This channel was created to share the models, many of them rare, from my father’s collection. He collected tank, plane, car, and other models mainly in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I hope you enjoy seeing them. Many more to come! Subscribe to be notified when new videos are posted.

1967 Tamiya 1/25 German Army 46 Ton Medium Tank Jagdpanther, Remote Control, Kit DR 2008 1800
So far we’ve featured both the 1966 Tamiya 1/25 Panther Remote Control Kit DR 2007 1800 and the 1972 Tamiya 1/25 Jagdpanzer V Jagdpanther Kit DT113. Now we add this 1967 Remote Control Jagdpanther to the list. One of the most remarkable parts of this kit is its artwork. I am amazed at the box art detail. I hope you enjoy it, too!

1969 Tamiya 1/25 Built Russian Medium Tank T-34 Type 85, Kit No. DT109-1200 After filming the Revell T-34, I realized I never posted Dad’s 1/25 Tamiya T-34 so here it is! Luckily, this model is in better shape than its Revell counterpart. 🙂 It is missing the piece of track on the front of the tank and has a little bit of decal wear but as far as I can tell everything else is present and account...

The box boasts five crew figures (which Dad didn’t include in his build), caterpillar tracks (all dry rotted), machine gun (broken off and missing), movable tur...

1969 Built Tamiya 1/35 Kampfpanzer Leopard West German Army Medium Tank, Kit MT125, Motorized This is the kit Dad built the model from back in the late 60s or early 70s. It could be motorized but, of course, Dad didn’t motorize his and the kits he had didn’t include motors. The one handrail is missing on the side. I enjoy the little details of the tools and the wire mesh over the engine. 1984 W...

Have seen these on sale at a local hobby shop in the KCMO area ad in the Indianapolis area. Crazy amount of money wanted for these kits. Nice to actually see one opened up!!
They are pricey, especially the remote control ones. I'm glad Dad bought this one long ago so we can give you a peek at it. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Gotta love the TAMIYA BOX ART I never built any 1/25 Remote Control Kits… They were out of my price range as a little kid…. BUT, I always looked at them when I went to the HOBBY STORE, and Department Stores ( K-Mart ) I bet they were fun to build and move around the ground… The big 1/16th kits are popular now THANKS VINTAGE MODELS ON……. CHRIS 🇺🇸
For Dad, he was just at the right age when he was out of college and working and able to afford these kits. Always appreciate your comments!
I have one but its missing parts, do you know where i could find any?
Sorry, I don't. I guess your best shot would be to pick up another kit inexpensively. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@vintagemilitarymodelkits yea, ive found a couple of them but i wouldn't say its inexpensive
To build or not to build ..
In Dad's case, he built one and kept extra kits. 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is the first 1/25 series model Tank I bought since 1969.
That's great! Thanks for sharing with us.
This is another kit I didn’t build… When I started building models 1970, I had to earn the money to purchase model kits This one was out of my price range… But, when I looked through the J.C. PENNIES CHRISTMAS CATALOG…. These kits were in there…. They were on my CHRISTMAS LIST…. BUT Santa Claus didn’t deliver 🤣😂😅…… TAMIYA makes some great kits I still build the old stuff…….. You have my like 👍 VINTAGE MODELS ON…. CHRIS 🇺🇸
I remember the J.C. Penney's catalog! It was so much fun to go through and mark everything I wanted. Of course, like with you, Santa didn't deliver but a lot of great memories!
Thanks for sharing a look at another Tamiya classic. Tamiya sure did have a strange number system for their armour kits. Tamiya art work back then was great. They new that box art sells kits.
Appreciate your thoughts! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for another review of a classic, Armor kit! These 1/25th scale Tamiya kits are well-detailed, feature individual track links, but suffer from a lack of accessories (though I did notice that in-scale Jerry Cans were provided) needed to build a diorama display. Thanks for sharing this with us! 9th Like.
You're very welcome!
I don't interesting to my country's saddest day(martrys day) but i interesting to this model kits

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
My brother got me that kit in 1970 when he attended the BSA World Jamboree in Japan. Great memories.

That's so cool! Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
Don’t care if it’s BROKE , or missing pieces !!!!!!! I’m imagining what it looked like when your DAD finished it… BET IT LOOKED GREAT !!!!! VINTAGE MODEL ON ……. CHRIS 🇺🇸
Thanks for your encouragement! I figured other modelers understand and still appreciate builds in less than perfect condition.
Plastic card replacements for the elevators?
There's a good idea! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Always love the planes This one was very nice
Thanks! Appreciate you watching and commenting. 🥰
I had the 1971 issue of this kit. It was better than the Revell offering, but not as good as the Hasegawa F-4E, which held the Top Dog position until the next generation of Phantom kits came along. Interestingly, when you said, ". . . this one has problems," I thought you were referring to profile or detail issues, (such as the missing side windows between the canopies.) Considering this build is over half a century old, it's not in too bad shape! 7th Like.
Sorry for any confusion. :-) I love when Dad's builds are still in nearly perfect condition, but the broken ones are also interesting just because of the associated family history and memories. We always appreciate your comments!
I remember building this kit from the MPC Profile Series using the “Sundowner” decals.
Very nice! Thanks for sharing with us.
Also for those times it was very primitive, then they tried to sell it with new decals and versions. But it was only thanks to Fujimi 's Phantom family that we could have good models of this great fighter, also Monogram did a C/D and J version, under the label "Tour of Duty" in the late '80s, good kits, also if sometimes there were some mold errors.
Good to know! Dad built a number of Phantoms and I''m pretty sure a Fujimi is in the collection and will one day be on this channel. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
So a little wear and tear. Almost 60 years old and still mostly intact. It is the memories it brings back that count. Probably 99% of the built models in this condition were assigned to the scrap bin. I wish I had kept some of my early models.
Yep, same sentiment…you know what they say about hindsight…. Although I did hang on to most of the instruction sheets.
Even though the model has problems, it's been fun reminiscing with Dad. I'm glad he kept his! :-)
Hey how’s it going I don’t mean to post this for advertisement but I stumbled across your channel I’m a full-time painter and I was just given over 25 military model boxes as well as military aircraft model planes. If you were interested, please let me know all in great condition all from the 1970s to 1980s keep up the good work on your channel bro.
Hi there! I'm not really interested in adding to Dad's collection at this point, but thank you for the offer. You're a painter! What do you paint?
Nice comparison of the two kits. That Revell is a nice little kit and perfect for someone starting out building models. And it can be made into a excellent display model, as your father did with the kit.
Thank you! I really enjoy the visual size difference. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Your dad is an excellent model builder, and both of these tanks were made into very fine, stand-alone display pieces. If I had the opportunity to build either vintage kit myself; I think I would choose the Revell 1/40th scale kit, since it has the extra (in scale) figures, and build it as a traditional 1970's Diorama in the "School of (Shep) Paine" on a plywood base with Celluclay groundwork and scratch built accessories. Unfortunately, the tracks would likely need to be replaced since it looks like they're literally falling apart from rot. Thanks for sharing this with us. 3rd Like.
Thank you! I knew you'd appreciate the extra figures. :-) I think the Revell also has some nice detail for a smaller tank.
This was cool 😎…. Look at the size difference SCALE…… Both look pretty good !!!!!!!!! Both would be just fine in a street fighting DIORAMA Vintage Models On ….. CHRIS 🇺🇸
Thanks, Chris!
Nice job !
Thank you!

WHAT ????? I already seen this !!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU STILL HAVE MY LIKE 👍
Yep - I always make a Short of the previous week's model. Some people really prefer that format and most of the hard work (cleaning the model, pictures and video) is already done so it doesn't take too much more time. We appreciate you watching both formats!
Pity that in the 'nam it showed how flawed were either the main weapon and its armour, too vulnerable to mines, plus had a LOT of mechanical problems. The tank had a beautiful futuristic aspect, it's well detailed for such an old kit.
The tank definitely had a unique appearance. Thanks for watching and commenting!
These two were the last versions build of this tank, the one with the short 7,5 cm. howitzer (the same on early PzIVs) was sold in some numbers also to Italy, to replace our losses in N: Africa, but seems that weren't operative 'till the armistice. Beautiful model, for its age was very detailed, and was anticipating the high quality of the future Tamiya's kits.
You really know your tanks! Thanks for sharing the information.
It was re-issued in late '70s without the engine , I build it in early '80s, with some Italeri's crewmen. Nevetherless its age, it was a good kit, useful for start a collection.
Thanks for sharing with us!
The US light tank wasn't never produced, sadly, 'cause someone in the congress wanted that the army should've build its anphibious tank, or so I read, ironically the PT76 wasn't able to resist to bullets heavier than .30. I didn't knew that these models existed, they seems interesting, pity that they were done in not standard scale, but could be useful for scratchbuild some sci-fi tank, as for WH40k.
Interesting facts! Thanks for sharing. I know these weren't popular kits, but I really like them because they are so different.
Strange scale, perhaps it was more easy to place the engine and the RC unit.
Appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching!
The turret seems a bit narrow, more similar to that of later T34/76 models, Once, there were a lot of strange scales, also in the same brand, expecially for US' producers, such as Revell and Monogram .
That's a good observation. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Your father did an excellent build on this kit; especially the rust patina weathering. I also heard that same story about Soviet T-34's going straight from the factory to the front lines without the usual overall 4B0 green paint. Your dad really made the point with this build! Speaking of weathering; are you sure the "decal wear" actually IS 'wear,' or is it part of your dad's excellent weathering job on this masterpiece? Also, is it possible that the lack of spare track (and pioneering tools like shovel, hatchet, saw, etc.,) is part of the idea your dad wanted to get across for this project? This really does look like a tank that was driven straight from the factory to the front with the idea in mind that its 'career' on the battlefield would most likely be a short one . . . . Thanks for sharing! 7th Like.
Thank you! I really like the color and the "why" behind it. I'll have to ask Dad if that's what he was trying for but my guess is that the parts have been lost and damaged due to time and possibly various cats and kids. 😉
@@vintagemilitarymodelkits I don't remember offhand if the T-34's at Stalingrad going from the factory to the front sans paint were of the "76" or "85" variety. (I want to say they were "76's.") but looking at your father's model, it doesn't look like anything had "broken-off" where it had been previously attached. I don't see any glue marks marring the finish where the spare track links on the bow and the pioneering tools on the side would have been attached. (You'll note that at 0:24, the V-shaped bracket on the hull below the turret for the two-man saw is empty, as well.) I have to think this was a decision made when the model was built. That said, the decals - albeit chipped at places - look a bit too neat and otherwise pristine for a rush job. I might even question of these legendary factory-to-front tanks wore any markings at all. Still, I think your dad did an excellent weathering job on this model, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his finished work on your channel.
Another excellent build. The rust colour actually looks a lot better than the Russian green. The model really stands out.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
From 1/40 to 1/25 T-34 / 85 Another well made TAMIYA MODEL…… I think your father would really get into the 1/16 kits they’re making now …. Anyways, YOU HAVE MY LIKE 👍 VINTAGE MODELS ON CHRIS 🇺🇸
Hi Chris! Dad has watched some videos about the 1/16ths but his problem with the larger models was where do you store them? They definitely take up some room. :-) Have you made any 1/16 kits?
I seen the full video… Would’ve liked to meet your dad Exchange ideas, talked models And the hobby overall ??????? It’s good that you’re doing this VINTAGE MODELS ON ……… CHRIS 🇺🇸
Hi Chris - Dad is 84 and he has an amazing memory especially when it comes to models. Maybe we can do a livestream sometime. That would be fun!
The worst tank ever !
Did you build this one? I'm curious - what didn't you like about it?
What song is the background music?
The title is "Glass" by Anno Domini Beats. It's one of the "attribution not required" songs available on TH-cam.
Favorite Tank 🎉
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I loved this kit and built it in 1983 complete with the working motor. It was the first tank I taught myself to weather and "shadow." I thought it came out really good, especially for back then. Sadly, it got left behind at home when I moved out of state and my sister threw it out when my Dad had to be moved to a nursing home.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about the fate of your model. I bet it looked really nice.
@@vintagemilitarymodelkits Thank you!
That was a solid kit back in the day.
It did build a nice little tank. :-) Thanks for watching and commenting!

This is a great example of a kit from the Cold War era. It's unfortunate that dry-rot is claiming the tracks. Replacing them would be out of the question, since available 1/35th aftermarket tracks would be too big for this vintage, 1/40th scale kit. (I have a similar problem with a 1/48th scale Aurora King Tiger - the vinyl tracks are literally falling apart when I touch them, but replacing them with state-of-the-art aftermarket tracks would look stylistically out-of-place on a 1970's vintage kit, with roots in the late 1950's . . . .) I suppose someone could scan a 'good' section of the old, kit tracks and 3D Print suitable replacements, but does anyone know how to preserve "vintage vinyl" model tank tracks, or to keep them from further deterioration? Thanks for sharing this, your dad did a very good job! 12th Like.
Silicone spray (or even ArmorAll) should retard the oxidation of the old rubber/vinyl tracks. Like the idea of 3D printing. Certainly for an odd size.
@@bruceblackerby3742 Thanks. It's too late for my Aurora King Tiger, but I'll keep that in mind if I find one of these classic Revell T-34's at a swap meet or garage sale. Hopefully, Atlantis has the tooling, and will repop this legacy kit using a more modern material for the tracks. (I'd like to give this kit a classic, Old-School Shep Paine diorama treatment, using materials and techniques from the early 1970's.) Of course, if silicone or ArmorAll is used, painting the tracks isn't an option. As a sidebar, I remember seeing an article in Scale Auto Magazine where they focused on "Survivors" - built model cars, many of them contest winners - from the early 1960's through the 1990's. (A model had to be over 20 years old to fit the definition.) A few of these suffered from vinyl tires that had literally 'melted' over the decades. This was a shame to see these old masterpieces in such condition.
Appreciate the compliment. Dad also built a bunch of Aurora tanks and the tracks are falling apart as well as some car kits that you mentioned below with the melted tires. Tamiya tank tracks seemed to have mainly held up except the static set of tracks in the 1/35 Hunting Tiger. Dad had around 10 of those kits and most of the tracks were dry rotted.
This is fabulous. As a child I built that kit maybe a few years after it came out. I think I brush painted it totally green out of a testors paint bottle. Thanks for letting me see it again.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
Turned into a nice little build. Possible to scratch build a machine gun and perhaps some tracks could be substituted. ANd it is in great shape for a build over 60 years old. Thanks for sharing.
Good ideas. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I built one of these in the late 60's when I was in high school, along with the Duster Twin 40. They were reissued by Revell not many years ago with the original box art, along with a few other Renwal armor kits. Renwal kits had a lot of itty-bitty parts to make the functioning hatches and doors. They advertised that their kits were designed to minimize visible glue seams.
Interesting Renwal history. Thanks for watching and sharing with us!
That is a ODD SCALE 1/40 Never built this kit , not even sure if I’ve seen it the shelves in HOBBY STORES or DEPARTMENT STORES….. Well it least it had basic DETAILS… Scares me, I still have some Vintage Armor kits in the stash Hope the tracks are still good…… You always get my LIKE 👍 CHRIS 🇺🇸
Some of the kits definitely age better than others. Thanks so much for watching and sharing with us!
Keep models out of direct sunlight. UV will destroy decals, rubber, and discolor and weaken unpainted plastics, making them brittle over time.
Thanks for the tips, Bruce! Dad's models have been stored in the basement which brings its own set of challenges.
Decals can be replaced. Broken/lost parts can be scratchbuilt. Tracks are replaceable too. Vintage kits are great challenges to a modelers MOJO. Bill
Thanks for the tips! I know there are modelers out there that enjoy restoring old builds. A friend of mine regularly picks them up cheaply on eBay and repairs and repaints them so they look new again.
YES, I’ve experienced everything you showed…. I have been buying VINTAGE MONOGRAM KITS off €Bay lately Kits produced in the early 70s The kits themselves are in great shape….
