    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Gday! It depends on if you’re in a place to achieve status (ie lots of work travel or not.) Qantas can be easier to find reward seats on (on Qantas flights) if you have status, as well as opening the door to upgrades on Qantas flights, but partner flights are still available to any members. In saying that, Virgins new agreement with Qatar is shaping up to have a lot of the same ideas. There is no reason not to try and accrue both in Australia. I always flip-flop my credit cards between Virgin and Qantas, with plenty of extra opportunities (insurances, hotels etc) where you can earn both and give you wider options to choose those services from.

    Skytrax best airline is always dubious - Qatar are good but not best. They also said Doha is world’s best airport, like seriously, you have to get bussed out to your plane - hardly worlds best practice.

    On a shorter flight maybe okay but longer flights when you’re trying to sleep it’s shit with that footwell off to the side like a contortionist. The A380 and A350 are the same. Only exclusion are some bulkhead seats if you’re lucky ! I’ll be flying another airline in future thanks.

    The Minister has welcomed the offer. The previous Qantas-induced blocking of Qatar produced an outcry that the Government wouldn't want repeated. Virgin Australia has been foreign owned for a long time so a 25% Qatar stake wouldn't be anything new. And Virgin Australia ticketed flights to Doha using "wet leased" Qatar aircraft would open up a huge network of destinations in competition with Qantas, possibly forcing Qantas to improve its present degraded service and lower its prices so it doesn't lose business.

    🤞it gets approved as it can only be an improvement for the flying Australian public. What's concerning ,is brains capital purchased VA years ago for 3.5 billion and it has been speculated that Qatar airlines paided 700 million for a 25% stake in the airline. Doesn't say much for VA growth .😂

    • @JO-pz6uf
      @JO-pz6uf 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I suppose they look a bit long term, if this is a success it will result in more profit for VA which will increase the remaining percentage sales for them when they are put out there. Say what you want about Bain Capital, but they know how to make money.

    If I ever travel in something resembling Business Class it will probably be the Premium Flatbed option on Air AsiaX. This video helps to confirm that view. Edit: I wouldn't have called that Jetstar service though. On one international Jetstar flight to Indonesia I found the cabin crew quick and cheerful and our vegetarian food order was brought promptly. We don't drink alcohol but our tea and coffee were also on time. Juices had to be purchased of course, being Jetstar. Overall not disappointed at all.

    Hi Pointy End Secrets! I took QF20 a few years ago and it was not a great flight at all. It was similar to your experience. The crew were rude and didńt care when they were serving dinner. I also rode Business Class. I refuse to fly Qantas Business until a significant change happens.

    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets หลายเดือนก่อน

      It certainly does, its my biggest peice of advice to anyone flying, know the airlines youre flying on and its partners & alliances. A Business Ticket on most airlines will entitle you to Lounge access at their own lounges, but also those of their partners (and vice-versa.) Flying SQ Business out of Melbourne? Use the Air NZ Lounge, not the SQ. Flying Qantas Business out of Manila? Use the Cathay Lounge, not the Marhaba.

    You were just incredibly unlucky on this trip. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences on SIA in biz class. I have to say, I don't think I have ever seen or heard of goodie bags being given out to apologise for a late flight. That right there shows you what kind of airline this is. Have another trip in biz with them this Dec and cant wait!

    Thanks for sharing. Getting out of Perth on points in BC is near on impossible. Made worse it seems by classic plus seats introduction. A year out you cpuld usually gets seats. Ie. Perth Singapore was i think 50k points. Good luck getting those now. We are looking for July next year. 112k points. 99k coming back.Cant justify that. You paid 100k Melbourne to LAX in this video. Tried for feb of this year. Nope. Long haul. Zero. In 6 trips to Europe doesnt matter where i fly into i can never bag a seat. We now fly economy and buy our seat and try for upgrade to Singapore. Nope. Never had any luck. Then buy BC seats from Singapore to Europe. Much cheaper option than iut of Aus. Usually around 4k. Flying east good luck also. With Qantas only really flying 737 there just arent the seats. Ive given up chasing seats and just keep banking the points and pay for the privilege of flying up the front. When it comes time to retire in a few years we maybe able to get point flights last minute. I honestly feel its all just become a big con if im honest. But it costs me nothing as i earn points as part oc my everyday so no biggie. Sorry to be negative but just my experience trying to get out of Perth on points.

    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can definitely be hard and Im sorry that you dont find it useful anymore! I have to agree that its getting harder and harder. Do you only collect Qantas Points or also Velocity? Id say a neat trick for you might be to use Velocity points to fly BC from Perth to Singapore and then use Qantas Points to get a partner flight from Singapore to Europe or the US. Honestly, Velocity has far better seat availability, and its only getting better.

    In my view mate, no need to put the disclaimer at the start. I’m looking for reviews of business class services, I want all the things you like and don’t like. From that I’ll make my own view as to whether I want to fly them or not. From my personal experience I’ve found SQ business flights to be very good but not the great I was expecting it to be and I found the lounge at Changi to be so busy and loud that after I got my fill of food or drink I look for a quieter place in the airport. All be it with a bag full of snacks and some cheeky travellers that I can drink on the sly.
