EcoBreeze House, located in the bustling heart of Ho Chi Minh City, is a rare architectural marvel that seamlessly integrates nature into urban living. This project, designed to create a harmonious connection between humans and their environment, stands out amidst closely built houses, offering a refreshing breath of nature within the cityscape.
The homeowners opted for a steel structure over conventional reinforced concrete, paired with an extensive use of wood materials to foster a natural and organic living space. A key aspect of the design is the incorporation of feng shui principles, particularly in the kitchen, which is strategically placed without any functional spaces above it and oriented 45 degrees from the house's main direction.
Central to the design is the innovative "Double Skin Facade," featuring a thermal wood louver system on the exterior and an inner sliding glass system, both secured to a robust steel frame. This facade effectively regulates sunlight and wind, enhancing the house's "breathable" characteristics while aligning with feng shui principles.
The ground floor design pushes auxiliary spaces to the side, allowing a garden to occupy over 45% of the land area, surrounding three sides of the main functional space. This layout enables the family to interact with nature horizontally, creating a seamless blend between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Vertical integration of nature is achieved through the centrally positioned kitchen, enhanced by an overhead skylight. This design forms a perfect vertical axis connecting the indoors with the natural environment, allowing native trees with large canopies to thrive within the house.
Each functional space within EcoBreeze House has its own unique story. The first-floor corridor, with its warm wooden flooring, creates a cozy ambiance and connects the bedrooms with the shared living space. This corridor also serves as a communication bridge, allowing family members to interact even during rest time.
EcoBreeze House reflects a deep appreciation of Vietnamese culture and climate, eliminating boundaries between humans and native nature. The design encourages children to play freely within the house while experiencing the distinct movements of the surrounding environment. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design can create a sanctuary that breathes and lives in harmony with its urban surroundings.
