    Just got the sr8 and wow I love it. Bass is tight, clean and fast. Mids are lush, forward and thick. Treble isn't shouty, sibilant nor fatiguing. A very dynamic and musical yet natural timbre iem that is so great all rounder. Only nitpick would be lacking in subbass and airy region. Other cons would be poor packaging that can't fit in the sr8 and lacking essential cleaning accessories. Overall, I rate the sr8 an 8.8/10

    Got the EW200 six days ago and the Zero 2 today. Zero 2 are immediately getting returned. Dynamics, transients, and resolution are infinitely better on the EW200. Tuning is better too imo. I currently own a rotation of the JVC FDX1, Blessing 2: Dusk, and Raptgo Hook-X. I now reach for the EW200 over the others. How Simgot engineered these, and at $40 no less, is an astonishing achievement. This IEM completely destroys the market at anything under $150.

    Did you have the final version of the Hisenior Mega 5 Est? Some reviewers made vids about it, but had the pre final tuning version, so hard to use their review as a solid source, lol. Im really interested in buying these, but one reviewer said that regardless of what you are listening to, there is always a presence of bass. For example, they said something as simple as watching podcasts, you will still hear the bass when people are talking, etc. Would you say you agree? I prefer good separation, lol

    If we're talking price. For the price of either one of those 2. You can get 3 of the super awesome discontinued AKG N5005 from Harman. They go for only $159 and blow these 2 away in sound quality or at the very least match them. They use to be $1000 IEM. Get them while they last. You'll never need another pair of IEM after.

    I think the HiSenior Mega 5 EST are a bit interesting, extremely sensitive to tips and they need to be cranked to really experience the mids. I’m not sure it’s my favorite balance overall. One IEM I think everyone should try is the Night Oblivion Butastur. It’s an extremely balanced set, but its main drawback is that the bass isn’t the hardest hitting. It’s a very neutral IEM with incredible vocals and detail without being fatiguing.

    It s a myth that BAs lack in bass.If they are well implemented they are equal or better but you need at least two to be able to bring the quality and the rumble

    • @Cujobob
      @Cujobob หลายเดือนก่อน

      BAs can do a fantastic job with bass. People widely disagree on what bass should sound like, though. Good bass is so natural that it never stands out, but many don’t like this, hence why most preference curves exaggerate the bass a fair amount.

    • @nyverinorlyth9555
      @nyverinorlyth9555 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cujobob I mean that is only for music that doesn't have a bass emphasis in the mix. If you lack bass for a track that is supposed to have a large amount of bass. The IEM is simply lacking it. By the same token, if you have too much bass for a track that doesn't have such a focus you are too overly focused on it. For example EDM and Jazz. As such the usual goal is for like you said, for the IEM to have a neutral sound while still assuming the average listeners HRTF ( or penna effects ). In this way, when the user listens to different tracks, the focus of the track can come from the mix or the track itself rather than some tuning that is overly specific to the song. If you think about it, while mastering a song you are able to EQ every aspect of the song separately, while when you EQ or tune an IEM this is applied to the whole track, as such a neutral tuning is essentially the only viable option, assuming you want to be able to use the IEM for whatever you want, and listing to well mastered music should fix the lacking feeling of bass if you have it. for the case that you are listening to poorly done music, you can simply EQ in the amount of bass or mids or whatever you'd like. The best case would be that the song already does this and bakes it into the master, if not you can create some presets and switch according to what type of music you are listening. The downside is that this is somewhat tedious, in but that is what you have to deal with for sound quality when listing to poorly mastered music. the main reason for IEMs specifically having to include the HRTF into the tuning is this: if it's in the song itself, it would present a very unnatural sound for speaking, as speakers do not bypass the ear penna, as essentially you are counting it twice, the same thing for headphones too.

    not sure if you've had the chance to listen to ie600, but if you have, how would it compare to the mega5est? and which one would you prefer subjectively?

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard the ie600, but I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of it, I didn't dislike it but I found it underwhelming and not very engaging. I prefer the mega5est a lot more subjectively. I also think the Mega5est is a lot better technicality wise as well. 🙂

    Have you heard Thieaudio Monarch Mk2, if so how do these compare?

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard the monarch mk2, but not for a extended period of time so please take my comparison with a grain of salt. From memory, the mk2 was less bright and less fatiguing but had less detail in the treble. The mids were about the same on both, maybe slightly better on the monarch mk2. I preferred the bass on the mk2 in terms of quantity(more bass on the mk2) but in terms of quality I believe they are pretty close. Imaging was better on the monarch mk2, stage was approximately the same width but there was slightly better depth on the mk2. Overall I prefer the monarch mk2 but the mega5est is actually very close and a better value imo, also if you enjoy brighter leaning sets and want a better treble I think the Mega5est is the better iem. I found the monarch mk2 to be less bright than the Mega5est. I do want to reiterate though, that it has been a while since I have heard the mk2 and I am basing this off of memory so please take this comparison with a grain of salt. 🙂

    Hey, recently found your channeo and thought your opinion could be helpful! im currently sitting between these and the scarlet mini I mainly listen to hip hop, old school and underground/alt rap, but I also listen to a lot of jazz and rnb and some indie too. My dilema is a powerful bass is obviously very beneficial for hip hop, but at the same time I have never specifically called myself a basehead nor do a listen to any edm either, so I love bass but would not want to sacrifice resolution and detail for it How do you think the 5est compares to scarlet mini or maybe are there any other sets you would recommend in this price bracket?

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! I sadly haven't heard the scarlet mini so I can't give a good opinion on that 😕. The Mega5est does rap well but I don't think it will have as much bass as you are looking for and I think the sa6mk2 would be the better option in your case. Another set in the price range I feel would may work well for you is the penon 10th edition. 🙂

    • @rappersorbee
      @rappersorbee หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PraisedAudio have not checked the penon out before so thank you for the rec, I was def considering the mega5est the most so hearing its bass isn't sufficient is unfortunate. what about jazz or RNB tho, how would you say the 5est performs in those genres? I heard the 5est is very sensitive to tip rolling so maybe the bass and tonality could be improved with velvet tips or something? man do I wish this hobby wasn't so complicated haha, if I had more money Id just get a basehead iem plus a more resolving detail beast as a secondary, and so I guess thats why I'm really attracted to the mega and other "jack of all trades" iems that could do well for both bassy and also detail dependant genres. thanks for the recommendation tho ill be checking both out, if you have any more thoughts related to iems that do hip hop and also have crazy detail lmk, your reviews are some of the most descriptive I've found!

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Sadly I don't listen to any jazz or RNB so I can't really comment well on that, but for hip hop and bass heavy music the Penon 10th is great, not only for bass heavy genres either, it's a pretty good all rounder imo, with the downside being soundstage. I do cover that all in my review of the Penon 10th Edition. 🙂

    • @rappersorbee
      @rappersorbee หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PraisedAudio After your recommendation I spent some time reading and watching reviews about the penon, very convincing, tho you say in your review that instruments don't really sound natural which is the only thing that worries me, especially since most of the hip hop I listen to is sample-based with jazz and soul chops aside from also actually listening to jazz so there is a lot more instruments in my library than a lot of the synth-based more modern hip hop would have, I could even link you a couple of songs so you could recommend it more accurately since genres can be so different than just saying "rap" or "rock" with how the sounds can vary within but I dont wanna take up too much of your time haha thank you for sharing your thoughts I appriciate it, Ill keep considering and reading but the penon is now at the top of the list (EDIT: how do you compare penon 10th vs mega 5 est?)

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd say the penon is a much more colored sound while the Mega5est is a bit more accurate. The Mega5est has more detail and is more energetic but is more fatiguing while the Penon has a more prominent bass response, and more forward mids and is warmer sounding. The Mega5est has a wider stage though. Both are great options I think if you want a main difference is that with the Mega5est you are getting a more accurate and detailed response with a wider stage, while with the Penon you are getting a more punchy forward bass and mids with a overall more intimate and colored sound signature. 🙂

      @@PraisedAudio ah alright. I was actually thinking of gifting one for a friend who owns an er2se and a xm4. He has talked about this set and how he's curious to try one after seeing all the positive reviews. Sadly where we live there are no places to demo iems, headphones and the like. My worry is if this iem would be atleast a side grade to what he already has. The er2se definitely would be better in almost every aspect but I hope the kiwis would be able to do the "fun" stuff better. He likes bass(not basshead levels). So I'd like to know if this is a good option or are there better options to complement what he already has at this price.

    • @PraisedAudio
      @PraisedAudio หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think this is probably the best option at the price that I have tried so far for what your looking for. It isn't the most technical, but if it's enjoyability and bassy tuning you are looking for, this is still a great option at the price! 🙂
