Hi, I'm Sam and I'm an Oxford University student.
On this channel I discuss an aspect of student life I’ve been thinking about recently - especially topics I think are underdiscussed. My most popular videos have been about loneliness, homesickness, and getting rejected. Hopefully the videos encourage people to be more open and honest about student stuff/life - and if you relate any of the topics, maybe you'll feel 1% better/more comforted/less alone having watched a vid.

Lots of love,

GCSE Results Day: My Reaction
An Oxford University student's reaction/take on GCSE Results Day. Hopefully, to hear the perspective of a university student (someone who has been through GCSEs, A Levels etc and has the whole perspective) might change your feelings towards Results Day (for the better!).

A Level Results Day Rejection
มุมมอง 10K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the story of my terrible A Level Results Day experience, but also the story of how it worked out in the end (- and it will for you too). I hope you got great A Level grades today, but if not, I hope seeing someone who went through the same (and can tell you it DOES get better) makes it 0.1% easier. Thanks to Yipiyap (the gap year company I worked for myself) for sponsoring this video: A...

A Day in my Life as Ali Abdaal's Intern
มุมมอง 2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
After a short while of working with Ali Abdaal and the team, I decided it was time to vlog a day of what we get up to. Thanks to everyone who contributes to giving me a small platform which I can leverage for opportunities like this. I'm learning so much each day and there is LITERALLY nothing in the world I would rather be doing this summer than hanging out and learning from my favourite TH-ca...

If you get rejected from oxford, can you apply again a year later
I look at the Oxford and I think that universities tear young people away from reality, and that it is impossible to return to reality after university illusions. As a result, few people in the world are capable of solving the problems that have accumulated before humanity. The best teacher is life itself. Philosophers, historians, lawyers and journalists must work in seven different businesses, communicate with a wide range of people and learn a living and practical psychology. Academic psychology is only suitable for intellectual narcissists to entertain their peers over cups of coffee. A practicing intellectual person does not need forty subjects studied in universities, but much less. So you need to come to the university once a year for a week or two not only to take a small number of exams (one exam per year), but above all to communicate with intelligent people who help to systematize the experience gained during discussions. . It is necessary to implement the principle of Socrates: it is not necessary to put ready-made theories in a person's brain, but to let theories be born in his brain. So we do not need conferences, but debates on questions from real life. And to have food for discussion, you have to immerse yourself in real life, and not be in an artificial university environm.
As far as the fire of Rome 64 CE is concerned: first of all fires were pretty common in Rome and could break out fairly easy and without any big reason. This is attested by contemporary authors such as Juvenal (c.f. Iuv. III). As far as the claim Nero set Rome on fire is concerned, this is based on Suetonius (Suet. Nero 38). However, from other sources, such as Tacitus (Tac. Ann. XV 39) we know that "Nero at this time was at Antium, and did not return to Rome until the fire approached his house, which he had built to connect the palace with the gardens of Mæcenas. It could not, however, be stopped from devouring the palace, the house, and everything around it. "

I respect your take on history 😂. I major in history because of my passion for research and well…knowledge of history. It also opens up so many fields after college ends. I don’t know how it is in Oxford but I am absolutely loving my history course. We do a lot of research papers which I will stay up doing…pretty much for fun…it seems a lot worse now that I’m writing it out..😅. I might have a chance of getting into Oxford in 2025. Not going to give my hopes up but I have lots of resources and recommendations and other things as well.
