Great tutorial and fantastic looking trees!! Do you make any of them for sale?? I would definitely like a dozen of the green fur trees and 6 of the yellow Aspen. Please let me know, Happy Holidays!!....Tom
Wow that was really the best technique I’ve seen for this type of tree. Thank you for sharing that
Happy you found the technique of use. Have fun building! -grant
🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🚂 Um dos melhores layouts em escala N! Grande inspiração!
Muito apreço, obrigado.
😮
Mais um excelente vídeo!!
Merci Beaucoup!
@@SouthernAlbertaRail opa sou do Brasil Mr. Forte abraço!
Oops! Desculpas meu amigo, obrigado.
Very, very nice!! You almost make me want to change from HO to N.
Haha thanks. Started in HO myself and made the switch to N back in the 80's just so I could more accurately model the wide open spaces of Southern Alberta. Cheers. -grant
I may be using the wrong Sisal Twine. Mine is 1 ply that I bought in a 500ft roll. . I can't seem to get the strands separated evenly. I've tried 3 trees so far but feel like the twine you are using is thicker therefore provides more strands?
The Sisal I use is single strand designed for baling therefore it is fairly stiff. If you have the softer stuff it is tougher to work with. I find it won’t hold it’s shape as well either when spun up.
@@SouthernAlbertaRail Thank you for your reply. Is it possible for you to take a picture of the product label? Tractor Supply has many versions, perhaps you can recommend one of their products? Thanks again.
Beautiful layout!!
Thanks a bunch. Glad you like it! - grant
61 years old and about 3 months into the hobby. DCC-N You are an inspiration. Cheers.
Hey thanks for stopping by for a look. 3 months in and piles more super happy fun times to go. Cheers.
amazing. What color spray paint for the fascia boards ? - is it just matte black ?
Not straight black, more of an extremely dark gray eggshell finish latex rolled on.
very nice. Did you find that worked better than a very dark green ?@@SouthernAlbertaRail
Personally yes. Black or dark grey is neutral and goes un-noticed and that to me is the point of a fascia. It is the frame around the art which is the layout. It shouldn't distract but rather highlight the art.
Need an updated layout tour
Thinking that myself. I want to get a wee touch more done before I get to it.
@@SouthernAlbertaRail excellent
Perfect 👌😌
Cheers! Glad you like it.
Thank you very much! This video is really helping me. And your trees look fantastic!
My pleasure. Awesome to hear that the video helped out. Cheers. -grant
Just recently subscribed, you have the best scenery (trees, grass, & rocks) that I have seen on TH-cam ! Nothing compares, in my opinion !
Wow thanks, really appreciate that, and welcome to the channel! -grant
GRANITE!! Always love popping in to see how the layout is looking and sometimes just to railfan a bit. I hope you, Heather and Brogan are doing well. Cheers Grant!
Hey Trace good to hear from you. All well out here. Hope you and family are the same. Cheers Pal!
As an HO modeler, I am amazed at what you have accomplished. The scenery is spectacular, and the smaller trains run so smooth it is difficult to imagine this being N scale. Nicely done!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that. -grant
6:58. Oh, you'll do it justice alright. We have no doubt in you.
Thanks for the encouragement David. Hoping to kick off rough scenery before end of year. -grant
fantastic scenery!
Thank you so much. Hoping to get a bunch more done over the winter. Cheers. -grant
great work as usual !
Thanks for watching and for the comment! Cheers.
I never would have guessed this was N-scale until I heard it mentioned around minute 7 or so. Amazing.
Hey thanks a bunch. One of the best compliment an N scaler can get... Doesn't look like N. Cheers. -grant
@ I've been considering building a small model railroad again. Been debating N or back to HO. Both have their benefits and pitfalls
Absolutely. I think N scale is more suited to larger spaces and HO shines in the shortline/switching setting. N scale can't pull off switching as well as HO and HO doesn't give you the feel of distance and space quite like N. Have fun!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your technique. I've watched a LOT of tree making tutorials, your trees look very realistic. I can't wait to start making my own!
Thanks, I’m glad you found the technique helpful. Have a blast making yours. -grant
Wow i love your layout and your models! Amazing work my friend.
Thanks so much, really appreciate that.
Your welcome!
