I live out here. A nice plce to camp near Vegas, Lovell Canyon. It's paved, free and 25* cooler than the valley. Up in the lodgepole pines with plenty of shade. Deer, elk bighorn sheep and the rest of the desert creatures. Lovell Canyon road off of hwy 160 near Mountain Springs. Nice and cool at night, lots of stars. It's where us locals go.
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing and we will def check it out. The mountain camping spots are perfect.
another great episode as always! Thanks for sharing. Death Valley is still on our bucket list! 💯
OMG do not go in the summer haha! But it's a must see in the cooler seasons.
Sean, you need to put some offroad lights on the top of the van for those dark desert roads. Great location!
That's def on the roadmap. Did you get any package that you like?

That was a nice spot you found! We haver not been to that one, I wasn't sure from the footage but it looked like it might have been a bit tight for a travel trailer? We love Death valley and didn't get there this year to see the water. Thanks for sharing this, nice job on the footage, story and editing!
Yes I think you guys might have been in the area from your past videos around Ballarat. This spot is a bit closer to Death Valley and there was definitely a bit spot that had a few travel trailers setup for a fun weekend. We decided to mozy further toward the mountains and there were more than a few groups we saw go further up the hills than we were willing to go. The roads def got dicey for the van a bit further up.
Thank you for the video, enjoyed watching it. I will be getting my 1st RV soon and new to this, so a few questions for you: - Any concerns regarding snakes and stuff, how do you manage? - Any safety concerns overall? - Finally, in the BLM where you stayed, if some other camper just pulls up and decided to camp a few feet from you, would u leave? Or assume they are a friendly neighbor? Would that be a safety concern for you?
Critters are always a concern out in the mountains, forests or desert but our general philosophy is if we don't bug them they won't bug us. The leave no trace mentality. So far we have encountered bears, snakes, and mountain lions and the only time I (Sean) personally felt at risk was the mountain lions since they did stalk our dogs for a bit on a mountain trail. - Safety is def a big topic out in the wild. There are lots of channels and people in the rv community that talk about EDC and personal defense. So far we have taken a few measure but haven't felt a risk or need to use it. We do enjoy camping as a group when we can, so the biggest scares have been when we are on our own and your last question has def come into play. - We have both had folks come into our space where we thought we would be alone, and we have arrived late at night to spaces that we hoped would be vacant and just weren't but we didn't want to leave and find something else. We have been fine so far and we do prefer the secluded public spots rather than a rest stop or Love's parking lot. (We have done it all and Love's has been our biggest scare so far)...happy to elaborate in future videos too!
@@VanDoghies Thank you very much for providing a comprehensive feedback. I will be going solo, so hope I'll make it in one piece :) . If you do a video on safety, humans or critters alike, would be great, including examples of what happened and how you mitigated. I will watch it for sure. Frankly, safety, is my biggest concern, specially going solo. Thanks again!
@@taurusview9 Solo travel is def a concern so groups could be the answer. Have you already looked at Facebook or Meetup overland/camping groups? That is how we have met lots of friends.
@@VanDoghies Thanks, my whole RV plan was around solo, and occasionally, wife and daughter. With your feedback, I need to re-think it looks like. I have not looked at any Facebook groups, appreciate the suggestion. Thank You!
Woo! I always like to catch a glimpse of Trona. Are you still looking for a tire carrier? I picked up the Owl Transit version in March along with B2 / Expedition box / bike tray. Really liking them. Opened up a lot of extra space inside.
Nice! Yes we love that drive to Death Valley and always enjoy Trona since that was our first big STO meetup! We actually ended up buying the Aluminess setup but the Owl looks amazing too! Are you hauling an E, mountain or road bike?
@@VanDoghies It's a gravel bike. A cross between mountain and road. They sit pretty high up if you also have a storage box so weight is a consideration for getting the bike up and back down.
Sounds awesome! Are you going to get the hydraulic door rails from Canyon?
@@VanDoghies Do they make those for the Transit? Getting something like that has certainly crossed my mind. I've been considering a length of cord tied to top of door just in case. If the Transit door locks give way in the wind the side of the van is going to have a really bad day.
@@robertsurtees4380 I don't think they are quite ready for the Transit but will def check!
Tha ks for introducing us to another area we didn't know about. Wow looks like a really nice campground area lots of fantastic drone footage very beautiful area. Seeing your doggies is like watching us with all our little ones. Omg first your breakfast with eggs and avacados looked amazing! That Friendsgiving ham looked incredible oh my so yummy!! Thx for sharing Safe Travels!
Glad you enjoyed it! Our group also has some amazing Beer, bourbon and cocktail lovers so you would both fit right in!
Hey we recognize some of them people! LOL! Looked like a great time & some serious eats!
Yes we need more NorCal/SoCal meetups like Trona! The community events are so much fun.
And yet another great campground we have never been too - thanks for doing this that place looks great! TH-cam drone shots were excellent as always, maybe even a little better 😊. And the food -omg you guys know how to do it! Seems like a great group of friends you have there. Safe travels ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Like you guys, we really enjoy the meetups for the people, best practices and mod shares, but the food is always the special bonus as everyone is sharing comfort with each other :)
That's a cute little town!
Bodega Bay is the best!
Tooooooo cute!
Thanks for watching!
We enjoy watching you guys! We also own the Storyteller Mode LT and 8 month Parti Yorkie. Kudos to you for having 3 dogs in the LT! God bless you both and safe and joyful trip!! ✌
Awesome! Thank you! Have you been attending any STO meetups this year? We love hanging out with other LT owners!
We are newbies and still trying to modify things with our LT. Is Facebook is the only way to get a hold of LT owners? We don't do social media...😅
@@mwren8089 TH-cam and FaceBook are definitely the most popular but I would suggest at a minimum joining the Storyteller FB group for the events and the awesome feedback on mods and fixes. We have met some amazing people and got some huge help from them on there! We are having a bunch of events through the Holidays too. Would love to meet you guys!
Do you pay in advance on the website? We are planning do the first come first serve too. Not sure how it works.
For the Provincial Parks (if not busy) we just found an empty site on the entry log and the Camp Host came around and took our cash. Pretty easy!
I couldn’t stop laughing. How precious Thanks for my evening humor
Glad you enjoyed it! He is a comedy machine over here
What’s the name of this site ?
That's Hurricane Valley, lots and lots of spots! Check our long for video for the full BLM sign
That winery looks great, do you know if they harvest host as well. or just hipcamp ? Nachos looked super tasty too... Bodega bay is one of our all time favorite places, we need to get back up there again. Last time we stayed at Bodega Dunes - I think Doran was full. They have fantastic Dungeons crabs up there. We watched Hitchcock's 'the birds' when we stayed, try to recognize the town after all these years... Simply cannot beat that kitchen view! your food always looks so delicious - love Adobo :) Great video - you captured the peace of camping by the ocean perfectly - well done!
Thanks guys! I just checked and they are not a HH, they have a huge lot and definitely have lots of guests all the time, if you haven't tried Hipcamp it's a per use fee like Airbnb so it can be a nice addition if there is not a HH in the area you are looking at.
Good morning. There’s nothing better than a beach trip. Stay safe
You got that right! Bodega Bay is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots
Love Yosemite.
It doesn't get any better
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing your family
Our pleasure! Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for watching!
Great camping location the reservoir looked really nice to visit. The doggies loved exploring it was fun seeing all the energy. That water was really clear and clean looking. Thx for sharing yoir experience we can't wait to visit Yosemite.
Thanks so much! You will love the entire area!
I know people won't believe me, but I believe my Rat who died came back as one of my SiberianHuskies who also died. The weird thing is the name I chose for my Husky was in relation to what I named my Rat, but I didn't even think about it and I didn't know they were going to have the same personality... it makes me wonder if he could possibly come back again, even though I know how lucky I am to have gotten him twice already, I'd love to spend life with him again. 🤍
Absolutely loved this. I’ve always believed they never leave our side. They go on little adventures here and there, but the bond is so strong, they always come back in some way. He will return to you for sure ❤️
@@VanDoghies Thank you, I hope so. 💕
New Puppy?
Yes! We just announced with a post too. We are so in love
Bail is like a rocket. I wish I had that kind of energy! fyi - STO has a small spacer that fastens under the temperature sensor that keeps the microwave from sending the temp reading to the moon.
She was a total rocket, good call. She loved Yosemite so much too. Thanks for the tip on the spacer!!!
What a cool place! It's been a while since we visited.
Thanks! Yes so much to explore around Yosemite, it's endless.
Great coverage of this area - its so pretty there. On our visit we left too late in the day, we got there and they closed in just 30 minutes so it was quick survey for us. We walked to the tunnel but did not get far into it. Got chased out by a ranger shortly after that. You guys at least made it a bit further than we did :) Was it hard to land the campsite there at upper pines? Usually Yosemite is a nightmare to try to reserve at. Your campsite looked great and the scenery around it so pretty. That caddy looks pretty cool, we may have to check that out, makes bringing stuff out to the grill and putting it away a lot quicker - thats a good idea. Love this one guys - each video you do gets better and better - thats what we all strive for right? Safe travels!
Thanks guys! The feeling is mutual your content is getting better and better! We did get lucky and started setting alerts for Yosemite which is critical for any of of the popular paid sites (although we found that many people will just show up and grab sites too, that is another story later in the year). It doesn't get much more magical than camping in the Yosemite Valley, we love it there so much.
Too cute!
Wow
Thanks for watching!
That's a really pretty area and was not even on our Radar - it i snow :) ... Too bad about the smoke/fire. This seems to be happening more na more these days.. What google says about the biggest reservoirs in CA: Name County(s) Volume (acre-feet) Shasta Lake Shasta 4,552,000 Lake Oroville Butte 3,537,577 Trinity Lake Trinity 2,448,000 New Melones Lake Tuolumne, Calaveras 2,400,000 So they are all in Northern part of the state. (Closer for you guys - right ?) Really nice Drone footage of the area - well done! And we visited the Hetch Hetchy area for the first time a few years ago - it's really pretty there too - Thats a pretty tight drive coming into the reservoir there right ? Seems like the national forrest before you get into the NP itself might have some good boondocking spots - did you find any? Thanks for bringing us along this was great!
Thanks for the info! We ended up only doing paid camping on this trip but will def have to go back and explore the Forest and BLM spots
Hey guys we love Tahoe it was one of our favorite places last year a great big surprise and we cant wait to go back. So many vans it was neat to see all of them and what they offer we are seriously thinking of getting something small for quick trips and remote trips like Alaska. Yoir pups are so sticking cute they looked adorable on the big chair. I think we went to to the same ski loft area but shockingly it was closed first week of June? Thx for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Yes I think they do close Palisades to convert the seasons so that closure might make sense! They have soooo much snow in the winter.
The views just keep getting more epic!!! We cannot wait for our trip up to Alaska so we can check out that side of Canada!
We are so excited to see what you explore on the way up north!!!
Making us beyond jealous with all these epic views and camp spots along this trip! 💯🚐
The views are endless (minus the smoke of course haha)
Another incredible episode friends! 🎉 Absolutely beautiful scenery! Slowly getting caught back up on your travels! 😁
thanks for watching!!!
We really enjoyed our purchases from this AVE! Guess what we purchased with end of season discounts in the comments below!
Hello and thank you for the video, if you did get that stove, please post a video on it, unless u did and I missed it?!
Thanks for watching! We do have some videos using the stove coming soon. Stay tuned! Might also do a short on it.
Tahoe is great - we need to get back there. This looked like an awesome gathering - love all the van options :). Great video - very informative and enjoyable to watch.
Thanks so much! Tahoe has some fun RV options as well, such a diverse spot.
Interested in what products you got. Great family photo of the doggies. I am hoping to come up this year. Will definitely look you up. Stay safe
Please do! It is a great spot to meet other van owners and interests. Also since it was the end of the AVE season the vendors all had aggressive deals and discounts. We ended up buying the Otzi grill setup, Inhabit Mats (very necessary), and an Aluminess Spare Tire Rack! All of the sales people did a great job. So Tahoe and Big Bear are some pro tips for getting discounts.
We loved sharing this journey with you all. From the near disaster with our power system to the breathtaking views of Banff. Please let us know if you enjoyed watching!

Our pleasure! We are so glad you enjoyed it Barbara!
Amazing landscape of the plants and trees. Great roadtrip and wonderful sceneries along the way. It is nice to visit and explore this place 💪
We agree! This was an epic road trip and we can't wait to see more of the area in coming months.
Wow that downtown area looks a lot different than when we were last there - it has grown a lot. Looks pretty nice though. The lakes are just beautiful - and seeing those goats was fantastic. Did you need to do anything special for using the drone there (registration, etc...) ? That is some great footage you captured. We really need to get up there again - its been too long. Thanks so much for bringing us along - it was a great trip and looking forward to the next one you guys do. Stay safe out there :)
Technically there is a recreational ban in the parks, but the delineation of the full location of the parks is somewhat different from the states because there are no official gates and some areas are fully out in the wild. So for these purposes we only flew the drone when we were technically outside the National Park :) The official rules are here: parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/info/permis-permit/drone and we do suggest following them to avoid breaking any rules.
