This unique project features a thoughtfully arranged floor plan centered around a lowered courtyard, seamlessly extending the living room with glass sliding doors for full integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. Surrounded by mature almond and cedar trees, the first floor is built using a thin steel structure, providing natural sunlight filtering and temperature regulation.
The design emphasizes environmental comfort with glass façades and sliding doors that ensure cross-ventilation and a close connection with local wildlife, including sagui monkeys and various bird species. The living room on the first floor is surrounded by vegetation on three sides, enhancing the connection to nature.
A staircase links the ground floor, first floor, and roof, offering breathtaking views of Brasília’s city plan and the Monumental Axis. With minimal changes to the original stone masonry, the project also incorporates materials like granite flooring on the ground floor, ipê wood flooring on the first floor, and kumarú wood for the ceiling, countertop, and kitchen finishes. This harmonious blend of materials and design showcases a deep respect for both the natural and built environments.

The small vertical pipes drastically reduce the need for massive steel beams. I am sure that the architect did n’t want to compromise, but financial reality is a thing. Also, the massive beams would’ve affected the roof line.
