Frank Frazetta is an artist and a world-class master. But to know that his familly has that kind of respect for his craft shows his unique dimension both as a human being and the level of education he provided you. It really cheer me up seeing this after all the sadness that befell Tolkien's works after the passing of his son. Stay true to his artistic inspirations!

Frazetta will remain at tne pinnacle of illustrators whenever people talk about the history of comics. I was stunned to learn that he essentially originated the pages for Al Capp’s Li’l Abner. Capp may have been the first cancel culture case dating back to the 60’s . He was often a sought after speaker on college campuses and he made appearances on Johnny Carson. He would use his fame to lure young co-eds with the ruse that they could be his model for a new Daisy May character and then sexually assault them. When these stories came out in the press it destroyed his entire career and rightly so. I too hope you’ll do more of this in the future.

As a retired art teacher I believe your original premise, nature and nurture go together. Some lean more one way or the other but historically both seem to be present for success. This is a good resource to learn from so I will share as a compliment. 5hank you.

Capp was born in New Haven, Connecticut, of East European Jewish heritage. He was the eldest child of Otto Philip Caplin (1885-1964) and Matilda (Davidson) Caplin (1884-1948). His brothers, Elliot and Jerome, were cartoonists, and his sister, Madeline, was a publicist.

This is a really good video! As with so many other professional artists working today, Frazetta was a huge influence on me. The first "real" art book my parents let me have was one of his. I think we all like to hear what artists inspired the artists that inspired us. The nature vs nurture argument is one that has always bothered me. It's something I'm asked a lot, and I always try to avoid it to not insult any of my fans. In truth I liken it to a surgeon working for hours and hours to save someone's life, and someone replies "thank God!" We all are inclined to be better at some things than others, but dedicating countless hours to one thing is a far bigger factor. My endless thanks to your grandfather for inspiring me for what is now a 30+ year journey as a professional artist, designer, and fine artist for Lucasfilm and Disney. Please keep these videos coming!

Nice informative, with a personal touch ...and more importantly - avoiding hyperbole. So many videos about celebrities in any profession oft become mythologized. I entered my teen years as an art student thinking wildlife - ran into work by Boris (who was just hitting his stride in book covers), Rowena, (who was just getting started), Whelan (who had also was in his early years), a few others, and of course - Frazetta. These individuals inspired, and reshaped my goals, to focus more on the human figure. Excellent strait forward history!
