    I was dating in Mexico for 3ish years. It was a constant struggle between cultural differences, confusion about expectations / relationship dynamics, and the “dark sides” of it all (like prevalence of cheating and how acceptable it seems to be). Relationships are hard in general but it’s a wildly different ballgame in a different country.

    I watched a man get beaten to near death... he literally couldn't walk and had to crawl away with his arms and drag his legs to safety. Blood all over the street, and no one did anything about it. And this was in front of a popular tourist coffee shop in broad daylight still morning. I thought these things happened only in the nights. I was also minutes away from several shootings one being on the main andrador. I was there 2021-2022. A tourist woman was also gang SA'd while hiking there by a group of indigenous men. It irritates me when people promote a place as safe when they know nothing of the history of a place. It's been front page news the Zapatistas stating they're on a verge of a civil war. You are safe, until it's not. And also was a lot of protests where the roads were blocked off. That's their right to protest but if you have a flight out and are trying to leave you can't get to the airport. The place is beautiful but it's nature is unpredictable. For the record I used to live in NYC pre 9/11 to gauge my level of experience. Would I go, yes but I would never call it safe. Let's not romanticize it for clicks and views.

    Love this! And yeah... when I'm sick or if Alex is feeling sick (doesn't happen often thank goodness), whether he's got a fever, or he's throwing up, I always say, "Oh, that's good! Your body is getting rid of what's hurting it!" I love when our bodies, our emotions, sometimes override our awareness to heal itself. Every emotion and physical symptom has value... and we need to sometimes sit in them and let things play out a bit in order to better understand our own needs!

      I could not live without a kettle ☺️. I use the standard sugar here but it’s not as white as in the US and has a bit of a caramel flavor, so I’m guessing is not as processed (not sure). And got kitty, she’s living her best life in the US, so we opted not to bring her since we would only be here for 3 months. I’ll try to give more details on my next vlog. It’s a cute story.

    This video was recommended to me at the perfect time! I've been considering romanticizing my days as someone with chronic illness, embracing the slow mornings, that many people wish they had time for. Of course I don't think it'll be easy, I'm forced to not have a job and give up on my dreams because my body can't handle it, but people often say to us that they wish they could take their time in the morning, or stay home watching their favourite shows instead of working, so instead of focusing on my pain levels, or how much I wish I could be working towards my once dreamed of doctorate, I want to be thankful that I can take my time to do my daily tasks, or on bad days when I can't even get out of bed, enjoy the shows I'm watching. I'm hoping it'll make me feel better mentally and that I'll complain less to my husband who puts up with a lot of that from me. So thank you for sharing this, it made me feel less like I'm weird for wanting to romanticize my life ❤

    • @MomonaJourney
      @MomonaJourney 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I have to say that there’s a balance when it come to “complaining “ , I feel that the self expression is necessary yet sometimes I feel so over saying I’m sick or having people ask me repeatedly how I’m feeling when the answer is always “bad”, lol. So I’ve made rules at times that my illness should not be mentioned 😂 that also didn’t work because it felt like people around me almost forgot (invisible illnesses, you know?). So now I try to keep a balance, I voice how I feel just for a more intentional purpose. ❤️ I wish you well on your journey. Means a lot you enjoyed my video, thanks for watching. 🙏🏽✨

    Hola hermosa... that's one of the beauties I will say in living in Mexico is having the ability to slow down and not do the rat race as in the US. I am finally on the healing side of my eczema. Not only did I have to change the foods that I ate and stop all alcohol, caffeine, and sugar but it pushed me to prioritize myself above anything else. It's crazy that we tend to put ourselves last 🥺. I also canceled last-minute plans with friends if I felt sick or when my eczema flared up so bad I could barely do anything bc I was scratching or doing something to soothe myself but friends understood. sending l-💝❤‍🩹💜🙏

    Yes, I too suffer from chronic illness that is mostly 80% under control now due to lifestyle and diet changes and living in Mexico has been pivotal in my healing. I encourage you to just keep experimenting with different things to tweak your health. That's what I had to do. Finally I settled on an elimination diet to determine foods I was strongly reacting to and slowly working myself into an intermittent fasting eating schedule. The IF really keeps the inflammation at bay for me but I know everyone is different. I'm 65 btw, and was also a single parent of one (he just turned 45 and he travels with me). I started having chronic health issues as a child but 2 times during my adulthood (late 30s and late 50s) they flared up horribly again and I was barely functional for several years until I got it all back under control. I operate at about 60-80% of the energy levels I used to and frequently require an afternoon nap/rest but am grateful every day for the slower pace in central Mexico (Oaxaca right now).

      Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏽 Does IF mean IV fluids? The 60-80% is hard to adapt to, must be great having your son with you.

    You are so right, with all the stress of daily living and meeting everyone’s needs we often forget to listen to our bodies warning signs

    A huge benefit of slow living is having the time to notice ourselves (and others around us).
