    Even in the north of Italy "Sauerkraut" is a local dish. At least it was sold to me like this from my Italian colleagues in Milano area 😂 I gave up with a petrol burner 25+ years ago, even is was comfortable to drain petrol from the BMW carb. When the bottle and the burner went on fire I felt it was a bit too dangerous. I'm back to gas bottles since then. About the T7 TFT and ABS deactivation: try the LSK ABS dongle. It's just a button to push and I really like it on my EUR4 model. I'm looking forward to the next episode. I hope your tyres are not fully square when you reach the sea to start the real adventure. Happy new year, happy new trails, Bernd 💙💛🏁🤛🏼

      I went out, got an expensive MSR multi fuel stove. It was stinking, dirty and just horrible. It lasted 2 days on a multi week tour. Like you I’m back to gas. I can only imagine using a petrol stove if I ever go on a global year long trip, and that’s not going to happen. My next T7 upgrades are focusing on the standard weight saving measures, battery, exhaust and tail tidy. Considering getting the RTech plastics as well. The dongle will be after that, definitely. I’m done 30,000km on the T7 now and I love it even more now than when it was brand new. Stay safe and keep riding.👍🏼

      @skybluetenere 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GreenStringThe petrol stove is in my 4x4. It works well below 5°C and above 1.000 m altitude just a bit slower than gas. I have a light battery already and the tail tidy from Rtech. It suits my needs better than the once with too many pieces, washers, bolts and nuts. But due to the new indicator position it's maybe not compatible with a high exhaust. The HP Corse SP-1 is a masterpiece of design and quality and I love it's sound. Acerbis 23L tank is on my wish list for a potential 2025 adventure.

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers mate. I don’t think the big bikes are that much of a problem. Rider skill is the problem😂. The thing that get missed a lot (my fault) is in reality we spend 90% of the time on tarmac, crunching the miles, so the big bikes are the best tool for the job. It just means when we go off road it’s way more entertaining…as you’ll see in the fest few videos! Take care mate, stay safe and happy new year.

      It inevitably ends with us demonstrating to the World Wide Web how unpiroficiant we are at riding bikes! I actually had a comment (rant) the other day asking why we don’t take lighter,single cylinder, bikes off road, blah,blah,blah. I genuinely think some people believe we teleport to these off road locations. I had to explain that 98% of the time we are on tarmac travelling at relative high speed. Secondly I have a day job and only have one bike that must multi task as commuter, tourer and off road bike. Sadly we haven’t got a fleet of bikes. Anyway moan over (good start to 2025). Happy new year Neil, and as always, thanks for hanging around this highly polished channel.👍🏼

    What is the purpose of the hot water bottle🤔 You might save some extra kilo keeping it at home😅 One of the cockers as well as the brown crocks are very familiar to me. whats the trans fluid got to do with the rear brakes

    • @GreenString

      Nothing. His rear brake pads were none existent and this transmission fluid was empty. His bike had just had a full service 2 weeks prior to departure after he had specifically requested a thorough check as he was riding to Africa. My friend is not particularly mechanically minded so relies on the Honda service team to do their job…which obviously they did not.

    I think the little tents are great if you are going ultralight, and I mean proper ultralight, and doing the TET etc and the weather is good, but as soon as it rains then they become a bit of a nightmare when you have wet thru jackets/trousers/boots/gloves etc and you trying to dry them out ready for the next day. Weight is paramount and light is right, but the setup has to work and in the UK you are more than likely to have some rain 👍

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I totally agree. I have had lots of people comment saying I'm carrying the wrong kit, I need to go lighter etc, etc. Like you mentioned it depends where you are, the time of year, the likely climate you may encounter on route, which may change dramatically depending on your destination. The list goes on. We are once again hitting Scandinavia next year and I'm going to mix it up a bit by taking a hammock and tarp. As you know it has many advantages over a tent, and just as many disadvantages but in an environment such as Scandinavia I think it has more positives...but it could all end in disaster, time will tell. I believe you can be very comfortable camping with a relative lightweight set up but as you wisely said "It has to work". Have a great time over the festive season and thanks for the comment. Stay safe and keep on riding.

    Everyone’s idea of essentials is different- and if it was me, I’d leave all the Helinox stuff behind. My bag goes down to 0 degrees Celsius and is a third of the size😉 I use a liner for an extra 5 degrees if it’s needed. My new tent will be a Durston XMid 2, which packs down really small, or will be a Mont Hibernator Bivy, plus tarp, both will be around 1kg. The question for people is that “do you ride to camp? Or is camping just the necessary bit because you need to sleep?”

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your absolutely right. It is a very personal choice based on your personal limits, budget and what your willing to put with. I personally could not cope with a sleeping bag that has a limit of 0 degrees (with or without a liner) at least not for the areas we ride in. Our camping season stretches pretty much over 3 seasons. Admittedly it would pack super small it just wouldn’t cut it in our environment. Personally I’m happy with my 10kg luggage weight. I’ve used multiple lightweight sleeping pads, all have punctured over the years, so I’m happy to increase a few pounds knowing the kit won’t let me down in the field. Unless your spending over 12 hours a day in the saddle then your spending the majority of your time in camp and as such I don’t see it so clearly as “ride to camp or camp to ride” it’s whatever works for you. It my case one facilitates the other in equal amounts. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts. It’s very much appreciated. Stay safe and keep riding 👍🏼🎄

    Not sure about having your face hovering to one side of the shot.... bit bloody weird that one.... very disconcerting. 🤣 Nice overnighter. We did something similar at the end of the summer, that will eventually end up on Nightcrawlers channel, brilliant fun to do with a couple of mates. Love Gav's bike.... not that I am biased in any way shape of form. 10 kgs eh? Impressive, I think my Woolworths inflatable lilo weighs about that much.

      Hahaha. Regarding the “face on side shot” well that was me just experimenting with some new software. I agree with you it’s all a bit “gimmicky” but as I was editing a mate said “that looks cool” so I left in against my better judgement. I’m glad you mentioned it as I was hoping it would stir a response either positive or negative and I can always rely on honest opinion from long term subscriber! I won’t be doing it again. Looking forward to that Nightcrawler episode, just finished the last episode from Leigh’s latest adventure, very, very entertaining. Anyway before I forget, have a great Christmas and a safe New year Neil. All the best. Steve & Team Green String👍🏼

    20% more weight and only 10% more power from transalp, i heard. why would you buy a gigantic massive fat and heavy adventure bike, if you do not have the skill to truly put it thorough hell?

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString หลายเดือนก่อน

      I presume you mean the Africa Twin and not the T7? In answer to your question, we’ll that’s simple. We can both only afford 1 bike that has to do everything. The vast majority of the time our bikes are used as commuters to get us to work all year round. So 99% of the time they ride on the road. On our journey to Morocco I would estimate that 85 - 90% of the journey was on tarmac. So, yes I totally agree a lighter bike would have been way better off road but the compromise would have been every where else. Ultimately we had to use the bikes we had. We had a lot of fun and it was a brilliant adventure. The fact we rode those big heavy adventure bikes through the terrain we did just added to the challenge. There is always a better bike for every situation but ultimately the best bike is the one you own and even more importantly it’s the fact we got out there and did it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Stay safe & keep riding 👍🏼

    Really tempted to buy this but would like a review of it in +30 temps. I bought an Alpinestars halo in the spring based on reviews. Very adaptable jacket but heavy and pretty uncomfortable with neck chafing and elbow chafing from the armour. Rode in 35 degrees temp and it wasn't any better than my ancient rst adventure jacket. Very stiff and awkward as well. Really need something super cool in the heat that will also accommodate my kies heated jacket in the winter. Maybe iam asking too much?

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the hottest I have ridden in this is around 20+ degrees so far. I wish I had it earlier in the year when I was in Morocco! I cannot imagine that there is much better in terms of ventilation and protection, that said I haven't put it through any kind of extreme heat test yet but I have ridden with the main zip down and that coupled with the mesh fabric throws huge amounts of air at you. In terms of short term durability, Im still using it virtually everyday. I even rode to work in it this evening (yes I'm actually typing this at work) and I'm impressed. It is very, very comfortable. I doubt I will ever go back to a traditional motorcycle over jacket. As promised I will do a long term review of this jacket in around 12 months time. Sorry I cannot offer any experience of the jacket in hotter climates (yet). Good luck with your ongoing search. Stay safe & keep riding.

Next time I go on a ride out I won’t be filming, it’s just too tedious. Plans are now underway for next year with dates and location (Finland) nearly set in stone. Until then I’m slogging it through winter on the T7 on my daily commute. One more video to edit and I may also revisit the footage from Morocco and make a multi part series, so much stuff didn’t make it into the movie and I think I’d like to tell the full story. Great footage. I, too, would prefer to ride in a smaller group... however, I'm going on a trip to the Picos and Pyrenees next year. The tour guide explained that he operates a last man marker system: 2nd man on the road marks any junction/change of direction, and then falls in front of the last rider. Very reliant on riders doing their turn, but should work for group rides. P.S. if I get lost in Spain, I'll be heading to the Final RV for fish and chips. Well done guys 😉

    • @GreenString
      @GreenString หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be honest, it was a long day and it only takes one person to cock it up, which is exactly what happened. I should have remained as back marker to sweep anybody up but decided to move forward to film the front riders. These two turn of events caused the problem, which, let’s face it, isn’t really a big deal. We all rode the route, it was a fantastic day and everyone was fed. Anyway, I’m a bit jealous of your tour next year. It’s simply stunning there. Solo or in a group it’s going to be amazing.
