Awesome, you should calibrate every 6-8 months. Yes it can be outside of the water. Hopefully you never have to replace the cell, but the warranty on it is 3 years.

Salt all the way. If you have a hot tub that is built for a salt system it will not corode. If you add salt to a tub that doesn't have a 24 hour circulation pump or a titanium heater you are asking for problems. The most importat thing to decide when it comes to buying a hot tub is do you like the dealer you are buying the tub from. They are the ones that have to take care of you when you have problems and if they tell you somehting they should stand behind their product. Do your homework on the dealer first. You will love being a hot tub owner!!

Only salt water but it is important that you are using stain and scale control.

I would contact your dealer they may be under warranty. But typically those jets have to be replaced

If you are on a salt system you need to be below 75 ppm for the systme to work properly in my marked it is mandatory. but yes it depedns on your baseline

Oh my…. You must drain that immediately! Hose it down. Fill it back up dispose of the filter. Purge it and drain it again. Fill it up again and super chlorinate it…. Use like a cup of chlorine. Run for 24 hours drain again and start it back up. Take a sample to the local pool store before using it. This is very dangerous and you need to deal with it immediately

Especially if you have the new Freswater IQ. That technology does not like the rapid increase that you get in the chlorine when you shock. When you boost you are increasing that chlorine at a much slower pace allowing your breakpoint chlorine to happen slowly breaking apart those chloramines. The whole point of the salt system is to use less chlorine and shock thus adding less total dissolved solids allowing you to keep that water longer.

@@TheHotTubLady Actually no, I did just recently get one so have I been spending a lot of time at YT university. I think my preference will be the three filter rotation method. One in service with weekly rinses and monthly changes, one in a soak/rinse/dry and one on the shelf clean and ready. I am a heavy user at this point so if that lessens I will certainly extend the change intervals. Also I was not knocking the idea of using a dishwasher, I just would not want to use mine for filters AND my dishware.

Ther are other options then chlorine but sanitizer is important when purchasing a hot tub.

Which tub did you get and is it all seats or just the lounge

Oh that’s a bummer. What is your starting level of tds? What is your salt level? Are you using the on-the-go water softener? I hope you are getting answers

So, after a drain & fill, our starting tds is 2500 and salt is perfect at 1750. We realized that the tds was from adding salt. Our starting point is 250 (200 salt from softner) We do not use an on the go as we have a water filtration system with a softner so it wasn't necessary. Only thing to adjust is ph, starts at 8.

In regards to Watkins recommendations on using the boost function, am I supposed to still use SpaGuard Spa Shock-oxidizer once a week? Or just use the boost?

The paper filters should not go in the dishwasher. On soaking the filters you can do what’s convent for you either way is fine…. I’m lazy so I just let mine soak but you can just let em soak for 24 hours and let them dry as well

It does adjust the alkalinity through the pH. If you would like to know exactly what the alkalinity is you will need to test. If you are on a chlorine system your Orp should be between 450-600

Thanks so much for the reply. I don’t remember if I ever wrote it, but I use the FrogEase sanitation system along with adding Spa Marvel at each refill. My ORP is always lower than 450 mV, even with the Frog set on #3 for dispensing. I’ve contacted both Spa Marvel and Frog Ease support. Spa Marvel tells me I should set the Frog on setting #1 and the Frog people tell me that the free chlorine level should be between .50 and 1.00 parts per million, which is much less than the recommendation for my pool (between 1 and 3 ppm). It’s my understanding that the whole idea behind Spa Marvel is to actually use less chlorine. My last free chlorine reading in the hot tub was .2 ppm and the ORP at 435 mV. I wasn’t comfortable with such a low FC level, so I turned up the Frog setting to 3.

Absolutely not. There are thousands of salt water hot tubs that have been in the market for over 20 years now.

So the level is how much chlorine you are making not how much salt is in the water. High salt reading on the tub is 99% needing a new cartridge. What is the reading on the salt test strip? Not the hot tub? If higher then 1750 probably need to do a partial drain

Sorry you had this experience. How old was your tub? It does have a 7 year warranty against leaks

Wasn’t aware that they were selling them…. It is a week built tub. I am not a fan of the exchangeable pacs as no one ever upgrades. And well it’s just one more place for mold and bacteria to grow because no one cleans behind them. As I always say your dealer and the support you get is more important then the brand if you trust the dealer and you have a good relationship you will be fine

Personally it adds $30 a month to my bill
