I think the reason the Galor has awefule sheilds is because it was still based off the older Cardassian doctorine of armor over sheilds. The Keldon's had better sheilds because its design was influenced by Romulan tech from the Tal'Shiar. At least thats the way it work in my head cannon. 👍

Personally out of these ships my favorite is the Excelsior I know the Romulan ship is more powerful but I would trust a time-tested matter antimatter warp core to their artificial quantum singularity one power overload in the right system and you're suddenly stuck in a Time Loop or you and your crew end up killed through spaghettification lol.

im just not a big fan of the oberth, because i think other ships like the miranda did the modular ship design better. At least it's cheap and it would of been a good testing ship for stuff like fully automated systems that are slaved to a much larger ship.

Here’s my thought on firing at warp speeds it’s ALWAYS possible. The issue is the stability of warp and the power drain. In the TOS and TMP era general power output and warp fields weren’t as robust as they are by TNG so for safety sake they don’t far at warp since best cause scenario you throw yourself out of warp if you fire.

This might just be me but the Challenger class gives me similar vibes to the hero ship in the Orville.

Kulinor would get curb stomped one on one with an Excelsior class. The Cardasians might be able to win in a two on one but even then they aren't walking away unscathed. A one one with a Constitution refit, a Miranda, or a Constellation seems more like a fair fight to me.

One of the reasons the Miranda class can not maintain their highest warp speed for long durations like the Constitution Refits is due to the Miranda using the older style horizontal warp core like the ones use in TOS and Enterprise eras. Vertical cores are more efficient and can run longer without damaging the core. At least that what the technical manuals I've read have said. The class was build on the cheap but they made up for it by building hundreds of them. That why we see so many during the Dominion war.

All this is really moot discussion. The ungodly accuracy of federation ship weapons makes anything the Empire throws at them obsolete (phaser strips gives any federation ship full fire coverage on any axis). They could destroy fighters and any gun placements on the empires ships in seconds. There is a reason that "fighters" in star trek look more like corvettes or frigates than fighters.

It’s kinda silly and a little disturbing to bring in the current US political crap to a comparison of two remarkably outstanding Science Fiction franchises. I like your premise of how these two fiction/fantasy realities are brought together. Still, placing the picture of a political candidate from one mundane American political party in the uniform of the Galactic Empire when explaining how corrupt and questionable the government of the Galactic Empire is is a disservice to ST and SW fans all around. Many of the fans of both productions have political feelings one way or the other, nevertheless the one unifying element for all these people is our love for the characters, the stories, the conflicts between the perceived ideals of good or bad, the Dark vs the Light, and the other elements that give us satisfaction. There is plenty of real conflict in the current reality we find ourselves in without dragging it into our treasured stories of heroes and villains. Hell fokes, there is more than enough debate and fighting over which is better, Star Wars or Star Trek without bringing Mr. Trump or Ms. Harris into the mix! Thank you!

When talking about not intelligent commanders, you have the wrong candidate pictured.

First off, its ablative armor. 2nd, you said use Nova class ships for deep space exploration. The Nova class' top speed is like warp 8. Not saying it cant be upgraded but i wouldn't choose a slow ship for deep space exploration.

Why would the Federation be interested in hyper space lanes? It’s slow compared to warp speed. Federation ships can go wherever they want in a matter of seconds adjusting for stars and planets on the fly while Star destroyers takes minutes to get coordinates from the navigation computer and has to travel that route. Most likely the Federation ship would be able to calculate the Empires trajectory and short cut their way to the Imperial star system. You talk as if hyper space lines are worm holes. They are not.

A DS9 Runabout could take out anything short of a Star Destroyer or the Death Star. Politically, I think the Federation would treat The Empire like they treat The Breen Hegemony. Containment via an unofficial Neutral Zone while competing for Trade and Research concerns in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
