    Nice places to visit in Tuxtla, is it becoming a more beautiful city. Thanks for sharing!!!

      I don’t know what it was like before but it’s nice, not touristy but has nice places to visit.

      @@MomonaJourney I lived there for a year, more than 20 years ago. It was not bad, but definitely not as beautiful as it is today. In fact I am considering the possibility of living there again.

      And I agree, there are cute places to visit in the surrounding area.

    Thank you for sharing what happened with you on the bus! Do you have temporary residency? If you do, you can bring that with you.

      No, we are on a travel visa, we spend maybe 6 months out of the year in Mexico because of all the traveling we do 🙈😂☺️ but we have traveled all over Mexico and it’s first time I get asked, I think I got comfortable with that, but lesson learned ☺️I will be ready next time!

    You had a really nice view from your hotel and Tuxtla looks very pretty. Your hair looks so nice!

    A bit of drama, some glamour, a good travel partner, and a museum to return another day for. Thank you for the trip!

    Karen, we stayed in the same hotel in May. I think we stayed in the same suite you showed us in this video. It was on the top floor near the emergency exit. We remember that because we also experienced an earthquake while in that hotel. 😂we also spent our days at the mall. The coffee place across from Starbucks was so good. We will be back later this year. Thanks for the video.

    Karen, you are beautiful inside and out! Your hair looks so pretty and soft. You look happy. It produces a true glow on your cheeks and twinkle in your eye.
    PS: Good to know about the INS checkpoints.😮So you guys have Mex residency? In the town I live I just carry my residency card in my wallet and a copy of my passport but yes if I leave town just to be safe, I go ahead and take my passport with me. I’m always so scared of losing it though.

      Thank you for the sweet message ❤️
      I’m not a resident, we spend maybe 6 months out of the year here because of all the traveling we do. So we are on travel visa. I think your resident card would have been enough. I only had my passport card (which doesn’t have the visa). As a traveler, I have commitment issues with places, we just loved San Cristobal so much. We made it our home base in a way to not let go. The girls have so many plans for next year and I suggested we let go of our place in San Cristobal and they simultaneously got teary eyed 🙈… maybe we’ll become residents one day 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Great video. I think we stayed nearby that hotel at the Marriott when we went through last month. I think we'll stay at the Fiesta Inn in the future. 😀

      Is the Marriott the one with the rock pool? What did you think of the rooms?

    • @montemayaproject
      @montemayaproject ปีที่แล้ว

      Si. It's a pretty cool rock pool but small and was always crowded. Cool bar and restaurant but the rooms were a bit....dated. @@MomonaJourney

    It's interesting because it does seem counterintuitive sometimes when I travel, because I don't want to bring my passport with me on day to day errands and excursions in case something bad happens and I lose my wallet and my passport at the same time, but this reminds me to carry it.

    • @MomonaJourney
      @MomonaJourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! I feel the same way! I don’t want to loose my passport, so I take my card. But I guess I’ll have to adjust 🙈😂☺️

    nice hotel and great view you got from that room! and your hair turned out amazing! speaking of earthquakes... I am sure you felt the one a couple nights ago around 330 am. luckily we were far enough from the epicenter that it was very light and brief here. that was my second earthquake since being in Mexico. right now I am actually dreading going back to Chiapa de Corzo and Tuxtla. I cant stand extreme heat and humidity. still no rain in San Cristobal. I just read this morning that the Panama Canal is closed because of drought and the water levels are not high enough! I guess this is an El Nino year and thats why Mexico's rainy season started a month late too...
    Guadalajara's main cathedral has one of those projection shows on its facade and I have watched it probably half a dozen times now. I think it changes with the seasons but the main one tells the history or the city with narration as well as the images. one time I had a guest in town and wanted to show it to them, but it didnt play that night. so frustrating.
    and about travelling without your passport... I was living dangerously the first year I was here. I wouldnt even carry any ID at all. so if I had an accident or something they wouldnt even know who I was. I would walk around like that daily or even if I went on a weekend trip to another town. now at least I have my ID with me, but I never carry my passport unless I am going out of Guadalajara. I started carrying my passport in my laptop bag so that I dont forget it.

    • @MomonaJourney
      @MomonaJourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the lack of rain has made this city extra hot this year. All my friends are complaining about the heat. I hope we get some before it starts becoming a problem. 🤞🏻
      As for the earthquake, I felt nothing. 3rd earthquake I don’t even notice, the metal door downstairs shakes and dogs bark, so that will wake me, but this how is super strong.

    He was not interested in seeing your Passport, he wanted to see your RT or RP. You should ALWAYS have that with you. The Passport Card is acceptable in Mexico, but many agents do not know all the rules, so they make them up. You don't ever want to come across a Guardia Nacional or Immigration agent that wants to make an example of you for not following Mexico's rules. Please be SURE next time.

      It's worth mentioning that the entire Visa system changed abruptly in the last year and not everyone is on the same page about it as someone who comes in and out of Mexico frequently so it's a simple mistake on both parties.
