A model trains railway
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 เม.ย. 2019
Model railway train set.
A huge layout 1,500 feet long, 14 tracks that can run 26 trains at the same time with 106 trucks and 187 coaches all going simultaneously. OO gauge with some HO gauge trains.
105 buildings and hundreds of trees and animals. There is 3 km of wiring with automated signalling. I am not a highly skilled modeler or have a good knowledge of trains, but enjoy making things and driving as many trains as possible at the same time as realistic train speeds. Trains were built to get passengers from A to B as quickly as possible.

Successful testing my sixth track
I have just completed my sixth track with working lights in my model railway in the loft. A few faults still need to be ironed out. Two trains run on the same track using a DC controller, but a digital control box stop them colliding. Enjoy, kind regards , Philip

Rebuilding my top track after boiler repairs.
มุมมอง 4752 หลายเดือนก่อน
My loft OO gauge model railway is in the way of the boiler that needed repairing and the wife likes heat in the house. Running of the trains were suspended whilst boiler repairs were completed. The good news that everything is working again and there is heat in the house.

A massive running session with 8 locos, 104 trucks and 97 coaches all running at the same time. I started the trains up and let the 5 digital boxes prevent the trains running into each other. My loft model railway has plenty of train action. Enjoy, kind regards, Philip
Electrification of the West Coast Mainline
มุมมอง 3023 หลายเดือนก่อน
A model train railway is making the electrification of the West Coast Mainline at long last so the Pendolinos can run. How they worked before is anybodies guess. Probably the magic of OO gauge. My loft train set is slowly being improved. I have not finished all of the catenary, but I wanted to get this video out for your enjoyment. Please do like and subscribe, kind regards, Philip
A model train railway shows off the Class 45, Peak

I have been away on holiday so I have not had the chance to film a new video. This is a video I have changed so here is chance to see it again, but much improved. My next video is on the overhead wires being installed, a long process, but still faster than real life. High Speed 2 verses other train speeds. I am away on holiday so I have re-released a video that was not so successful as I was having You Tube difficulties as the time. I thought it was one of my better videos. High Speed 2, railway model OO gauge trains shows its speed. I have used my trains just to demonstrate how fast HS2 will be. You have to excuse the lack of models, and I have had to make...

It's all coming along very well. You may have to do an environmental impact report to assess the impact of your tree felling and encroachment of the green belt. Good look with the rest of the build.
Well done Philip!
Thanks, the new marshalling yard is now started which is a little exciting, regards Philip
@@model.train.railway. Not going for a hump-shuning yard then (in readiness for Bachmann's class 13)? 🙂
I have a class 13 but its in the wrong livery. I have a steam tank engine that I plan to use. Good idea for hump shunting. I had not thought of that.
@@model.train.railway. Philip, you would have to undertake a lot of work to have a viable hump-shunting yard with many free-running wagons. I would keep it as a tongue in cheek suggestion! - Colin
You got me thinking and I am going to give it a go, thanks philip
Great progress! 👍
Thanks, the new marshalling yard is now started which is a little exciting, regards Philip
Great video Philip, everything is coming along nicely

hi
Looking good. Well done. 👍🏻
Thankyou
Well done Philip!
The signals are going live tomorrow on the new line.
@@model.train.railway. Excellent. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing it all working.
Mind blowing to see how much is going on, but also amazing best wishes Chris
Thankyou. Just seen your videos. I like how you have squashed your trains into such a small space, kind regards, philip
Philip, surely you have to start from close to (but not in) London, run over budget, curtail the northern end, have it cancelled, arrange a General Election with change of government and now start looking at a reduced scheme...... - Colin 😅😆😁
How true......
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!!
Thankyou, much appreciated, kind regards, Philip
love how busy your lay out is, got to be one of my fav,s
Thankyou, it is the way trains should be run, regards. Philip
Coming along nicely Philip, you must be chuffed to bits with everything running first time.
Only one track did not go first time. I was flicked the on off switch the wrong way.
Looks great! Trains are running nicely. And yes, I watched right to the end.
Just seen you train set. I love the different levels. Its the only way to squeeze so much in. kind regards, Philip
@@model.train.railway. Thank you!
Lovely work - HO scale is so gorgeous and your model/workman ship is so amazing - i really admire how much work you have put it into it, very enjoyable just to watch on the internet, must be a real joy to run in person. Some gorgeous rolling stock there as well !
Thankyou, it i satisifying to build more track and more trains, kind regards, Philip
Nice to see you are progressing well with the new build 😊👍🚂
Thankyou,
Hats off to you man, BRILLIANT, I envoy you, a beautiful lay out, Thank you for making the video.
Thankyou, much appreciated, kind regards, Philip
Great to see your progress - you’re right it is a lot of fun!!
Thankyou, kind regards , Philip
Good progress. Always good to see your layout in action.
Thankyou, kind regards ,Philip
Hi. Do you have a video on how to run 2 trains on one line and how they stop at the signal if catching one up. I have dc and would love to know how more than one train can run on one line. Many thanks.
You could try this, but it is very expensive. www.gaugemasterretail.com/gaugemaster-gmi-a02-infinity-analogue-duo-model-railway-control-package.html
Unfortunately the digital boxes by Gaugemaster are no longer made. It allows 2 trains to run on the same track with a DC controller. They were made in Sussex which is near me and I bought 2 from Austrailia, so they went around the world. kind regards, Philip
Excellent work Philip, Trains running smoothly is a great sign things are going well. Looking forward to the next installment. Stuart
Thankyou, your railway set inspired me to do this, kind regards, Philip
@model.train.railway. Wow Cheers Philip, That's a lovely compliment.
Neat, very neat. I hope the sheep are not being shipped off to the Abattoir. Was that a Deltic pulling the blood and custard passenger? Your cutting of the wood is impressive, hand or machine? 12 trains, one of my dream is to get above 7 running. Got a fair way to go, I might have to use two extra add-on boards.
Unfortunately I have had a few loco failures and the Deltic was called in an emergency to pull.thanks, kind regards, Philip
Nice to see another video.
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
I have just watched all of your videos and subscribed. I like your layout. What about for your next video some views of the whole set from a distance. PS. I love the APT set, one day I will get one.
You have done really well in the short period that you have been making the alterations. I find all such work enjoyable except for the electrics which for me is so tedious, but that said, essential to get right. I am so envious of your analogue train control system. Good luck with the rest of the work. Thank you.
Thankyou. Electrics are enjoyable until they don't work and you can't find out the problem. Some of my signals just don't work and to find the issue is so hard, kind regards, Philip
Hi
k
Philip, Oh! what a nice surprise! I'm looking forward to your future videos about this one.
Next video about to be released.
I'm debating getting a 3D printer, but can't decide between Creality or AnyCubic, PLA or Resin. Very much a Zzzzzzzzztttttttttttttttttzzz decision.
Very apt.
I kill to have a layout board this size, especially with my n gauge this would seem like the scale size of the continent !
The pupils love it as well.
I recently got a 3D printer given to me. I've done quite a bit with it. How long did the bogies and bodies take to print? Regards, Tom
Bogies were about 25 minutes. The containers were 5 hours, but it can run over night. Its not something to watch but set up and go and do other things.
@@model.train.railway. Thanks. I've had an issue a couple of times with the PLA getting crossed over on the reel and becoming jammed so not keen on leaving unattended. I do do other things but try to stay in the room!
Talking to the DT teacher at my school today, it seems that a more expensive one is the way to go. My brothers was only £170. The school one for £300 gives a much cleaner finish.
@@model.train.railway. Thanks. Mine was just under £300.
This is a fantastic railway there's a lot of time gone into it
My dad took 45 years but still never finished it
Excellent layout, And well designed and built. Thanks for sharing. ATB to you.Stuart
Thankyou, I am widening my top level after inspiration from you, kind regards, Philip
@model.train.railway. Sounds great. You have a wonderful layout already and have utilised the space so well. Looking forward Philip to the build. Thanks for your kind words. ATB Stuart
Thanks
Wow, an other amazing layout. Love the bridges and so much to see.
Thankyou. It is all DC control as well. Kind regards, philip
That’s incredible what a fascinating layout. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
how uncanny i,m just waiting for my printer to arrive today. how long have you been your railway for ?, every time i see your layout it amazes me. thanks for sharing.
You are welcome. That was my Dad's set which was started 45 years ago. My brother is besotted with printing railway things.
Thank you for sharing - do like the holes through the walls! 🙂 _Has the Dawlish sea wall been modelled around the edge of the bathtub?_ 😉 The material cost of the wagons may be low. However, what about thecapital outlay of a 3D printer to an appropriate printing standard? 🤔
It cost £170, but you can also print all sorts of other things including psrts for my brothers car. Its even difficult for me to crawl under the bridge as it is at the top of stairs. Kind regards, Philip
@@model.train.railway. Philip, not long ago these were costing thousands so not a bad price at all! 🙂 Have you ever thought about undertaking limbo dancing in preparation for your visits there? 😁
I just crawl and roll. The fact that the bridge is at the top of the stairs makes it far more difficult. Very ungainly
Wow you kept that layout as a big secret surprise! Another truly impressive model railway! Thanks for showing.
I will make a dedicated video of it again, kind regards, Philip
Haven’t seen you in a long Time hope is all going well climbing mountains and hiking.
I am all good. how are you? Back in Kent, it was nice to get get outside more, kind regards.
Nice video
yes
Real "tunnels", holes through the walls? & bridges, the stair well? that's dedication for you👏👏👍👍
Its even difficult for me to crawl under as it is at the top of stairs.
@@model.train.railway. I've never been one for the train set limbo either, especially these days!
You can see where I got my ideas from.
Very impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm guilty of fitting too much railway onto the board! So, in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to liberate some space for better scenery by removing some rocks I placed between tracks around my turntable. The TT failed (R410 from the late '70s) and needed some work so it made sense to upgrade the area. Look forward to seeing your progress. Regards, Tom
I do like how much is crammed onto your board. Its the only way to go. Tomorrow my brother is going to show me his latest engine that is controlled by his phone, regards ,Philip
@@model.train.railway. I much prefer physical controls for trains. I use radio control but the controller is "real". I'm currently working on a way to have two trains on one track (no idea where that idea came from..) but with the limited size of the layout, it's proving a challenge. More later. Tom.
Progress Philip, upwards and onwards, take care, bob.
Absolutely, its hard to have too many trains, regards, Philip
Philip, good luck with the upgrades! Must be a little hard to tear up something you have worked to create. But..we look forward to following your adventure and opening of the new line. Greetings from Portland, Oregon, USA.
Its not being broken up, but rearranged and made bigger with even more trains, regards, Philip
Anyone who loves model trains will understand immediately why you’re indoors on such a lovely day! 😊
Can it be classified as an illness ans addiction?. Regards Philip
Good luck with the rebuild! Can’t wait to see it in action 👍😊
Thankyou, I guess it will be another month before the I have some of the work completed
Good luck with the redesign.
Thankyou
It is really hard dismantling scenery and established infrastructure , but worth it for additional operational use. Following your lead, I have just completed a double high level track for running more long trains. I now can run six trains on DC separate tracks. Good luck with your new project. Please keep use updated and thank you for inspiring me to improve my garage layout.
I like to hear that you have added more tracks with long trains, its the best way to go, kind regards, Philip
