I’ve really enjoyed following along on this series. Your presentation style just works so well and it’s always wonderful being invited to follow and witness this side of the railway “behind the scenes”. Love seeing that F45 and SD40-2 tease in around the early minutes of this video.
Grant , anytime you open the track, is a great day. I will be looking forward to the next step on series. Those trees are very cool! The video on the building of them is well made
That it is Will, trains on the move again is a great feeling. Hoping to get the next episode in the Lundbreck series finished up over the next week. Cheers!
They do Ron. I was working up in Edmonton for a few of the games during the western finals. Good energy in the city. Would be nice to see my friends up north have cause for celebration. Cheers!
Just discovered this layout and wow. Very nice. I’m modeling Japanese narrow gauge in 1:150 and I’m going to use your tree making techniques. Just a gorgeous layout.
Another fantastic video! I will throw in a plug for becoming a member. The member videos and very informative and explain the hows and whys of this magnificent layout. Personally, I know my approach and enjoyment of model railroading in n-scale has been positively impacted .
Hey thanks for that, very much appreciated! Hoping to get part 5 of the Lundbreck series in the books here soon. Took on part time job that has turned out to be full time plus.... Should have some time off in a few days to really get at it for you guys. -grant
Thanks for that. As for an update... Various other projects have kept me hopping over the summer. There has still been some progress on the layout, I just haven't had a chance to record a vid to cover it. I hope to have some free time in a few weeks and get something posted. Cheers!
Another great video. Isn’t it frustrating that you can’t find a simple item anywhere? White crayon, really? Are you going to see the big steam loco leaving Calgary?
Surprised me about the crayons... Not as much as the alternative the young man at Staples gave me. Thought chalk would work just as well...... Perhaps some more science schooling would be beneficial for our young people! Likely watch 2816 as it stomps out of town. The mainline is within walking distance of my front door. Cheers Garry!
It never occurred to me to ask: this is the Crowsnest Subdivision; have you ever shared notes on the whole SAR system? Is there a SAR beyond what’s on layout? -Chris
The Sulphur trains is 48 cars long running with 2 on the point and a tail end DPU. The 3 extra units in the middle are manned pushers required to get the train up to the top of the 1.85% grade.
I take it you have "classes" of locomotives? Your SD70s are numbered in the 700s and your SD40s are numbered in the 400s. In writing out this comment it makes sense why. Do the second numbers mean anything? On my freelance, the SD40 rebuilds are numbered in the 700s, with the tens-place denoting what they were rebuilt from, SD45s, SD40-2s, SD40T-2s or 45T-2s, SDP45s, etc. I am wondering if you are doing something similar. Once again your videos tempt me to switch from HO to N, those long trains are absolutely fantastic.
Yes I do, good eye. The 4000 HP SD70mac's are 701 to 713. There are 3 SD70macT1's (flared rad), 721 - 723 and the SD70ACe's are in the 730 series. SD40-2's are 400's with no particular scheme other than the lower odd numbered units... 401, 403 and 405 were set up as Locotrol masters. There are a few SD40M's on the layout as well rebuilt from SD45's. Check out this video for more on that. th-cam.com/video/8_UMorYy-qE/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching and the great question. The roster has evolved over time and there are other classes of locomotives that live in the drawers under the layout. They show up from time to time when I feel nostalgic. I plan on doing a roster video one of these days to go over this in more detail... Cheers! -grant
Ahhh . . . . yes. My favorite N Scale layout! Thanks for sharing Grant. Cheers.😁👍
Hey thanks for stopping by for a look Boomer. All the best!

It’s hard to believe but I’ve seen almost every video of this layout and every time I see it again I’m just as blown away as the first time. Amazing!
Wow, thank you so much! Cheers. -grant

Thanks for dropping by for a peek! -grant
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
What happened to the "update in about a month with scenery roughed in"?
Love this layout, concept, and your scenery.

Great update. Who knew there was an international shortage of crayons 🖍️
Canadian Parliament is likely debating a "wax tax" and thus the shortage.... Cheers!
@@SouthernAlbertaRail I had a look over here and they worked out over one British pound per crayon on Amazon. 😳
That's crazy. I grabbed 6 dozen for $20.00 CDN. Shipping was twice that though.........
@@SouthernAlbertaRail well I’m about to be charged around $85 Canadian for NARC boxcar so I guess it’s all relative 🤔
Ouch.... It certainly is Pete!
It never occurred to me to ask: this is the Crowsnest Subdivision; have you ever shared notes on the whole SAR system? Is there a SAR beyond what’s on layout?
-Chris
There is more than just the Crowsnest Sub. I should do a video on that one day! Cheers.
Sorry for all the comments but instead of melted white crayon could you use Liquid Paper?
It would be costly to do so Chris and you couldn't do the torch pass to even things out.
what's the number of cars/engines of that sulphur train ?
The Sulphur trains is 48 cars long running with 2 on the point and a tail end DPU. The 3 extra units in the middle are manned pushers required to get the train up to the top of the 1.85% grade.
@@SouthernAlbertaRail nice...i run a 85car coal train (bathtubs, each 44grams) with 3 sd40-2 on the point. 1.1% grade.
