Emily Rose Yates | Naturopath, Motherhood, and Resiliency
Emily Rose Yates is an FP doer and Naturopath practicing Functional Patterns for over two years. FP has helped her get back to being an
active mother, and got her through tough periods in her life.
Resiliency is an often ignored part of fitness nowadays. Most
methods advocate for continuing high intensity and mindless
exercise disregarding the effects on the nervous system. FP covers everything from getting out of pain, becoming more athletic, as well as becoming a more resilient human to life's modern stressors.

    Wow, I had a kind of similar experience to Kyle. I broke my elbow badly on black ice. My humerus was driven into my shoulder and my elbow was broken in multiple places. 2019. Ive had to change my exercise methodology as a result. Thats why ive been interested in FP for some time. That being said Naudi and the cult like aspect of FP has consistently kept me away from 'drinking the cool-aide' Some of it makes sense some of it is woo woo stuff. IMO

    @1:32:00 Naudi provides a very weak, full of excuse, apology to Bret for going after him first, as Naudi did.He rationalizes it by saying "I Punch back". He's gone after many trainers in the industry over and over again, first attacking them, then crying when he gets "punched back". He's projecting. What's even more sad is that he comes back to this video 2 years later (see below) and continues to attack Bret. Bret knew that being kind to him would reveal his true character for everyone to see. Naudi you're your own worst enemy. Sit down and get real competent help.

    If it is a functional scoliosis then surfing is by far the culprit here. While all sports are asymmetrical to some degreee, surfing is an extreme example of an asymerical sport. Ive surfed for over 20 years and have a bad scolisis from it. It throws everything out of alignment. At this point i wish i had never surfed. I love it, but i question whether or not it was really wortb it.

They come off sounding like charlatans where they have all the answers and the other guys don't know what they are talking about. I'm sure some of the stuff Naudi is talking about is grounded in truth, but to discount (just about) the entirety of the strength and conditioning body of research on the other side, i think is what gets people upset.

    Lifting is a fundamental human function. People have lifted and carried other people for as long as there have been people. We've also lifted many materials including food. Climbing is fundamental and primal. Little kids make it clear that we're apes. We climbed trees regularly in the forest where I grew up, and on the playgrounds in our current city kids are climbing regularly. Maybe swimming is fundamental.

  • @Arturo_Fonseca
    @Arturo_Fonseca 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @27:00 that is what PT's do with the biopsychosocial model too. It doesn't bother you guys that you bash physical therapy profession who have done the bulk of the research behind what you discuss you use in your training (un trained to do, no less)?

  • @Arturo_Fonseca
    @Arturo_Fonseca 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @23:00 you've identified the mind set of the patient, one wants longer term solution, the other does not, so regardless if you are equipped to bring them longer term solutions, because they're not looking for them, it will be hard for you to provide them. That doesn't mean the acute care you give is just "isolationist" and non integrative, it's what works for them in that moment. If you are able to reach them and continue to progress them to an active lifestyle and ongoing "training" as a PT, that is great too, but yes, many who are co-pay or insurance based will only come to you when they break down. That's not a failure of the therapy, but what they want and are willing to donate and commit to. You said so yourself that those coming for FP are more oriented to overall long term health. That's a huge advantage when you're trying to promote proper active health care.

  • @Arturo_Fonseca
    @Arturo_Fonseca 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Y'all should have just done Gary Gray's 3dMAPS stuff, which is where Naudi got some of his ideas from. They teach you in terms that are easy to understand. No secret sauce stuff and you could have incorporated that into your existing tool box as PT's and improved efficacy rather than throw baby out with bath water.
