- In this video we debunk a popular Mopar myth - 1964-66 Plymouth Barracuda rear windows are NOT worth thousands of dollars! Had a couple 65 Barracuda's listed on Facebook Marketplace for a month or two and couldn't believe how many messages we got saying to SAVE THE REAR WINDOW! IT'S WORTH A FORTUNE! NO, NO IT ISN'T. OK calm down a little - was curious where this all started and we found out. Was on a totally fake reality TV car show called Desert Car Kings. The show only lasted a year and it is easy to see why. They find a 64 Barracuda and the entire episode all they talk about is how valuable the rear window is and the shop owner "will kill them if they break it." Of course the first thing they do is purposely break it. So please do us a favor, if you see a Barracuda listed online do NOT message the person saying the rear window is worth a fortune, it's NOT. OK - Tom rant off.
My last TV broke in 2010, I never replaced it and I feel my IQ has risen since then.
I scrapped a '66 Barracuda eons ago and gave the rear window to an auto wrecker. 30 years later, I purchased a '64 Barracuda missing that window. Bought my old glass back for $40. Not bad storage fee for all that time.
NEWS FLASH!!! Realty shows are all staged. I work in television and have done a bunch of them. Real life is boring for the cameras so they spice it up with "rehearsed drama". What bothers me is how these restoration shows have driven up the price of classic cars. Moreover, they've ruined the hobby, turned it into a religion of greed, speculations and flippers.
Never knew those rear
Car TV shows and car auctions on TV have ruined classic car collection. Everyone thinks their older car is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. You just can’t find a nice classic car to buy and enjoy anymore at a reasonable price.
And this is why I watch channels like yours and Jamie's. Real mechanics working on real cars and no " we're gonna lose the shop" fakery.
Desert Car Kings is so indescribably annoying that it would make even a Quaker seriously consider going on a murder spree.
Reality tv isn't real reality, most, if not all are total bs. That's why I'd rather watch your channel, Jamie's ddg, uncle Tony's garage, ect, it's actually real
Good rant! I was drawn to that episode because it was about an early Barracuda and was totaly shocked when they broke the window (not) the two most common comments I get when I,m out with my 66 are about the value of the back window and if it has the optional hemi. When I took my car apart to restore I was amazed at the weight of that window.
Thanks for this very helpful "public service" video. What I don't like about "reality"
I saw that episode! TOTALLY STAGED!
Ok ok ok, maybe you’re right. However, I’ve heard that the runner moulding around that glass - priceless! 🙃
Early Barracudas always remind me of Hemi under glass. Those were the days, my friend as Mary Hopkins so eloquently expressed it.
100% dead on 👍🏻 All those reality ‘Discovery’ style shows STUUUNK!
Never had a 64-66 Barracuda, But I had a 66 Valiant Signet sport coupe (no B pillar, alas a true hardtop). and I loved it. I also had a 64.5 Mustang with 260 V8, 4 speed, PS, PB and A/C. I wish I still had that little gem.
I F ing hate reality shows , I despise everything about them. That's why I don't watch any cable TV. Just my favorite TH-cam channels, of which you are one. Cheers Tom, good rant !!!🎉😂
Your absolutly right. I have a friend in Fla. That kicked one of those rear windows around for years. I think he finally gave it away. I sure wished You wssnt on the othet side of country from me. I would buy both of those cars today!!!
Tom, THANK you SO much for your RANT once again you are spot on. Things are worth what people will pay. Your reality checks are refreshing.
I don’t see that Crome bar across the back seat that often
There so cool the bubble back glass of NotreDame! I would love to have one with the little 273!
