Just done it, and thanks for the video. Used the swissstop bxp, noticed that it fits very snuggly on the fibrax pad. Can’t take them out, which is a drag when you discover that one of them has the screw that doesn’t come off. Will do it all again tomorrow with a new set of full swissstop. Thanks for the video! 😊
Very good comment about rust inside the tube damaging the Brompton toolkit. Thanks for that.
Good to know!!!
This has been brought to my attention today when a van deliberately tried to side swipe me whilst cycling with the dog he then threatened to run me and my dog over he proceeded to pull over get out and throw a glass bottle at us I aways pull over to let people pass if there is space but there wasn't I'm fick skinned so not particularly upset about it we just stayed on the busy road where there where other road users to witness us incase he did something to us where we usually would have gone left into the side street just incase your wondering the dog safely attached to the bike on the left/curb side via a proper harness and bike dog bracket and is trained to maintain this position without pulling
I’m getting my 2013 Brompton M3L back on the road again after quite a few years. I noticed that the latest pumps looked different to my older one. Thanks for the tutorial, it’s been very useful.
You are able to move the leather-cover back, and by that it will protect the frame better from passing shoes during use. I have a similar cover but have now sown leather on my frame and up the stem! I have 6 gears but hardly use the low set. As You I have also put two - release bands round my hubs, with a shortened version, new hole made, in front. Finn. Denmark
Got my first one a couple of months ago and I'm smitten . I now can't really see myself buying a non-folding bike in the future because I know it would get less use. The portability of the Brompton is obviously it's big selling point but it really makes a massive difference to its usability
Those hub shiners are brill. When I was a little kid in the late 1960s my father had those on his Raleigh 10-speed and I was impressed even then. They had little reflectors on them.
Looks fragile, girly girly feminine
Girly cycle not for men
I wish the bike specs were more transparent. What exactly is the Nm torque? What brand battery? What brand motor? What type of disc brakes? What hill gradients can it do? Seems to me bike manufacturers deliberately hide or obscure relevant information like that, which would help to make an informed decision, and most reviewers also take a casual approach to it.
Slime in the tyre tube might help !
Brompton riders seem to have a lot of punctures. Is it because of the 100 psi tyre pressure or the little wheels? I’d love one myself but don’t want the worry of continual punctures. Excellent video by the way and very informative.
I think that it's mainly due to the factory supplying it with city tyres.
Thanks for this useful video! It would be awesome if you could list every single item mentioned in this video with the exact sizes/specifications! Ideally with a link to where to buy it, but if we have the details we can at least look for it ourselves :)
how do i tighten the brakes if they are too loose and the brake cable cannot be further tightened using the handlebar cable adjuster ?
canal all the way
Hello I collect my first Brompton on Tuesday in London. I’m very excited. I need to carry a couple of 25mm thick 2kg samples that measure 36cm wide x 33cm high. Please can you let me know either the dimensions of these two Wotancraft bags and indeed if you think these samples will fit. Thanks.
Have U had any worn parts replacement so far? Any adjustments?
1:43 I would 100% fall into that canal.
The drain cover part of the video actually had me puckering up 😱 Thanks for the video 🏆
I’m seriously thinking of getting one of these as my “everyday bike” rather than a standard sized hybrid. I’ve got road, touring and MTB bikes and I’m looking for a hybrid (mainly as my tourer is getting heavier as I keep on adding racks and extra stuff) and I think the Brompton will be great. My commute is 12 ish miles and I think a Brompton would cope fine with it and then it’s got the practicality of being able to take it everywhere. I think it could be the bike for me
What a helpful video and a great bag!
Watched again. I live in New York City so I could jump on the subway if I needed to but I just started carrying a few hex keys and a wrench because I just got a new saddle, pentaclip, grips and lights so I’ve been using my tools a lot. Everything still needs a little adjustment still. I like tools. I’ve blew up my tire, and had about two flats. I’m getting better at changing. The first one took the long time so hard to get the tire off but even the bike mechanic thought it was hard getting it off so that made me feel better. So I’m thinking about getting the Brompton toolkit again. The cost is what makes it hard to decide.
I’ve always been concerned about getting a puncture on the back wheel and hardly ever used my Brompton for that reason. Really appreciate this video and now feel happier to get out on my Brompton more. Thanks very much.
You were told the pin would cost £75. My bike has over 7,000 Km "on the clock" and the spindle was quite worn. For your reference, this is the line showing its cost on the invoice from the legendary Brilliant Bikes: Q102708 Brompton Advance Rear Hinge Spindle Assembly - P Line / T Line £4.17 Depending on your location and pandemic conditions, there were probably additional costs involved, or even other parts that I did not require?
Thanks for sharing that. I will use that technique
amazing. i didn't know u could change it without taking the wheel off. thanks!
What about rags ? Other solutions also have moisture retention. I still have some worn ..., I don't know the name in English.
Reflective, but still not fluo.
How does it work in winter? Winter as in 60 north, snow, slush, ice, freezing temp?
Shocking difference. Your bike repairs cost less than a car serice or one tire.
VERY useful video. Very. Thank you. I have not ordered my Brompton yet, am looking at A or C line fir context. If you could have only one, would you go internal 3spd or the two. And the problems you mention with the 2-spd, do you think they must exist on the 6-spd as well, no? It is a combo of both units afteral.
Another big diff is the weight
😎🚴I'm happy that you like your brommie, I like your channel. 6 months isn't a long time, but you hit the core points. Gets you there, enjoying the ride, no worries about people messing around with it. IMHO, once you go brommie, you never go back. People discuss bikes in all ways possible, but you voiced the three parts that matter most. I could add a fourth: Safety first. Sometimes the safest way to cycle is slowly. For example, sharing a narrow bridge crossing with pedestrians. Or, as I did just this week (I'm American), leaving a 4th of July event with all kinds of pedestrians crowding to reach their cars to join the traffic jam. Got me there and back, safely, having fun. Bonus tidbit: It was a bring-your-own seating event. Folded, a brommie makes a good chair on uneven terrain. (More stable when you turn the seat backwards.)
브롬톤에 대한 좋은 정보 감사합니다. 싯 포스트 밑에 고무마게를 잃어버렸는데 이게 꼭 있어야 하는건가요?
I just had my first flat on a Brompton in 12-years. Yes, It was on the rear wheel. It took me about 2-hours to change it. Not only do you need to be careful where you put your nuts and washes, but you also have to deal with the gear chain and the regular bike chain. The gear chain is pretty nuanced and you have to be careful taking it off and putting it back on to ensure you're gearing is set-up correctly. That would be a nightmare in the dark and cold. Thankfully, I was able to do it at home. Your method is a great option for all the reasons you mentioned. Thank you.
Thanks for video. I'm still trying to work out how you close it when it's fully loaded and the top can't be rolled down.. The side straps look like they only work if the top is fully rolled down.
The odd time I go to a supermarket with my Brompton, I fold it up and stick it in a trolley 😊
This ebike is now of interest to my disabled wife. Could I ask you a favour and tell me the tooth count of the chain ring, it’s usually stamped on it eg 52T? Thanks
I've not seen those frame protectors before. Where do you get them in Europe?
Hi lovely informative vid. I am from India and I ride a Fuji Touring and ride mainly ON FLAT ROAD. I am looking to buy a Brompton for my wife and I have been checking the 3 n 2 speed. My challenge is - in this part of the world we really don’t have the know how of a Brompton locally. Just a few scattered across the country. Spares being expensive and largely unavailable except through the LONE retailer in South India. While external Shimano and SRAMs are plenty to the count and readily available, my fear is a Brompton is an expensive challenge to have. Hence I am looking for utmost reliability and long term usage. My Fuji gets serviced at the local bike shops and it’s cheap to maintain. In this regard do u suggest 1. Get a Brompton nonetheless, and therefore which speed. 2. Avoid the Brompton totally.
Is the arcc electric much lighter than the wisper electric as we have one also please great video.
I purchased a 2nd hand Brompton in early March 2024. It was a bargain as it was highly specced ARCC. Imagine my delight that I noticed 3 months later it had the cylindrical shaped tool kit. Ironically the spanner does not fit the nuts on the front wheel as it contains the ARCC built wheel which has smaller nuts.
I've had so many punctures on my Brommie and I've always removed the wheel to repair at the roadside. Your way is brilliant! Thanks for uploading
These protections... It looks like living in a museum instead that living in the wind... However, some good ideas, and everybody on his own!
Thank you for the video. Helped me put my kit back together after putting on a new tube. Was really stumped. I too thought the kit was an extravagance but have absolutely no other tools. Didn’t know about the ratchet until your video. Nothin like a great ratchet! Thanks again. I do feel appreciative of its attributes and secure having it and a spare tube along without having to think about it. I’m going with gratitude. And hope. That I’ll never need it. lolll I’m looking for a lifetime small torque thingy to put in the first aide kit.
ALL useful ♥️🎶. Thank you
Yes but what is it like to ride?
As soon as drivers see your rear camera, there is a completely different attitude, it's really noticeable
Brompton is still the best way to get around the city
