I had many of those as a kid. I especially remember the transparent P-51on the motor stand for operating the gear while the prop motor was in the engine block. That one was my favorite.

I wish Dad had built that one but he never did. It's definitely a cool model!

I’m a big fan of Monogram. The “dream kits” of my youth….. I’m lucky enough to have found several of them via ebay and enjoying building them.

This was as amazing as it was nostalgic!
Recently, our local hobby shop bought a collection from an estate sale, and I was able to buy several of these vintage Monogram kits in your montage, including the A-1E Skyraider, the P-39 Airacobra, the A-7 and F-111 (both remade Aurora kits), the T-28D, and the F-4J for very reasonable prices (though nowhere near the vintage prices shown on the boxes!)
Interestingly, according to Scalemates, the A-5A Vigilante from Monogram is actually 1/79th scale; even though the box says 1/72nd.
As a sidebar, I recently got the paperback for Joseph Heller's "Catch-22" that features artwork showing parts from the Monogram 1/68th scale B-25 Mitchell “Big Cannon” Plane, (though Yossarian and Co. flew the B-25J with the glazed nose . . . .)
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Very very nice. Hard to believe how many of these I built as a kid. Too bad so many moves over the years back then also prevented them from staying around. Fun times though!

Monogram was one of the best model companies back in the day. I still have some that were shown but haven’t assembled yet. You can still find new issues of some of these under the Revell brand. Our local Hobby Lobby had the F4U-4 available. I wonder if and when they’ll release others like the F4F Wildcat, F6F Hellcat, SBD Dauntless, etc. sure hope they do.

I saw Revell models in Hobby Lobby, too and was surprised to see them. I'm glad they're still out there.

    I actually watched this a few times…
I grew up building MONOGRAM KITS…
Just finished the 1/48 ZERO, bought at a toy fair for $5.00, still in the Blue Border Box + Artwork
Just bought the 1/48 HAWKER HURRICANE off €Bay in the
    BBB + Artwork…
The MONOGRAM Kits ( to me ) were the best in 1970s when I started building models…
The working details made the kits
    Retracting landing gear
    Folding Wings, Dropping Bombs
    They were Fragile for sure….
Built a AIRCRAFT CARRIER out of scrap lumber, had a whole carrier Air Wing with MONOGRAM PLANES…
    DAUNTLESS, WILDCAT, AVENGER
    HELLCAT…
    I still build MONOGRAM KITS
Building them straight from the box , with minor details…
    PAINTING them Better….
Glad I just bought the HURRICANE
    This video really INSPIRED ME

I loved monograms 1/48 series, too! I built many of them, and had them "dogfighting" from fishing line hanging from my bedroom ceiling!😉

Some kit companies still haven't come up the the quality of those old Monogram kits. They just add more parts.

I built a lot of model kits over the years. There kits I thought were better than revell in some respects. Revell had a lot of cool dragsters and funny cars in the late 60s early 70s.
