If you fly low and fast yaw then you lose control and you have no time to correct yourself right away . and I broke my left front motor and my gimbal cracked.😢 dawn that is very expensive Hobby . by the way, Dji have new update for the Avata 2 ? You could link on your DJI goggle 2 and goggle Integra also motion controller 😮 about time .

Awesome video! Best, most thorough explanation of the issue, what causes it and how to avoid it. I do a hard eye roll every time I see someone complaining about this on Facebook or in a forum, saying that it's "a DJI design flaw!" of the Avata and Avata 2. If people just had a better understanding of what it is and how to avoid it (and how to be ready for it if it does happen), I think there would be a lot fewer crashes because of it. I had a pretty good understanding of it before watching this video, but something I wasn't really aware of was the issue with the violent shaking when descending straight down. I knew that it happened as I've experienced it with both the Avata 2 and Air 2s, but I never really new why it happened. With your explanation, it makes so much sense that it's essentially the same root cause as the yaw tumble - you're dumping the airframe directly through the dirty air from the props. Definitely feels better knowing the "why". Thanks for this!!

What about PID tuning? On fpv all what you described is because of bad PIDs, by adjusting them one can totally eliminate prop wash and thumble...

Tried your rates the other morning felt good. My second attempt at manual felt sluggish before had bout 6 hours in a sim did use that pause button more than once though 😅

The technical terms for descending into your own prop wash is settling with power or vortex ring state. Impress your friends....lol.

Hi Justin, just got my Avata 2 a couple weeks ago and have been enjoying your videos. I had this yaw tumble happen to me twice on Saturday -- freaked me out the first time! Luckily I was high enough up to recover easily, both times. Nice to know what exactly causes it, as I'd definitely been doing some hard yaw turns - thanks. Anyway keep the videos coming...so jealous of your location and scenery!

Thanks! Is yaw tumble factored in Sims like Liftoff? I suspect it is, but weeks like to know for sure because I'm preparing for Manual Mode. I think I'm experiencing prop wash in fast turns sure to using too much yaw and it seems that the turns is very drifty. Maybe I'm constantly going through prop wash on those tight turns?

how do I reverse the control descend and ascend on the rc of my avatar 2? after 30 years I couldn't get used to it without reversing this control. you have to be able to really personalize these controls !!

Damn, these Freewell filters are a nightmare to get off the camera. It seems the only way to break them in is to eventually wear out either the nubs that hold them onto the camera or the edges of the camera lens itself which is not ideal. They're also difficult to keep clean with the glass recessed under the plastic edges. If I'd known this I definitely would've gone with the DJI filters.

@JustinBainbridgeYT Justin (or anyone else), what setup are you using to record voice? Any tips for how to make it easier to later match up audio and video? I'm not talking about how to do it in an editor, but how to more easily manage later finding the matching audio clip for a video clip. Do you do something on camera that you later edit out or is simply a question of matching files by timestamps?

My Avata 2 drone lost signal with the goggles and landed on its own without RTH kicking in. I had a total loss of signal to the goggles. The drone was about 1 mile away from me when it lost contact with the goggles. I had to start walking towards where I lost the drone, praying it was findable. When I got about 1/2 mile from the drone, it reconnected to the goggles and I flew it to where I was standing. There were storms coming too, but at the time, it wasn't raining. Is there any connection to the storms and clouds in the area to my losing TOTAL signal to the drone? It did not RTH and that is dangerous.

I haven't watched the video yet but I'm going to say buy both! I just got the avatatataa 2 so one more to go. For now.....

Just bought a few Freewell ND filters after this and they are great, but how the hell do you remove them lol!! Any chance of doing a quick video of putting on and taking off please? Putting on, easy…but is there a method/knack of removing them please?
