Surprisingly I use this more than my Odin 2 Pro, I upgraded from my Miyoo Mini+ to this because I wanted a portable handheld that can handle all of N64 and Dreamcast, I also like the 4:3 aspect ratio screen for my retro games on this
Bonus: You can run a handful of low powered Vita games. Guacamelee, Dex, Adventure Time, Downwell, Limbo, Undertale, Shovel Knight, and surprisingly Final Fantasy X/X2 HD
I just got mine! I've been looking for a powerful and pocketable device that was around $100. I bought a 35XXH for $46 on sale but it had a defective screen, so I decided to spend a little more on quality and performance and I'm really happy I did. My only gripes with it is I wish the screen was just slightly bigger, and I also with the ABXY buttons weren't as loud as they are. In comparison, the 35XXH buttons were like half as loud. Otherwise, It's becoming one of my favorite pieces of tech I've ever owned, right next to the Steam Deck OLED. It's incredibly underappreciated and a really solid value at a budget friendly price point that I hope Retroid keeps improving on in future devices. Great review, you gained a sub!
Another bonus is that you can actually run some switch games such as Celeste, Shovel Knight and Sonic Mania. A very few select titles but I'm not complaining.
This device is where I enjoy my Ps1 and Dreamcast games the most! I like my rg35xx for gameboy (shocker) and the H for GBA (Shocker x2). However when it comes to taking a device with me, the H is my edc device.
I have the 2s and 4 pro. The 2s is more thorough in your pocket and retro game. The pro i use for the ps2 and gamecube games. The built quality is pretty solid. Highly recommend.
I bought the rp2 years ago, it was the best thing ive ever spent money on... Well now I have the rp4 pro and it's amazing! But I'm saving up for Odin 2, need that bigger screen and performance.
if you are willing to buy the RG405V then it will be worth it, since the RG405V has the power and chipset of the RG405M so you will literally have a flawless experience. (up to dreamcast and nintendo 64, gamecube is playable if you use the MMJR version)
yeah, you can run ps2, even with good quality, just have to touch the right configs, i manage to run in the 3gb ram version GOW 2, MK shaolin monks, RE4 and more, and not in potato quality
Which country? Right now on www.goretroid.com/collections/frontpage/products/retroid-pocket-2s-handheld-retro-gaming-system?variant=44096445546720 it's $99 pre shipping (which totaled about $115 for me I believe)
TrimUI Smart Pro is definitely a really good handheld, and in some ways preferable to this (imo the screen on the TrimUI is much better). But the trimui smart pro won't be able to play every N64, Dreamcast, or PSP game available, while the Retroid Pocket 2S will pretty much be able to handle all of them. And you can try some PS2/Gamecube/Wii emulation here, which the TrimUI can't do at all. But if you don't care about the extra power boost here, the TrimUI Smart Pro is a really good option for the money (I regularly see them on Aliexpress for around $55)
@@MyChannel-vm6dw Yes I agree but other people dont want separate controller and wants a machine that only dedicated for gaming. It also depends on the person what they want. Other people still buy this kind of device.
@@lloyd011721 Did some digging, and apparently on top of lacking analog triggers, the 2+ was also missing L3/R3 function on its sticks... As for power, 2S is the more powerful, while 2+ was considered too weak to handle any GC/PS2...
Not to be rude, but you realize that this company is from China. This stuff is made in China, so of course, it's not going to have free shipping. Retroid isn't charging you for the shipping they ask you which shipping provider you want to pay for. By the way, if you live in the U.S. or Canada use DHL. Yes, it's more expensive, but you'll get it much quicker it won't be amazon speed, but it will be quicker

Same here. RP2s is really a geat addition when you already have an Odin 2 which I find sometimes way too big and overengineered for N64 and below.
i just use my odin 2 pro to play android games lol. Gacha games espceially, honkai starrail, and wuthering waves. soon
temperature pls?
@@agamaz565070's F probably on the plastic. The metal case I read is supposed to be cooler around 50's F.

I got a 35xxH for $48 and love it!
High quality video. Been looking at this handheld to play wind waker on possibly

Love how this one looks. I basically just wanna emulate Amiga‘s Turrican 2 on a handheld. Will I get an Amiga emulator running.
I would like a 2s pro that lets HDMI through USB c and proper scaling for different resolutions.
And a new chip too
Great video! Just got this and I’m super excited to check out those retro games
Hope you enjoy it!

What about Saturn?
Great review. 🍻
Good video. Love my RP2S
but does it run wind waker?
configuration of emulation please
Seems like a pain in the ass with retroid models?
You forgot to link the Spanish TH-camrs channel
Thank you! Doing it right now :)
very strange, can't seem to find it below 150$

instead of using 2 fingers for A and Y then you probably should just move ur finger in terms of degrees to actually use both buttons.
Yeah normally I will change the mapping, I was waiting for someone to mention that awkward finger maneuver 😂
@GravelWare I'm not that tech savy which hand held has the most pre loaded games ?
@@mikegreen5502 idk but the RG35XX is good but I recommend the RP2S since it can play up to dreamcast with no drop in quality.
Powkiddy rgb30 vs retroid pocket 2s?
Rgb30 better screen and worse everything else (controls, performance, software)
is this still best for 100$ 4 months later ? was looking at TRIMUI SMART PRO 128GB CrossMix OS

I havent dove in yet.. have a few different Anbernic that are all basically the same thing... need to pony up and get one of these

Because of the physical buttons

Unfortunately I just don't have the brain space to curate my own retro games library. Vs a plug and play set up
