      Glad you think so too. They are pretty special bikes once you have had one makes you think how you managed without it! 😀👍

    Thought I'd watched all your videos already! Always looking for Brompton content and I've watched (almost) everything except the visual world tours at this point and I'm starting on them

    It hadn't really occurred to me before, but you're right. If you need a folding bike it's likely to be important to you for it to be well behaved when folded. I hadn't realised that other brands might not have addressed this point.
    One point you might have mentioned is that the Brompton is just about the only bike that meets the size limitations required by UK bus and train companies. Not always enforced, but still... The prospect of a mixed commute or bus and bike days out was definitely a factor in my own purchase. A bus driver might refuse you with your Whisper but not me and my Brompton - well, not as long as I had it covered (50p laundry bag!) Mind you - I wont be popping it in the luggage area and going upstairs...

      Yes I was really surprised as well about the folding and seemed like a big error to me In terms of folding when I got it. The Wisper is great I’m terms of the bike, but you are definitely right. Wouldn’t even think about taking it on a train or bus because it is just a pain to transport when folded. Think it’s great if you are just looking to save some space though when storing it.

      David, you can get on my bus with your Brompton any day... 😀. No Bus driver will refuse it. You don’t even need to cover it. You can even keep it by your seat. We take any folding bike but if it’s like the Whisper then you would have to keep holding it shut and keep it in the wheelchair area. I can’t wait to get my Brompton.

    Yes this video has been very useful thank you , your videos are always full of really good useful information 👍 I have been toying with getting my Brompton an electric pack but this has had me rethinking things ...so, thank you for that 👍

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think the electric pack does add a bit of weight to the Brompton but it would still fold up exactly same. 👍

    Excellent video, plus you captured two of my two-wheeled darlings in one video, the Brompton that I don't yet have (scheduled for production next week) and the Vespa GTS that I love, love, love. I ordered my Brompton with a rack because carrying it on my Vespa's passenger seat with the rack to support it is going to be an important way that I will use my Brompton to explore Toronto and its bike paths. Keep up the good work.

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I love the e-bike. It is a great bike but just lets itself down in terms of staying folded up. Think next time I get a Brompton will look at a rack. I could put one on this I suppose and the rack would be really useful in the future. Glad you enjoyed it and good luck on the adventure exploring Toronto. Sounds awesome!

    Another cracking video 👍 thanks! I don’t think I would ever be tempted by any Brompton alternatives but ‘horses for courses’ as they say. Have you tried a Velcro strap to hold the electric one together when it’s folded - low tech but effective and might help? Stay safe and mind the ice too! 😃

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Amanda. Now I have experienced the Brompton not going to be looking at anything else. I did make some Velcro straps for it to help, but because it is so heavy (24kg) it still kept coming apart after carrying it while. It’s fine for what we are using it now which is taking it away on holiday but not carrying it folded. More of a space saving tool.

    • @amandaleigh3852
      @amandaleigh3852 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CycleEveryday 24 Kg 😲! I use a strap on my Brompton’s sometimes if I want to push it with the saddle up which I sometimes do in supermarkets (my old lady back aches if I push/pull it folded too long!) - the strap stops it opening 😉

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@amandaleigh3852 yeah I think I might need to do that soon. Ordered some easy wheels for it so I have the option to wheel it around. Generally it’s fine as don’t spend much time in shops, but does get heavy after a while 😂

    • @amandaleigh3852
      @amandaleigh3852 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CycleEveryday They certainly do! The other thing I got was the rear wheel bar extender from bike gang in Taiwan. I bought a UK one first, but it was flimsy, no complaints with the Taiwanese one, and it’s much more stable for wheeling about if I go shopping 😁

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@amandaleigh3852 I was thinking about that as an option. Going to see how I get on with the easy wheels first and then look at that in the future potentially. Think if I had the Brompton with the rack would definitely look at that one.

    Get the easy wheels and a new rack, makes shopping easier

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Got some easy wheels on order. I know the rack would make it more stable but don’t want to fit one on this bike. I know it’s more practical but not sure I like the look as much with a rack on, but contemplating it in the future. 👍

    Great part is I don't need lock anymore to go shopping or anywhere else
    I could buy few or more as it easily to store in my house
    Worse part is more energy spent on peddling those tiny wheels than 29er
    Also so bumpy.

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lock is definitely a huge benefit. To be honest I find the Brompton easier to pedal than my 29 inch bike. Obviously the tyres are a lot different which will play a big part but find the Brompton a lot faster and easier. It is bumpier though for definite 👍

      I think brompton should bring SP (Steve Parry ) version back on market

    • @CycleEveryday
      @CycleEveryday  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had a look on those versions. Interesting and can see the reason some might consider some of the extras. Personally wouldn’t go with any of those though. Like the standard Brompton because it is so simple and easy to maintain. I have not had much luck with v-brakes or disk brakes in the past and although they are useful in wet weather, find them a lot of hassle in the long run and personally prefer the brake system on the Brompton as it is. It is a good idea for people that want something custom made though so would be interesting if it was brought back.

      Hi there, yes that is relatively new and planning on doing a video on that in the next couple of weeks. I got it from the same place I got the frame protector. Jim sent one to me to try out and it is really great! here is the link if you want to take a look at one www.jimbarrettbespokeleather.co.uk/ourshop/prod_7466217-Leather-Stem-Protector-for-Brompton-Bicycles.html
      It is £16.99 but definitely helps with the cables rubbing on the frame
