Good timing Matt. I'm on the outskirts of Milwaukee now waiting to unload. Nice mail call. Looking forward to El Dorado Days .Thank you Matt.
You''re welcome Bryce!
Hello Matt, yes that is a great idea with the casters, enjoyed the video and great stuff in the Box that was sent to ya, take care Matt
@@greenmule Many thanks!
Webb is like Santa Clause. Harbor Freight used to sell those canvas mechanics bags back in the day. I have a few.
I carried a bag like that for eight years before I moved up the food chain. I kept it at home for years after that. In fact, it may still be buried in a tote around here some where.
Awesome video as always brotha! Nice caster placement!
@@EYE_SPIDER Thanks Bryce!
Great idea on the caster placement. That will do the trick
@@RustyGlovebox Thanks Lloyd. I have a giant roller skate in the shop now 😂👍
Matt - Your idea is great, but I recommend you do not use a 45 degree connection, but rather make it a straight vertical connection. This transfers the load from the drill press to the caster without wanting to rotate the offset piece. You can add a 45 degree gusset piece to really reinforce the caster connection. If your drill press is anywhere near the weight of my Canedy-Otto, you are looking at over 2,000lbs.
@@ronkluwe4875 Mine is about 1000 pounds. It’s one of the mid size Champions. Thanks for the tip!
The offset wings were something I thought of the minute I saw those casters. I think your idea is a good one and you will enjoy that press being portable. I have another project for you to restore. LOL Video coming up soon!
@@nelsoncreekfarm Well, there’s about a 5 year backlog in my project queue right now 😂
This was a great video, just like the one before it that was not too long but and really good! This has been my favorite video series. The wheel wings are a great idea. That will add a lot of stability for sure. Thank you Matt.
@@EdgeofEternityBillCameron Thanks Bill! Wait until you see the giant roller skate I have in the shop 😂👍
Doing a great job on that subframe. Hurry up and build another greenhouse, just kidding . This has been a fun series to watch. lol Those wing offsets should get a gusset somehow too for extra strength I think anyway. I need to meet your friend. I need some sawsaw blades lol. That was not nice of Nancy to take your tool bag. It should have been sent to me lol Great video Matt. 😊
@@MillCreekFabShop I’m using left over scrap from the screen house to build this thing 😂 I gave Nancy the bag for her art tools as I have bags and tool boxes everywhere. Plus she’s much better looking than you are 😁
@@mattthescrapwhisperer You got me there on the better looking part. lol
Anything you can do to keep the center of gravity as low as possible is the only way to go on those old mammoth drill presses. I almost met my maker when I was making the frame for mine.
@@terrycannon570 I keep it hooked up to my cherry picker for that very reason. This thing should be pretty stable when I’m done. Thanks Terry!
Matt I can sure relate to when Milwaukee was the gold standard of tools. The sheetmetal shop that I worked for issued them for all our trucks. I still have a 7" Milwaukee angle grinder. It is so heavy in my old age it stays in the tool box and I graduated to the Makita 4" angle grinder. I also have 2 Makita corded 3/8" drills and a love my Makita tools. Don't worry about boring us You Tube has fast forward. LOL just kidding. Hope all is well in AZ we finally got some much needed rain Sunday. A spider actually layed its eggs inside my rain gage so that tells you what a hot dry summer we have had.
@@terrycannon570 The shop I worked at decades ago outfitted all the trucks with Milwaukee drills, grinders, and sawzalls. Those were the days. I refer to my rain gage as the dust gage 😂👍
Good afternoon Matt
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 Hi Gary! Still morning here. Sunny and 93 today
Brilliant video Matt, no boring camel-back drill what I am aware off, that idea of the 45 deg brackets are awesome, thanks for sharing and O ya, that mail call was fantastic
@@jankotze1959 Thanks Jan. I’m still blown away by all the goodies in that mail call
the offset wings are a necessity because I think the base as it is,, is too narrow and a possibility of a tip over is not unlikely so the wings will be useful and both ways. .
@@MissouriOldTimer I’m thinking a tip over is what caused the damage I discovered a few videos back. The next video will show the giant roller skate I’m building 😂
Incredible video MATT. Videos aren't boring. You have to show the process whether it takes 10 minutes or an hour. I will still be here to watch. Getting close. Thanks for sharing. Awesome mail call. Keep the content coming. Enjoy your day. Much love and RESPECT
@@timwindsor03 Many thanks Tim. Hope you have an incredible week
Nicely done Matt. 👍
@@VinoRatRodbuilds Thanks Vino!
That's about what I'd do for the casters.. make it more stable and keep it low!! Heavy angle iron would work..
Wait until the next video. I'm scooting around the shop on a giant roller skate 😂
Getting there! Love our old Milwaukee 1/2" Hole shooters!! Awesome mail call!! That steel bench is like ours, it was all scabbed together from scrap, long before my time!!
I couldn't pass it up for 40 bucks. Eventually I'll take the diamond plate off and put a 1/2" steel top on it.
Good morning Matt ☕☕☕
Mornin Ed! 🍩🍩☕☕👍
Good Morning Matt! 👍
Hi Kev!
Neat ideas… though not perfect $40 is a great price for a metal table… hope you had some help moving that puppy! I like your designs they seem to make a lot of sense ! Go for it👍😎👍
@@Kevscancave I'm a one man show in this shop. I don't show a lot of stuff cause it gets sketchy around here at times 😂

@@GettinGreasyGarage Darn the luck. I used to buy Bosch but they are made overseas these days also
I wonder if that could be a mistake or old stock. LOL I've never seen anything from Harbor Freight that said made in USA.
Me either until now!
Same one we've been using for a while..
That’s a shocker! Made in the USA!
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 I know, right?

Great video Brotha and Congratulations Brotha Bill!
@@EYE_SPIDER thanks Bryce!
Congratulations Bill.
Congrats Bill. Knowing that Matt picked out a set of used Vice grips you most likely got good old Made in the USA. I made my living as a professional welder 50 years ago and fed my wife and little boys using used clamps like this. I still have all 4 pair of those clamps, so they are over 50 years olde and still as good as the day I picked them up in a used tool store. Also thanks Matt for bringing us into your shop. My neighbor brought me his 950 John Deer with the Yanmar diesel engine in it today and it is DOA and he has already been working on it. I already have less hair than I did yesterday. LOL
@@terrycannon570 good luck with that John Deere Terry, and thanks for the story!
