Skyd goes to the 99th Laconia Bike Week to Check out all the cool motorcycles!
Although it was rather windy and a bit cloudy we had a really nice day to stroll Weirs Beach for the 99th Laconia Bike week. For those that don't know, this is the oldest motorcycle rally in the world. We went down early in the day to avoid big crowds and have a look around.

Shaping My Dirt Bike Seat to remove the Hump - Hawk 250

    Sounds stupid, I know, but I LOVE the color choices on thes RPS Hawk: Honda Red, "Yomama" Blue, and Kawi Green! Wish the DLX came in those colors and white. I agree with you, MotoCheez, and many others that these bikes are a great value in many ways, especially since pioneers like you have demystified them and their idiosyncrasies for U.S. Bought a Honda XR150L last year for my daughter's b-day and paid more than double for what isva made in China, assembled in Mexico Honda that is likely a very close cousin of the Hawk. Thanks again for shining a light on this bike, for sharing it with U.S., and for your graciousness in sharing your spotlight with MotoCheez. You two have earned a prominent spot at the entrance to the China Bikes' Hall of Fame!

      Engine sounds are super hard to diagnose without being there. Sounds like maybe just a ticking valve train. If you checked your valve lash and it's in spec then hard to say exactly but I like to start with decent oil and when you change the old check for excessive metal shavings or chunks.

I don't know that there's any calibration in the speedo unit however I do know that the sensor in the tank is often set wrong. It doesn't bother me enough to pull the gas tank off and risk the gasket for the sending unit leaking though

      @@skydcontrol I have a new RPS Hawk X 250 and my analog speedo and gas gauge are - as you said, comically off. There's no tach and I really have no idea how fast I'm going or how much gas I have smh. Not a deal killer but, like, really? And I think you're right - its more than likely the sensor in the gas tank.

      It's just a go pro Hero 4 silver on a chin mount. Works good and doesn't seem to overheat and shut down like some of the newer go pro cams

      It's just a simple lift stand, I think it has a 300lb capacity - you can get them on amazon - amzn.to/3CKWoZ9

    My valve adjustment experience has taught me to keep the feeling gage in the valve tappet while snugging down the lock nut. Great video and helpful for others. Thought I'd share a help too.

      ya, it can be tricky to tighten the lock nut without closing up your gap

    Just wondering why you put the handlebars on backwards?

    • @skydcontrol
      @skydcontrol ปีที่แล้ว

      I get this question enough to wonder if I'm being trolled at this point? LOL - they're not on backwards. It's a combo of the type of bars, the fact I have them rolled forward a few degrees cause I'm tall, and the gopro camera angle.

    Just a little help I did the valve adjustment and the bike runs smooth. But now my top speed has lower was 70 now 63-65. Its like I loss top end power and before my valves had no clearance.

    • @skydcontrol
      @skydcontrol ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, that's odd. Shouldn't really make a difference in top speed. Although if you fiddled with the carb at all while the valves were tight, it might need to be readjusted now.

      Terrible. HAHA - it's just not built for that, will handle some small hops and stuff but I wouldn't jump it.

    Hey bro I live in New Hampshire too. How can I find out about where all the dirt bike trails, power lines, train tracks, sand pits , etc are that we can ride? .. great video btw

    • @skydcontrol
      @skydcontrol ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the legal places to ride are few and far between in certain parts of the state. Power lines are usually off limits because they're private property, though some people allow it. I usually look for Rail trails and Class VI roads. Good luck!

    Don't plan on riding it if you've had a little shot of rain. Because you won't have any spark. So far I've got 90 miles on mine. Had to replace the solenoid before mile 30. The Chinese can copy everything but quality. It is always stored inside.

    • @skydcontrol
      @skydcontrol ปีที่แล้ว

      I literally rode mine in a downpour for about 10 miles. No problems yet. I agree though, the quality control is the weakest link

    I just my plug out and adjusted the valve lashes and put everything back together and now my bike won't fire. Is there something I can do to get it back to starting?

    • @skydcontrol
      @skydcontrol ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd double check the valve adjustment. If they're too tight the bike will start hard. Make sure you're using the T line not the F, and make sure you are on the compression stroke, not the intake stroke. Common mistake and it can make a big difference.
