1966 Aermacchi Harley Davidson M50 Restoration Part 1
If you've never heard of an Aermacchi harley Davidson M50, well that makes 2 of us. I acquired this rare machine a few weeks ago and calling it "challenge accepted" as this isn't my typical bile restoration project. Unfortunately, I can't really say for sure if I'll actually be able to get it fully restored or not. This is part 1 of the beginning stages of the resto.

I am currently doing a 1987 RM125. I put RM250 pegs on it, drilled out the pinhole, etc. The current problem is the OEM springs from that year of RM250. The straight part of the spring is too short to reach the frame. Wondered what peg springs you used that fit the bigger pins and reached the frame. Thank you
@connorgaylord772 dang, I don't remember but quite possibly 89. Let me see if I can look at it and figure out what I used.
@ greatly appreciated
Awesome build! I’m supposed to go look at the very same bike this weekend!! Very inspired now!!! Who cut your shroud and swing arm graphics?
@doughty_racing these were beautiful bikes back then and still today. Hope you get it! Honestly I think the oem decal set for shrouds and swingarm were ebay finds. The rest of my graphics were from decal works
Beautiful bike, better than new! I just picked up a 1995 RMX250S that I am working on this winter to get it back in running condition. Love the color combination!! Classic
Wow!! You are a true artist, sir. I got one of those for my 10th birthday in 1984 and I loved everything about it! Absolutely fantastic restoration!!
Ive got a 96 kdx, in solid shape. i dont think i will ever sell it, just pass it down. So fun!
Beautiful build! I'm rebuilding an 88 as well (if it comes out half as nice as yours I'll be happy!). Question, where did you find the rear brake pedal return spring?
@@martintelford8763 I'm pretty sure I found an old stock. If I'm ever unable to find a new spring, I'll typically remove the crud with a pryme mx cleaning wheel and give it a soak in the WD-40.
I still have my 88 cr125 I bought new from Ephrata Honda, this is what I Needed to light the fire, thanks.
@@daneagan7656 great to hear! These are really great bikes. Let me know how yours is going or if I can help in any way.
beautiful bike!
@dc_5sauce thanks! I was very excited about how this one turned out especially in the condition it was in when I got it.
Great work is would you be able to send me the name of the people you use for the seat cover
@@NathanielMelendez1827 I was able to get this particular seat cover from Evo-mx in the UK

@andy5786 thanks! I loved this one!
Do you race any of these in evo ?

Hi , can I ask you for help finding spare parts? I need a cylinder for a 1986 Suzuki rm 125

Hey buddy. Do plan on putting any of those restored bikes up for sale?
Hey can you help me. I have the same bike and i want to paint the frame and i dont no what is the paintcode?
I use the same 2 places for powder coat and cerekote. The person who does my frame says this is actually called Kawasaki green. I believe its from Prismatic Powders.
Turned out beautifully! Gotta love the ole enduros, most were just stone cold reliable. I personally have a couple of the IT175's, been riding since the early 80's. Again, kudos on the 200, another great looking build! Braapp 🤙
@@albertking7012 thanks. They sure are. Just rock solid. The KDX and XRs just wouldn't die.
Yes it's the Honda Flash Red (code R119) Amazing result! 👌
Thanks, definitely a cool little bike!
Few years ago I bought an 89 kdx200 from a guy that had it in his basement hadn't written it in several years looks like a time capsule with all the stickers seat cover such good condition not show condition but damn good riding condition needs water pump seal and fork seals but runs like a dream

@@jaime24r thanks!! It's a cool bike for sure!
Where did you get those fork guard pieces if you recall thank you!
@@TuffLuckMotorsports Those are the 91 / 92 fork guards. I found someone who made an adapter to make those work on the 89.
@@jkiseracing I have a 89 just like your not near as nice! But I've got 91 92 guards
JMB was world'champ on it
Where do you get your power valve Parts at
@haileylogan1586 I had a good power valve set but the lifer arm was wore out which is typical on these. I purchased a lifter arm set from elderfield cycle in the UK. They make a nice replacement set. Or used to.
Do you have a link to the fork guard brackets? I have searched and searched . That thing is beautiful!
Unfortunately I dont. I found someone in a Facebook group who makes them.
Kawasaki KX 60 und Honda CR 60 die haben doch damals zusammen gearbeitet 😂
Wow, you nailed it! I have a running and riding '83 CR60 that will be getting restored soon. I'm currently restoring an '86 CR125.
Thats awesome. Let me know if I can be of any assistance on the CR60. I love the 86 Hondas. That 125 is a fantastic bike.
@@jkiseracing Actually yes, is your CR60 upper chain guard (black) 3d printed? If so, can you share the .stl file?
@@djantix1200 that was actually the OEM. It was still on the bike but rough shape. I vapor blasted it and got it looking great again.

@@ForidemiaFreedmia thanks! It's definitely a popular one and one of my personal favorites
Had one .and they are great and really reliable 1st year of the watercooler ..the kx models in those days were not built well but kdx was
These were definitely solid bikes back in the day. I remember this exact year 89' So far the rebuild is coming along nicely. Look for part 2 coming soon!
Cylinder should be black
Great restoration I ride it’s big brother.
Ive restored several Honda's of the 80's That era of Honda was so awesome.
Still wish i had mine. That thing was fun. Even better when i found out it was an R and had more than 4 gears. Sold it to a friend before leaving cali and miss it every day since.

Great job jimmy done well on this beauty,👌 looks like a work of art
Thanks! Its definitely a cool little bike.
Very beautiful job on the bike. I had a 88 RM 125, my friend has a 86. Wonderful memories.
Yes, I was in love with these blue frame / motor Suzuki's as a kid!
Hey man I have the same bike and want to swap a 89 kx250 swingarm, is it possible to your knowledge? Cant wait to see it finished!!
Hey there. Im not at all sure on that. If you have the measurements of the KX250 swingarm from outside pivot to pivot and the inside pivot to pivot, I could measure mine and see how close it is. The other thing would be swingarm length for chain size and handling as well as shock angle.
I've noticed you do not differentiate Between the word on and own. You use the same pronunciation for both words. Weird dude.
Must be that southern English! :)
Got the same bike. It sat in my parents shed while i spent the 90’s and 2000’s in the military overseas. Then got married and kids. My parents moved and i needed to get out of the shed. It had an 1/4 of dirt on it. Air filter was disintegrated and a lot of dry rot. Just started ordering parts for it and they are hard to find, especially that carb boot and a boyesen rad valve! nice work and I subscribed!
Awesome! Exhaust are also tough to find but they come around. Good luck on the build. Great bikes and the best looking OEM graphics of all time imo
I see a knee replacement coming soon
Ohh. I hope not!🤣
Keep up the great work. 😊
What is that frame color?
Honda calls it fighting red. I call it Honda red to my powdercoat shop. I'm going by there this week. I'll ask him.
@@jkiseracing perfect!
Sold mine restarted 100% mint and running for 500
Ive had this one on the backburner WAY too long. Once I finish the KDX I'll jump back over to this KX125.
I was wondering if you could help a noob; after months of weekend wars I rebuilt the bottom end of a rm65 (exact same as kx65). It's a 2003 and ran super strong until it wallowed out and froze up. That ended up being the crank shaft roller bearing going to pieces from sitting for about 5 years. Split case replaced fast fwd its all back together. However I can't for the life of me get the bike to start now. I have gone in circles checking compression, spark, timing, fuel... even with the carb out of the way and starter fluid into the cylinder; I can't even get a single pop (sound, a boom, a fire off, an explosion). So probably something really dumb (some little thing somewhere) is happening? Any ideas?
Whew. That can be an aggravating thing. Very hard to say. Fuel, air, spark (or electrical) you have all those things? Cdi and kill switch grounded well?
Nice score, she's a runner. I remember i was riding my 79 IT175 in the trails one time and came across a guy on a brand new KDX 200, i want to say though maybe air-cooled bike still. Maybe this was 1985 or so, first time i saw one in person and we ride together for a couple hours. Fun times the 80's were, i actually still have my IT to this day. This will be a cool build! Sounded good too...
Nice bike, but i think the rear fender isn't orignal. I've got a 1990 kdx 200 great Bike! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Hi there. Actually I think you are right. Originally I didn't recognize that the light was missing. As I was disassembling it, I realized that is was not original. The tail light wires were tucked under the frame.
I 100% think you can get this bad boy fixed dude. I'd love one of these bikes!
Thanks. It's coming along pretty nice now. Will be updating soon.
@@jkiseracing keep up the good work Jimmy!!
Great bike. I bought a new one in 1989
I remember them back then too. Very popular then and still have quite a following today.
This is the nicest classic era Kawasaki kx 125 I've ever seen. It looks like a factory bike. Great job brother.
Thank YOU!! This thing was a stunner in person! Love these old single side radiator KX models.
My father had a 1996 kdx 200 back in 1998 and obviously it was a new bike. That thing surprised me how powerful and smooth it was. Strong bike and very reliable. But the people that had that kdx in this film prior to the man here those guys ran the hell outta that thing. But this man seems like he holds value in things that bike has a good home now. Good video buddy.👍
Thanks! Going to get it back and good shape again and get another 30 years out of it!
Man what a joyful project!! You wont believe it but I have similar bike projects. When mxrevival started the rm250 project I was doing mine, it was a big surprise when I saw you finishing the suzuki (mine is still on process) and then some weeks ago I bought a kdx 220 from the 2000s here in Spain and some days after I saw you bought one too in the first kdx video. I hope mines ends as awesome as yours! Cant wait to see how this project goes! 🤘🏼
