I do it for recreation mostly
I never looked down on them, since the day i first really looked at them seriously, about 2013, reading the history, people's experiences i though, "wow...cool, fascinating"
Mushrooms is just technicolor and feels... it's all good. Oh yeah, gotta love Synchronicities
We are just 1 in 8 billion. Limited editions maybe. But c'mon, what we do don't really matter in the grand scheme. It's a jungle out here man, it's the game of survival
Kurt Cobain is one of my earliest musical heroes
The herd is all powerful. Look up managerialism
You only took it, cause you wanted to be accepted by them. For whatever reasons at that time. I know this situation, i've been through it many times. As long as you don't stay TOO LONG IN IT, it's not too bad. You can learn from anything. Studying people. Absorbing. But there are so many terrible influences out there. Not worth associating with. Autonomy of consciousness MUST BE PROTECTED at all costs, a person is kind of worthless shell without it. A empty shell, where anybody can dump their crap into. Happens all too often. Breaking down a person through harsh criticism is brainwashing 101. Almost every child is a victims of this, "for their own good"
Right now i am super confident and calm. Yesterday i was kind of mixture of empathically morose, with some belligerent defiance. Tomorrow i do not know what i will be. And don't really care. I am the changing clouds. I am the very definition of mercurial.
"critical feedback" uh, that sounds like bullying dude...
That sounds like "flow"
I ghost people all the time
I don’t know if you still feel that way but just wanna let you know that I’m glad you posted this video. I’m struggling with this rn and really needed to hear it from someone who has been in that place and found a way to get out of there. So thank you for sharing your experience, it helps to see we’re not alone in the things that we go through. 🤍
Thank you so much

I always thought about doing this to some extent, but I didn't have the courage or something probably held me back.
Because of the awfulness in Gaza, I’ve had a lot of thoughts about evil lately and what an experienced and knowledgeable Buddhist would say about Netanyahu. I’ve even imagined a conversation between Buddha and him/leaders like him. I really like the way Alok Vaid-Menon and Jeffrey Marsh talk about empathy. I’ve never seen any of your videos before but I searched for “empathy with hate” and found this video. I scrolled through your videos and quite a few of them have titles that interest me so I subscribed to your channel just now :)
24 for me.
42 here...and I'm 42, lol
I have autism and I'm unemployable. At least it seems so. Been on disability for 12 years. I worry I'm a burden on my family.
I like your goofy giggle. May your book benefit others and may you be seen for who you really are.
Thank you so much 🙏🏻☺️✨
I stumbled upon your guidebook to hunting in a library - it's everything I could ask for as someone who wants to get into hunting. Love the content that I'm seeing here on your channel. Your authenticity and connection to the world around you is beautiful.
... Everyone finds their way and justifies it in their own way and that doesn't mean they are right ... so ...
Thank you for this, really helpful. Your voice is very calming.
Aw thank you so much! 🙏🏻😊
You have a great voice. Thanks for sharing your life.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
I am single/unmarried by choice and it has served me well. Honestly and truthfully, having a life partner is all rooted out of selfish reasons which involve companionship, sexual satisfaction and financial security. As a single/unmarried man, the mindset I have is that I can go out and do whatever I want whenever I want. I can eat what I want, watch what I want on TV or film, do the activities I want and to wear the clothes and accessories I want. None of these things are possible when you have a life partner because you have to prioritize another adult.
It is beautiful... our unique path and having those contrasting experiences to guide us with growth. I appreciate that you shared this because I get that way too by comparing. I catch myself, but don't always work through it like I should. But when I do, 😊 I tell myself the same thing, "It's just different." And I love that!
🙏🏻☺️✨
In recent years I've found actual SEX with another man to be impossible. In any such situation, other sensibilities (let's say "the sensual and exotic" versus "the sexual and erotic" - as well as two minds meeting) absolutely dominate. Interestingly, these are better experiences than any sexual experiences I've had in at least 38 or 39 years, to such extent that it has again become "worth the cost" to hire occasional two-hour escorts. It's generally a cuddle-and-massage session with little if any hint of sex, and those I've hired (five different men since 2006 or so) have been very happy to have an experience that is far outside their usual experiences with clients. I maintain some degree of contact with four* of these five, with long "not-clock-watching" sessions and occasional hikes and such with one of these guys - a genuine friendship. *I didn't maintain contact with one, who had a much stronger emphasis on the sex part, as that's not what I look for... This transformation is so complete that even my session with an ultra-muscular guy in Michigan in 2021 (and a redhead with blue eyes, checked off a lot of boxes, whoa) was utterly and thoroughly platonic, and I think it's pretty safe to say that "bodybuilder escorts" NEVER encounter entirely-nude two hour sessions that are totally nonsexual. He was surprised to be treated entirely as a human being and not an "erotic object". That I self-test as an empath and my MBTI self-test shows me as an INFJ (the rarest of 16 classifications), is not surprising.
Thank you Miles <3. I've been alone for 4 years too... The whole process's been surprisingly easy and very restorative, and now I'm wondering whether it's normal to enjoy my company this much!? Lol. I would like to find a new partner, but I really hate online dating, haha 😂
Sounds like a beautiful experience! And I hear you re: online dating 😂🙃. Wishing you the very best in your journey! 🙏🏻☺️✨
Your life 2020-2024 is a lot like mine. Thank you, this made me feel less alone.
That’s amazing - thank you 🙏🏻
You look really beautiful and glowing. I'm so glad you have found peace with yourself. I just ended a long-term relationship, and I'm deciding I really need a break for myself. My goal is to be celibate for at least a year. I've done it before. It feels great to come back to ourselves and be true to ourselves. I feel that as women, we really lose track of our value and just jump into bed with men way too easily. I'm going to value myself and save my sacred sexuality for a person who really deserves it. And if no one deserves it, that's fine too.
Thank you so much - wishing you the very best in your journey! 🙏🏻☺️✨
why not celibate for life sex is just a want not a need
I relate so much to the experiences you described, it kinda blows my mind.
This video is so beautiful, Miles. Thank you for sharing your experience and the way you interpreted it's meaning in your life. This vid deserves more views lol
Aw thank you so much Rachel! 🙏🏻☺️✨
What about massages, is this fine?
Really relate to this. I’m a “mainstream” clinical psychologist by profession but am also clairvoyant & intuitive. Sometimes I am not as aware as I should be of accidentally using the latter skill-set in sessions. For the most part, I think patients tend not to notice when I speak about stuff they have not actually told me. Occasionally people do notice and remark on that but it tends to be positive (they feel understood or I figure out they’re struggling with a particular condition they didn’t know was a thing, etc.). Buuut, I recently had a first session with someone whom I could tell just did not like me. Was trying to ignore that feeling when I got too close to home with describing their relationship dynamic-I could see it so clearly. I strongly felt they did not want to be with their partner. Long story short, I said exactly that & triggered a panic attack (shitty, because I specialize in trauma & it felt like being a perpetrator). The next day, I got an email from this person describing how unsafe they felt, how unprofessional they thought I was, etc. I think being too aware of their antipathy towards me in the session-so being too empathic-interfered with me practicing as skillfully as I otherwise would & ironically, with treating this person as sensitively as I otherwise would have.
Oh wow thanks for sharing - what an amazing example of how part of you that would create safety for many people under many circumstances, can sometimes move things in another direction. I can relate!
I found your “How to Open Your Heart” book first (after googling that question) & then your TH-cam channel. Your book was the most personally influential book I have read in years. I have been recommending it to friends & people I work with. I massively relate to so much of what you speak about, and am inspired by your honesty. Actually the topic that connected the most for me was your discussion about being dependent on getting a hit of sexual affirmation from women & how you worked to change your energy. I’m definitely the female version of that and don’t like this about myself. It’s something I am actively working to change but don’t hear many people (any outside addiction recovery circles!) discuss this!
I look forward to reading it. I am halfway through “How to open your Heart” which is how I found your channel. Lots of great wisdom in there, things I’ve felt but not yet been able to put words to, it has given me much more to explore. It’s been while since I’ve read a book I didn’t want to put down. This one has had me so excited for each chance I get to pick it back up. Thanks for sharing it with the world 🙏
Aw that's amazing - thank you so much for sharing!
When I was a kid I brought a brand new purse I’d been given for Christmas to church with me, and it had my favorite Christmas presents inside it, my favorite of which was a little bottle of green tea perfume, and a dog tag that my biological dad had custom made with a photo of me and him on it. That dog tag especially meant the world to me. The purse ended up being stolen while I was in the church service, and I was devestated. I checked the lost and found for months after it and kept asking everyone if they’d seen it. It never turned up. I think I’m going to buy myself some green tea perfume and have a dog tag custom made with a photo of me and my dad on it. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story from your inner work :)
Aw wow what a beautiful gift for your little self! Beautiful 🙌🏻☺️✨

Very brave inner journey. Wowww, what a strong man. This I guess was so hard and deep journey to go through what you did! Have you achieve what you wanted? By the way, are you from England?
Thank you for the kind words! And no, I am not from the UK - Canada is home for me ☺️
Hi again…I regret to inform you the Apple podcast version is cutoff at the 14 minute mark 🙈. I listened to this rest here on the TH-cam’s. I have a tough relationship with my parents unfortunately and I have tried many times to repair it to no avail. I live in a different state than them and honestly, it’s been more healing to be further away from them. In your case, yes you could have done it another way maybe but this is the journey your soul chose. Even the apologies to your family were a learning lesson in itself. Again, Thank you for your words!
Oh no - thank you so much again! 🙏🏻🙈😂. I actually caught it this time and fixed the issue, but there must be a time lag on that showing up on various platforms ☺️ And yea, totally, I might have just needed copious amounts of space to experience something specific ☺️. I’m glad you’ve taken the space you need and found what works for you ☺️🙌🏻
Thank you for sharing!
🙏🏻☺️
Why did you disengage from your parents for that long? I didn't communicate with my mother for 5 years, for good reason. When I reconnected, I realised she hadn't changed a bit and I was retraumatised. When you speak so highly of your parents now, I'm interested to know why you initially abandoned them.
I’m so sorry to hear that was your experience, that sounds really hard. The short answer to your question is: I think I got caught up focusing on the negative for a few years. Maybe once I got past that, I could see things in a more balanced or loving way.
@@milesolsen_ Thanks for that. My mother died last year. Now I have nothing to be angry at, if you get my meaning. I'm still the person who was traumatised, but now see value in that. Overall, I've learned that we hang on to stories that we, and society, have created to confine us into a way of thinking that's unhealthy and based on lies. If you can untangle yourself from those untruths, life seems simpler and easier. I know now why ppl want to live off grid.
I've been appreciating hearing your stories, it helps me. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, I really appreciate it ☺️🙌🏻

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that the podcast version of this video was cutoff at the 9 minute mark. I was really enjoying the listen and then it abruptly cut off. As always, thank you for your words. :)
Hey thank you Kristen! Yes I think there was a little tech glitch there, it looks like I hopefully resolved it. Thank you again, I really appreciate it ☺️🙏🏻
Of course! I just wanted to make sure the other podcast listeners that don’t venture into TH-cam land had the opportunity to hear your sentiments.
What a refreshing testimony. I can relate somewhat. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Loved this
Thank you 🙏🏻
I love this subject. The focus is often given toward life as it unfolds towards certain preordained goals such as wealth and fame. Seldom do we draw the lens back from that to consider the richness that is infused in the full spectrum of the human drama. You have the courage and sensitivity to do this, and as such, it deeply resonates with the listener. There is so much that lies largely forgotten and unseen in the back corners of our experience. There is a need to bring it forward, not only because it is fascinating, but because it also begins to create the footpaths for the underlying unity connecting us all.
Very well said 🙏🏻☺️✨
Great video Miles---subscribed!

First off, great shirt! But, i have a similar experience with getting a "dead end job" . Started one about 6 months ago that i thought wouldnt be good .. but i am realizing the benifits physically and mentally now. Well cheers
That’s awesome! And thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you Miles! <3 Your Video was on my suggestion page somehow and I felt called to watch it. You've given me something to think about. I've had a similar experience with me trying university even though I said I would never. But "normal people my age" actually also reflect a lot to me about myself. Interesting experience...
That’s great to hear! Thank you 🙌🏻
