Thanks for the Sub it’s really appreciated. As for air mats I fully understand your pain. They make way more sense than a cot and I really wanted them to work but, like you, I’ve woken up at three in the morning to find it’s sprung a leak. And I know they can be repaired in the field but it’s sometimes not that simple or easy. I now only use the cot. It’s pretty much bomb proof. The only reason I made the video because they sent me that leg for free. I was so impressed. I originally sent them an email just asking if I could buy the part and after a bit of email tennis they sent me the replacement. To me that’s worth paying the premium. Yes you can buy replica cots at half the price but I doubt you will get customer service like that. I have the Helinox chair one and it’s probably my all time favourite bit of camping gear. Still this is expensive kit, probably not worth paying the premium if your not a regular camper that will get there moneys worth. Anyway enough waffle. Strange as it may seem, I don’t think I had ever heard of the brand Knox before getting this jacket. After a bit of research they seem to have been making biking kit for some time. Really, really happy so far… but time will tell how it stands up to some serious hi mileage. P. S looks like you had a blast at the ABR👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Rolf. I’m loving this jacket. I think it could be, dare I say it, a “game changer” when it comes to Adv riding and especially camping as you can use whatever jacket you have as your round camp jacket can become your bike outer shell when riding. This all means less weight. In terms of comfort it’s seriously like you are wearing nothing. I wish I had it for Morocco. I mean, if your getting that kind of mileage out of your final drive before it fails, and like me, you’ve done zero maintenance to it I don’t think you can complain too much. What a great bike. I agree it is a ridiculous amount of money for what it is and hard to justify, I believe the price has significantly risen since I got my cot. The only single justification (that I can think of) is the manufacturer support out of warranty but is that worth the price?

I think using the 2 x 12 ltr on the sides is the perfect set-up. I just haven’t mastered taking less stuff with me yet! Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍🏼

Haha, it’s so refreshing to read someone’s comment that mirrors exactly what your thinking. Your absolutely spot on with your description. I forked out a fortune for my MSR whisperlite. Within 4 days I had virtually completely abandoned it. Dirty, smelly & awkward but does it have a genuine place for us campers, but definitely at the extreme end of the camping spectrum. I stick with my opinion that the Trangia is probably the best stove if you don’t know what you want as it will do it all and you could always convert to gas or even a petroleum with an adapter if that was your thing. The basic Trangia is pretty good value for money for its flexibility. Anyway, enough waffle. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It is greatly appreciated. Stay safe👍🏼

@@GreenString You're right about the trangia. The thing is, I just cant be bothered with it. For me, I'm happy living off coffee, pot noodles, cup-a-soup, muesli and mars bars ...but mostly coffee ...and there is always the chippy for when all that msg is giving you headaches. But my food group of choice is coffee ...did I mention that? The coffee press that JB make for their stoves is brilliant. I may take something else as well, but I'll always have a jetboil ...and loads of coffee.

I do miss my Trangia kettle. It used to make me feel “civilised” in the mornings making a brew. It’s interesting to find out I’m not the only one that builds together their own cook set. I guess it’s a personal thing but the more you do it the more you understand what works and what doesn’t. I see a lot of videos where they are comparing how fast each stove is at boiling an equal amount of water. Now, apart from the efficiency of less time equals less gas or fluid I cannot see the point. Personally I’m never in a rush when I’m at the campsite and this is where the little Trangia alcohol stove wins and I love it. In the morning you can brew up in silence. My MSR sounds like a Vulcan bomber taking off… it’s mental!

@@GreenString I agree with that and also I cook on my stove. Basic stuff I'll accepts but I don't just boil water. I suppose this is why I carry the full Vango set, as there is always a risk, no matter how slight that I may wish to use both pans and possibly even the tiny frying pan.... no, now I have strayed off into fantasy land, but jetboil type stoves are just no good for me, not least because of the very real danger of Mr Clumsy Oaf kicking his stove and boiling water all over the floor while reaching for a tea bag!

Hi, it’s pretty quick to mount the bags ( even loaded ) the top two buckles are really quick to get into the upper slots, then the bags and weight are supported so you have both hands free. I do agree though, you then have to bend down to feed the lower straps through the mounting plate. This may get annoying for some riders especially if you are staying in hotels where you want to take the bags with you. However I think you will encounter this problem in one form or another with most soft luggage. I camp all of the time so the bags remain on the bike.

Hi, many years ago I did a kit list video but that was with aluminium panniers and a GS. The way I pack has significantly changed since then! I am about to film a video on camping stoves for the adventure biker but that’s not what you need. @silveriojohan Yeah I get what you mean. I have zero regrets going from a GS to a T7. I’ve beaten my T7 to death this year, 20,000 km, 10 countries and I love it more and more. Most of all though every time I swing my leg over it I feel like a Dakar hero😂 even though I’m terrible at off road riding! I guess it what makes you happy that matters most👍🏻 let me know how you get on with your bike choices in the future.

Typical desert temperatures for that time of year. I think the hottest it got was 34 degrees and you’ll notice in the evenings we were in shorts but had warm jackets on, not sure on temperature then but chilly. You could equally have an amazing road trip around Morocco we spent only €200 in Morocco for 7 days riding. Ferries are super cheap but a bit crap…. Oh and temperature on top of the fortress must have been high twenties but very strong winds ( my tripod was blowing over)

Yeah I agree. Riding those bikes on the Trans Euro Trail in Spain is borderline stupid (with our skill level). I did a bit of research before we went on the TET facebook page and was told that the section we did was easy on any bike, and it was in most cases but still you can very quickly get out of your comfort zone. Jason did exceptionally well on the big Honda, the T7 is definitely an easier beast off road than my old GS…alas not easier on my backside on the long motorway sections😂 As always thanks for taking the time to comment, stay safe and keep riding👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, the DCT oil level wasn’t actually low it was empty. Although this was not linked to the braking issue it was one of a couple of fluid levels that were not checked on his service ( by a Honda dealer) prior to departing.

I mean, I’m blaming the Honda dealer for not checking but we had already covered over 1500 km before it became an issue and like you said some of that was off road so I guess the DCT was working hard. It’s difficult to pin point who or what was at fault but it was an easy fix.

@@GreenString interesting.. scary... No warning light for the lack of oil? And if there was no leak... where did the oil go?!

Half way through editing this my hard drive self destructed (my fault) I lost about a months work…I came so close to binning it. Thanks for those kind words, it means a lot. Thanks for your kind words. Mosko Moto seems to be heavily influencing the internet and while I admit there kit looks top notch I’m still convinced the flexibility and simplicity of Kriega wins. I’m still using my base system virtually everyday on my way to work…it brilliant. It also performed brilliantly on a recent trip to North Africa ( video out soon). What bash plate and hand guards did you get? The bike looks great! I just picked up a 24 t7 in the same color, it is a great bike.

Bash plate is from the Yamaha parts catalogue. The hand guards are from Barkbusters. I’m loving the T7, it’s not even a year old and it’s taken me to 10 different countries and I’ve racked up 20,000km already…it’s having a hard life

Thanks for the reply! I was having a hard time finding handguards locally, I just ordered some bark busters from procycle. I appreciate the transfer of knowledge I get from channels like yours. Bash plate is next. The t7 is quite a bit different than my dr650. I feel like I'm on a space shuttle when I ride the yamaha 😂. Do you think that engine guards are a necessity? The bars on the t7 seem to move alot more than the bars on my dr650 and yz250. I'm thinking that the handguards on the t7 wouldn't keep the plastics on the bike from hitting the ground, like my other two bikes. Due to the extra range of motion on the t7. 20,000 km is awesome! I'm looking forward to checking out more of your videos!

Sounds great. Regarding the crash bars…no they are definitely not necessary. The Barkbusters take the hits for you (Trust me, I’ve dropped it enough now). I’ve only got the frontal crash bars fitted so I can attach additional luggage (2x 6ltr Kriega bags). I’m toying with the idea of removing them to reduce unnecessary weight but I generally do long distance riding so the extra weight distribution of kit is helpful. Personally I would go for a plastic bash guard if I was buying again, sacrificial but much lighter than the beefy Yamaha one I have.
