Yeah I heard the gas cap can often be the problem if it's not sealing properly. I tried cleaning my gas cap too but it didn't work so it needed a coil replacement.
Great Video! Question, I took my '09 Camry to the dealer, scanned for codes since the VSC light and check engine light had come on before. Couldn't get it to stay on at the dealer, but they ran the codes history and noticed a knock sensor was faulty . Do you think that could be related and a cause for the VSC light to come on or is that a different issue?
At the start I knew it was the coils as I changed all of my spark plugs. I then took it to Toyota and they scanned it and gave me the report that told me which cylinders needed new coils. They offered to change it for me at a cost but I did it myself and now my vsc light is off and my car runs alot smoother and more fuel efficient.
Go to the dealer ( part department) ask them what part number for your model, year, make. Or you can go to online store after fill in question about make, year, model of your vehicle.
My vcs and check engine light been on for 3 weeks now, My inspection is due at the end of july. Ughh, I really don't have a lot of money to get it fixed. May I ask you how much did toyota charge to tell you which coils were bad?
@aft-fishing90 was taking them to the dealership they was changing them one at a time car was under warranty another mechanic told me I gotta change all at the same time did that still didn't work check vsc on my dash still till this day go and come with change in the weather
@@nathanielhenry1523 Have an ‘08 Sienna XLE. had all these random misfire codes (VSC) and even would have to shut my van down as the “traction control” light would blink along with the engine light causing the van to lose power and decrease in speed, till I shut it off and restarted it. And that would take care of it for a week or so then back again, usually one the Highway. So off to the shoulder again as the van would slowly lose power and buck and gas be basically unresponsive Seems like maybe the compression was changing over the 200,000 miles as i started putting premium gas in and the higher octane was the key.. as all the codes went away (once cleared) and never came back. Same spark plugs. I did change one injector (before I switched to premium gas) as it did have that code come up for the number 2. But the check engine lights would still come on. But same spark plugs on all 6 cylinders as those back are just too hard to change without a good reason. Again premium gas and all my check engine lights and blinking lights are a thing of the past and it’s nice having a dash free of those. (Those lights came on probable a dozen times in the past. But now problem solved for like 9 months now and counting.
I've had my spark plugs and coils changed by my mechanic, but the VSC and check engine light is still one. There is no more misfiring though because the ride is now smooth. And the computer does not detect anything else though. Even my mechanic is at a loss. :(
@@aft-fishing90 I'll have a take a look at those 2. Hopefully its just the fuel cap sensor although I think it's sealing pretty well since there's a hissing sound when I open it.
Thank you, described it perfectly. Well done!
I had the some problem and solved with cleaning the gas cap..

The knock sensor can also cause the VSC to turn on.
Cuéntame q te pasó? Será el mismo problema que el mío? Cuéntame que código te arrojó? A mí me arrojó dos códigos: P0348 y P0393
@@aft-fishing90 thank you! great to know. will have it replaced.
How did you determine it was those coils specifically

What if it’s just the VSC but no check engine light?
Best to get it scanned
Did your hybrid system warning light come on also?
This car isn’t hybrid but my new car I’ve got is a brand new Toyota Kluger Hybrid with no warning lights.
Hey man what is the part number for the engine coils?
I can’t remember but a google search will show the correct ones.

Toyota charged me $180 to get it diagnosed.
@@aft-fishing90 Okay Thanks for replying. Ima try to get a new gas cap, I’ve seen that fixes it sometimes

Changed all mines and it still happens

Might be a faulty sensor, best get it scanned.

Could be an O2 sensor or fuel cap sensor. The main thing is that you changed the spark plugs and coils.
