Thank you Philip! 👍 Travelling south a few years back the tilt failed just north of Tebay.😒 While we were awaiting authority to proceed without tilt, I naively asked the Polmadie driver _'Does the tilt fail very often?'_ "Well, when an 87 failed it was something to talk about back in the depot". "When a Pendolino doesn't fail it is something to talk about back in the depot" 🤔
@MrMiller-vc5rv When the tilt fails, after informing the signalman it takes about ten minutes to obtain authority to proceed without. At busy times NRIL will not want the train blocking the line so will be keen to get it moved out of the way quickly.
@@model.train.railway. Despite using TGVs with regularity my partner tried one once from Manchester to London - she was quite unwell when she arrived.... 🥴
I was nearing the end of going to London regularly when Virgin lost the franchise; the replacement was nothing like as good in terms of value and service. Rolling stock still good of course.
All of my lines are built so that they can be turned into one continuous line, but to do this requires a compromise so what is wrong line running for one track is correct for the the others it just so happens my track 6 and 7 are reversed. I had very steep gradients to go up between lines as well.
Nice video it's a very good look you have with all those. I'm Interested to know how much did all those pendolinos cost you?, I'm interested in doing an 11 car but how can I do the car that looks like it has the pantograph part at the top but doesn't have the pantograph if you know what I mean??.
Love the video. I have a loft layout - much smaller than yours. My Pendolino drive bogie quite often drops off the track. The bogie itself has always seemed quite loose and I have tried different ways to fix it. I use Hornby 400 controllers. Any thought please? Thanks.
But also I get thin cardboard strips and put it under the outside edge of the curve to just change the tilt of the corner to give a slight banking. Most of my corners have this. regards, Philip
That is true, but all 11 of my circular tracks can be made into one long loop by changing the points, but for that to work some of the tracks have to have the trains going the wrong way round. Its a compromise I have to make. Kind regards. Philip
Hi Phillip, the camera point of view is great to see how quick the trains are really going. Great video!
Thankyou, they are fun trains to have.
Never ceases to amaze me how much you achieve with just DC control. And a lovely fleet of Pendolinos!
DC does have its advantages and I over voltage them for extra speed. Thankyou, my favourite trains
A Hornby APT would look superb zooming around your layout. Cheers 😊
Many thanks!
An apt is going to be my next buy
Hello Phillip, just discovered your channel, what a stunning layout! Great video and nice bit of history. Subscribed 👌😎
Thankyou very much
Much appreciated
Nice Session Phillip.
DC is still a lot of fun and definitely the way to go for someone new to the hobby in my mind.
Happy Modelling
Mon
It is nice and easy and much cheaper and can run many trains at the same time.
Love the sound of those pendolinos at speed.
My favourite sound
absolutely lovely video
Thank you very much!
Thank you Philip! 👍

Sadly true. They should have got Hornby to make them all

A few people have told me their nightmare Pendolino journeys

My brother who is really into trains feels seasick on Pendolinos.
3:33 "I was too busy filming to watch the trains." - Quote of the day. 😊 👍
Don't get me wrong, I do understand what you mean. Still it's hilarious.
I sometimes lose control of things, but the good thing is the Pendolinos can catch up with each other without crashing.
Very impressive. I travelled many, many journeys on the 1:1 versions between Glasgow and London.
Thankyou. I have never been on one yet

Interesting to know
Really Great videos
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
Some great shots in here! Great job!
Thankyou, kind regards, Philip
Great Video!
Too add realism, announce a signalling issue and a replacement bus service 😂
On some of the other levels there are two signals are not working properly and 3 people have pointed it out. I just run through red.
Cool....they are fast!
I do run much faster sometimes, but it is nice to just nice to leave them running on their own as a realistic speed.
I’m interested to hear your reasons for wrong line running.
All of my lines are built so that they can be turned into one continuous line, but to do this requires a compromise so what is wrong line running for one track is correct for the the others it just so happens my track 6 and 7 are reversed. I had very steep gradients to go up between lines as well.
I like the specially adapted Go Pro camera - want to do something like that myself eventually
There are better newer designs, but it is nice to watch your own trains from a different angle.

All were second hand and most of the coaches were about £18. The see second hand price is much higher now
Some of my pantographs have dropped off. Another job that needs going

How steep are your corners, I found that if 3rd radius is not perfectly flat, you get problems.
But also I get thin cardboard strips and put it under the outside edge of the curve to just change the tilt of the corner to give a slight banking. Most of my corners have this. regards, Philip
O0ps...!!. The Pendolinos look good speeding around your layout.
I love the sound most of all
Great video I like the speed. How do you keep all your track clean? I would like a video on that if you have special techniques!
David
I use a CMX cleaner wagon. There is a whole video I did recently if you want to see it. kind regards. Philip
Your layout is fantastic, but your trains are travelling on the wrong side of the tracks Phiip.
That is true, but all 11 of my circular tracks can be made into one long loop by changing the points, but for that to work some of the tracks have to have the trains going the wrong way round. Its a compromise I have to make. Kind regards. Philip
Blimey they can shift.
Thats why I like them so much
