Today I will show you how to unlock the audio in your ATEM to route whatever you want to wherever you want.
At the time of recording this has only been released to the following switchers. Sounds like there is plans to release for more soon
ATEM Constellation 1/2/4 ME HD, 4K and 8K
HD8, HD8 ISO and 4k8

played around with this today and the new matrix routing is very nice! So handy to record backup audio ISOs. Thanks!
I don’t suppose there’s a way to route audio on the inputs? Like when you’ve got a POV with no audio, currently I throw in a pair of audio deembedder/embedder and grab some audio from another camera. Would be great to just do that in software.
What exactly are you trying to achieve? if you audio is somewhere else you could just enable that there?
You say that you can only access audio 1/2, 3/4, 13/14, 15/16, but looking at the xml, let’s say on input 1, 1/2 is “65536” and 3/4 is “65537” could 5/6 potentially be “65538”? Considering a gap is there between 3/4 and 13/14
Possibly? Im not sure how it would fail if its not correct.. someone looked into it here and looks like the numbers when converted to hex makes a bit more sense.. forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=200550 my only worry is theres a small chance if it gets a number that doesnt exist it could potentially brick it?? i doubt it though.. could be interesting?
Someone reverse engineered the api already? Would be great to control this via companion… or building a small app to simply click cross points and directly send these changes to the atem. Hope this comes for constellation HD and Atem extremes.
Just used this today when filming our Debrief Podcast to iso out all our mics to each hyperdeck.
love it! Hopefully the new update fixes the output changing on the aux and this will be a game changer for sure!

I meant to comment on this when you first posted it, but I was watching on my living room TV so it was kind of hard to do that.
This is quite the amazing find. This is going to be tremendously useful for a lot of people if they can get past Blackmagic's cryptic implementation.

Help, i‘m trying tomrout my madi 1 through The „Microphone“ Input on my hd8 (Not sure what The microphone channel Strip is intendiert to be).
Bit after changing that in XML nothing changes…
@@tobiaslehmann2305 just clarifying , you are trying to output the microphone input from the tv8 to the output madi 1? Have you tried using the webpage linked below? Then restored into the atem again? I haven’t tried anything analog yet so not sure if it works

Nope, I want to route a microphone converter input (madi1) to the microphone input, so I can delay it…
From this channel it should go to program (1/2)
@@tobiaslehmann2305 ahhhh interesting, havent thought of this use case, theres a good chance this may not be possible though.. because the microphone input is a physical D-A Converter so might be treated differently. but that seems to be an oversight on blackmagics part to not be able to delay that... if anything it should be done on the converter itself..

I do love the fact that they are releasing new things for free years down the track making the product more useful which is awesome
@@RyanSomerfield But they didn´t do it right. It´s simple for them to implement an "professional modus" - are you sure you know what you´re doing? - YES... and there´s the advanced feature set like advanced audio routing. Can´t be that hard for them when people are able to "hack" the XML.

Yes .. on 40 channel atem U have 24 16 channel audio EMBEDERS .. Impressive
Would you have a simple solution on how to plug in a pair of headphones and listen to the different tracks or the master mix? The manual is a little lacking in detail. Thank you!
Some of the atems have headphone out so you can select the headphone symbol on the bottom which should act as a "solo" to hear what you want

I tried updating the atem software control still there's no audio taps on the panel
So it may not be released on your ATEM, hopefully yet.. its not on all of them sadly.. but sounds like they are looking to roll it out for others, but my guess might be for the bigger atems

Shame that this functionality is not available on any of the Constellation HD models, or any of the Atem Mini line.
Im not sure about the mini line but chatting with the engineers it may come to the HD line? But yes heres hoping to goes to everything soon! but great sign of things to come I hope!
I hope they also repair the talkback bug on the Constellation HD models because you don't have control over the sidetone level at the cameras
@@ghost6666g oh? Which cameras are you talking about? It’s been a while but I feel like I was able to control that? But I could be wrong.. come to think of it that could be hard because in theory your coms would be coming back to you?
@@RyanSomerfield We are using BM Studio Camera 4K Pro G2s. The camera operators are hearing their own voices and can't adjust the volume.
