you could just enable that there?
nice job :)
Hey buddy. Absolutely LOVE this video. You’ve literally thought of everything! Question about networking - so, I head up the livestreaming and sound side of things for my church. The WiFi aspect of our tech has always historically been offline as we’ve only used it to connect devices to control the PA wirelessly. Now we’re streaming, ideally we’d like to keep all our devices on the exact same network, but simply jack into the venues internet connection. Is this possible by just taking a feed into my routers WAN port, or do I have to enable AP / bridge mode on the router first?
yeah so when i work in another venue i typically try and take their internet and throw it in our Wan in on a router in the system. This keeps our networks isolated so there is no cross talk where you dont want it. Its worth chatting with their IT department too to let them know what you are doing. there has been times where ive plugged in and randomly it dropped out because they realised a router was plugged in, some places dont like it.. so being on the IT depts team is always a good thing if you can. you could take wifi from the venue as a wan also but always take a wire where you can. I typically drop in some AP's on our side of the network so we have good coverage where we need it too
Help, i‘m trying tomrout my madi 1 through The „Microphone“ Input on my hd8 (Not sure what The microphone channel Strip is intendiert to be). Bit after changing that in XML nothing changes…
@@tobiaslehmann2305 just clarifying , you are trying to output the microphone input from the tv8 to the output madi 1? Have you tried using the webpage linked below? Then restored into the atem again? I haven’t tried anything analog yet so not sure if it works
Hi, thank you for your fast replay! Nope, I want to route a microphone converter input (madi1) to the microphone input, so I can delay it… From this channel it should go to program (1/2)
@@tobiaslehmann2305 ahhhh interesting, havent thought of this use case, theres a good chance this may not be possible though.. because the microphone input is a physical D-A Converter so might be treated differently. but that seems to be an oversight on blackmagics part to not be able to delay that... if anything it should be done on the converter itself..
What connection are you using for the Playbee?
Just HDMI out, now in my current rig its going in to a HDMI to SDI but keeping it all digital
Just used this today when filming our Debrief Podcast to iso out all our mics to each hyperdeck.
love it! Hopefully the new update fixes the output changing on the aux and this will be a game changer for sure!
Beautiful Trailer. Who built it ?
The client purchased it through Ali Express I believe, but was pretty horribly built, had to get it rebuilt 3 times to make it road legal in australia, had a wheel snap off and a bunch of other stuff.. definitely not worth cheaping out!
@@RyanSomerfield Poor buy. When you do such a build inside I guess you want to make sure the trailer you work out of is the best possible built.
i wish this feature would come to the HD models as well. seems link BMD doesnt care about the Constellation HD line since the 4K shipped
i hope so!
@@Andrew_Keller3 you are in luck! It just got released
What usb extensions are you using as that is a long USB run
It is, i have a 10m USB 3 Cable running to a powered hub in the control room which is adding some extra power for the decks, havent had an issue with it
Hey! I'm John, I built the prototype. I'm so glad you like it! By the way, your explanations of what it is and how it all works are spot-on. Excellent work, and I hope it serves you well! For those wondering, we hope to have the production model available sooner rather than later, but it may be a bit!
Thanks John! Nice work :)
Hey John! Any update when this prototype will be available to the market? Nice video @RyanSomerfield by the way!!
I'm hoping this had changed, but if there's 3 outputs per Zoom room that's a host, then we can't chain Zoom Rooms for 3, 6, or 9 NDI Outputs, correct?
this video is pretty old now, these days im using Zoom ISO which is only limited by the computers specs, I havent looked into what zoom rooms can do now, but im pretty sure its more?
Do you have a preference between ZoomISO v Cinamaker HD Recorder v Zoom's integrated ISO on an HD account? Just want a good quality feed for online interview vodcasts. A bit frustrated.
Hopefully middle control will be able to control Sony cameras just like blackmagic cameras
I believe they are working on that!
Thanks for walking through the setup! I'm curious of the largest audience size you've done a zoom call for. Debating the trade-offs of latency, scalability, and reliability between traditional streaming vs zoom for an upcoming call with ~1,500 people in various regions of the world. I've never done a call that large on Zoom and I'm worried that the experience will degrade with that many attendees. TYIA for your thoughts!
very much a case of it depends, zoom has been expanding its limits which is good. but ultimately if you are looking for a 1 way transmit (cameras off, no breakouts etc and not worried about latency) then id look at another platform like youtube etc. but it does do the job, if you have lots of people and want to do lots of breakout rooms with few people you might have to look at multiple meetings which we have done before. the quality should be consistent, but if someone joins on a device that cannot handle 1080 it may push everyone else down which i have had before. but if you are looking for low latency and cameras on etc, then zoom is by far the best :)
@@RyanSomerfield Thanks, Ryan! Very helpful
Cool products, but misleading title. I thought this was something that you made yourself. No, it's a product that you buy So DIY, no.
You can purchase modules and make it however you like, there are presets they sell but ultimately you can just grab the components you like and throw it together in a frame to however suits you
How stable is this set up? Just ordered everything and the new mini APCr.
Its pretty solid, Make sure your setup is perfectly balanced, the better the balance the better results you will get, super thin cables for vision etc is ideal too. it can be a little fiddly to setup but once its up its great!
What are you using for genlock?
Generally I just let the switcher do it and the cameras get sync from the SDI Return, but if im doing Virtual Production work I use the Blackmagic Sync Generator to sync everything
@@RyanSomerfield thank you for the information!
Think about it for a minute if you consider all the technology (hardware and software) resident in company’s like: BlackMagic, RODE/Mackie (now under the same company umbrella), VIZRT/Tricaster, Apple sheer computer power that runs very cool and with very little power…… Everything needed for a SIGNIFICANT evolution in a rig, more compact, streamlined, automated, scalable easier to use by all. Kinda like your blackbox of 3 yrs ago, but way more evolved and integrated. Right now the tech is broken up in pieces between various venders. Where is a BlackMagic PTZ Camera, where is an ATEM solution that has an audio mixer built-in? Where is that Tricaster software interface in a MUCH more affordable package? Why has not some company stepped up to take this all to the next level?
genius!
I think you mentioned a website in one of your videos that you could pull up on multiple computers and log in with a pin to share stream keys and stuff on a document. Do you remember that? I can't seem to find it.
sadly its been shut down :(
Love it !!!
How cool!
Been wanting to use something like airturn for teleprompter control but our teleprompter control computer is 2 brick walls away from the actual teleprompter! A wired version would be really nice to see.
We'd love to work with on this. FluidPrompter can attach remotes to multiple instances of the prompter app connected over the network (like a Cat5 ethernet wire between your spaces). Feel free to reach out via email if you want any help on this!
What about using an Elgato Telepromptor with an Elgato pedal?
It does work but the elgato pedal is fairly loud when ive checked it out, would definitely pick it up on a microphone
We could support the Elgato pedal for sure (and already support some other cheaper/louder ones too, like the Moman pedal on Amazon which also has a "click" noise), however, these are all momentary controllers and not analog controllers. Oh and I use the Elgato prompter at my computer workstation with FluidPrompter! (but use a bigger better prompter in the video studio)
The analog pedal is awesome. I’ve been controlling teleprompter speed with a mouse but it’s distracting. That should solve it. Thanks.
Fantastic overview Ryan! We are definitely interested in real-world feedback as you get to play with FluidPrompter in the studio. P.S. You can actually use both the AirTurn pedals AND a Contour ShuttleXpress *at the same time* with FluidPrompter!
Wow! I could see implementing this at our studio. I wish they had a hardwired option instead of just Bluetooth. We have a lot of RF in our environment. Currently using the contour shuttle express and it works pretty well and is wired via usb.
Yeah thats probably my biggest request would be wired.. but didnt see any issues once things were up and running though
We have a prototype with a USB data chip onboard. It costs a few extra dollars for an extra chip which bumps up the price a bit more. Would you want both Bluetooth and USB in the same device? Feel free to reach out to us anytime - we love real-world feedback!
@@FluidPrompter For our studio space a hardwired usb only option would be great. We will be testing FluidPrompter in our studio when I get back.
@@MorganHiu feel free to reach out via email if you need anything!
Wicked!
Looking at Zoom ISO myself atm, so this run through is great.
Really cool man, would love to get the best optimized stingers in tff format
Someone reverse engineered the api already? Would be great to control this via companion… or building a small app to simply click cross points and directly send these changes to the atem. Hope this comes for constellation HD and Atem extremes.
Thaanks a lot!! You saved me :D
Hi Ryan, 2 years going on this video and still with high relevance. Great job buddy. Just wondering.... after your Raspberry Pi has been set up for companion, do you have a on/ off procedure for it or do you just use the same power button for the big overall box to control all.
@@yemmyrichard7511 honestly I just plug in the power and pull it when I’m done.. I probably should shut it down but I don’t.. still works fine though!
@@RyanSomerfield Thanks very much.
Do I need an additional computer to handle the NDI or does the ZoomRoom computer get NDI input/output installed?
@@davidlook6670 the zoom room software will output the ndi feeds on to the network which can be pulled from other computer or device, if you are taking about control you can’t do anything on the zoom room computer, it must be controlled by another device
@@RyanSomerfield we will be using an IP camera as the video for the ZoomRoom. Do I need NDI Software on the ZoomRoom Computer - How do I select the camera at IP 192.x.x.x as our video source in the ZoomRoom??
I really love the idea, but those screens are too small for me.
thanks! honestly i didnt use them much.. but was nice to have when setting up to see whats going on
Blackmagic is never fully baked products... dissapointment
I do love the fact that they are releasing new things for free years down the track making the product more useful which is awesome
@@RyanSomerfield But they didn´t do it right. It´s simple for them to implement an "professional modus" - are you sure you know what you´re doing? - YES... and there´s the advanced feature set like advanced audio routing. Can´t be that hard for them when people are able to "hack" the XML.
Would you have a simple solution on how to plug in a pair of headphones and listen to the different tracks or the master mix? The manual is a little lacking in detail. Thank you!
Some of the atems have headphone out so you can select the headphone symbol on the bottom which should act as a "solo" to hear what you want
nice one … basically endless possibilities if you add a Dante <>Madi Interface to the gear. ;-)
Yes .. on 40 channel atem U have 24 16 channel audio EMBEDERS .. Impressive
