This is the walk around video of the #broketobuilt 1989 KX125. This bike was a top 16 in the 2022 contest. This video is with the Jeff Emig inspired accents.
I'm an older guy and I remember these bikes from back in the day so I can really appreciate the work you did on this bike. The attention to detail is over the top.
I raced an 88 version of that bike, your might have a 19" rear hoop, mine had the 18" hoop. I remember that bike can shoot you up into the air if you aint careful, LOL! The engine had some really nice power and the turning was great. It was a fun bike to ride. Yours is cherry!
Hey Jimmy, great build. I'm currently doing a 87 myself and having a little trouble with the rear wheel set up. Can you remember which spacer goes on what side as they are different sizes. Cheers John.
Excellent job..can you give details or make a video on your process of restoring plastic gas tanks? I’m curious about the final stage of buffing mainly. I understand about going from heavy to light grit. Just haven’t found a way to really polish plastic without having the fine scratches even at 2500 grit.
There is a fantastic TH-cam video from my good friend Cameron niemela regardingplastic restoration. Search his channel for it. He posted it not long ago. I still struggle myself with fine scratches
Did you rebuild the front forks? I'm at the moment of doing that and stuck in mid process, I can't find a fork cylinder holder. I can't remove bottom 14mm hex nut.
You are missing the rear brake master cylinder green plastic cover. I can't find a photo of it online, but if you want I can probably send you a pic of mine.
Amigo desculpa nao falar o seu odioma.. parabéns pelo belo trabalho. Tenho uma kx 125 sou do Brasil!. preciso da pinça de freio e nao acho aqui. Por ai e facil de encontrar ? Estou sem freio

Sure did. 87 - 90 had a distinct look that I really liked. But the 93-94 was probably my favorite

Actually I sent them to Factory Connection for rebuild. They have really helped me out on these older rebuilds
I have the same bike trying to restore it currently, can’t find a service manual for the life of me. Any tips on how to get my hands on one?
I usually can find used manuals on ebay. I've had good luck doing that.
