I mate, I hook them top lip only. If you hook both lips they’ll die. I use a wide gap hook for Flathead, can’t remember the size though. That was this time of year two summers ago.

Running sinker rig

I use two large star sinkers and it works perfectly keeping the trap on the bottom.

Thank you, it may take a bit longer but I let it warm up till the engine shuts off and continue driving it lightly pressing the accelerator. Been doing it nearly two years and the car runs as smooth as it did when I drove it out of the dealership brand new.

Been getting my rigs bitten off by Sharks a few times. I shake my head seeing people letting their dogs swim in there.

It attracts the fish, also it’s the colour of blood mimicking a wounded bait.

Do you have an aerator? If so they should be alive till tomorrow. Any sand bank there should hold a few poddies.

Yes they’re good at night.

Traps can be full in 10 minutes on a good day sometimes it takes 30 minutes.

I would pair it with a 5000 Stradic, much lighter but a 6000 Saragossa would be my size limit if choosing them. The lure weight is within the weight class for the rod so it won’t be an issue.

The eight of my lures is 21 grams, in terms of colours, red tape and gold tape jigs are my pick.

For beach I go for 12ft Daiwa Sandstorm and a 9ft Sandstorm for freshwater fishing
