- A grand tour of a large loft model train railway set. A short video showing all of my layout 1,400 feet long, 13 tracks that can run 25 trains at the same time with 97 trucks and 187 coaches all going simultaneously. 86 points with point motors and 22 hand operated points and 4 digital boxes on the top level are needed to run such an operation.
105 buildings and hundreds of trees and animals. There is 3 km of wiring with automated signalling. Thanks for watching, kind regards, Philip - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
The only word for this is "Amazing"! Thanks for sharing every corner of your loft.
Thankyou. I am glad you liked it as i struggled a bit putting the video together.
I was going to say your layout is very impressive, but as the video progressed I realised it was much better than 'impressive' !
You are so kind, its made my evening, kind regards, Philip
Again a very impressive video showing all of your hard work . So much to look at and that's without the trains buzzing by. Love it. 😊
Thankyou, its nice to have so many trains running without my input and just watch them going, kind regards, Philip
your layout is amazing, thanks for the video
Thankyou. I am glad you liked it as i struggled a bit putting the video together.
Stunningly brilliant "at least in my opinion".
Too kind, thanks, kind regards, Philip
Good luck with clocking up 4000 hours - you deserve it. The goods yard could add even more fun - probably at slightly slower speeds though :) Thanks for sharing it with us. Mike
Thankyou. I will struggle to keep shunters to less than 20mph. regards, Philip
What an excellent lay out
love you, P
Hi ya. Philip.
What a brilliant layout. The scenics are superb.
Great size nice long platforms.
Love the different levels.
Installing hornby magnetic couplings myself, love them.
Thank you for sharing.

Thankyou. The different levels has let me squeeze more in. Your wooden controller box looks so much nicer than mine, kind regards Philip
I think you have a cracking layout. 👍🏻
Thankyou, it keeps me busy and fun to build, kind regards, Philip
Brilliant brings back so many great memories of my friends loft layout roundy D roundy with a Great Big Station
Its the way trains should be played with. Kind regards, Philip
Fantastic ❤
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
Great video Philip, hope you get the viewing hours soon.
Thankyou, I am so close to 4,000 hours, but still might fail to get it to be in the one year.
The area in the loft is all used up to maximise not just model railways but also ever needed storage. Well done.
In my dreams I have a much larger loft, but I try to squeeze as much in as possible. Kind regards, Philip
Most inspirational and not for the faint hearted.Thankyou very much.
I do have plans for more when I retire later on in the year.
love it , thanks for sharing
Thankyou, best regards, Philip
GREAT !!!
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
It's a lot of railway, particularly in that amount of space. Looks a bit like inverted limbo dancing! Good luck getting the viewing hours. You've got more hours than I've got views!
I would have built it differently if I had to start all over again, organic growth, not planned. Kind regards, Philip
@@model.train.railway. I find that applies to a lot more than model railways!
Philip, why does you layout appear to increase in size with every video?
So nice to see a grand tour - - thank you - Colin.
Thankyou. You wait until I retire and start building maybe another track and a goods yard. Its fun to dream of new track and building it. Kind regards, Philip
@@model.train.railway. Will you be extending the attic as well? 😅
We almost did that a few years ago when the children were small, but only went up one floor. It would have been nice.....
You certainly make the most of the available space!
Are the different levels completely separate? Or is it possible for trains to move between levels?
I do try my best to squeeze it in. All of the tracks can be made into one long loop. I have to take half the trains off and then the switch board will change the points. A good idea for another video. Kind regards, Philip
Cracking layout my friend. Is it DC or DCC ?
DC, but the top level has digital boxes that stop 2 trains catching up with each other, kind regards, Philip
Great layout. Just one question (apologies if I missed the answer in the video) - how come your trains run on the right instead of the left?
Thankyou. I did not say in the video and is a good point. I have 11 circular tracks in which the trains just go round in circles which is fun, but I can switch the points so all 11 tracks connect together to make one long loop about 900 ft long which means that the tracks in the middle level are on the wrong way round to make it work. In reality I have a cork screw going up to the top and the other side going down. A good idea for a future video, best regards, Philip
how do you get so many wagons? is there a way to get them for really cheap or do you just have them from years of collecting?
Good question. 80% of them have been given to me by my dad. They look good because he painted them. There is probably £1,500 worth. 80% of what I have is either given or second hand. Its the only way I could get do much stock.
Electric and water don't mix well, you need a powder
Hopefully I would turn the power off first, but that is a good point that I did not think of.
How many trains do you have?
I was 21 trains at the same time, but about 31 altogether.
Check your watch hours
Sorry the last message was gobblegook. 21 trains at the same time and 31 total. I am nearly upto the magic 4,000hours
🚅👍
thanks
Its wonderful!
Thankyou, I appreciate your comment. Kind regards, Philip
