Hello, my name is Dave and welcome to the channel. DAB DIY documents our journey through the process of self teaching DIY mechanics and other DIY related tasks around the house and the garden. Along the way, my wife will feature on the channel and show some of her DIY projects and to demonstrate how she learns by doing. This is my way of recording our learning process and show progress on our projects. We have been doing this offline for a while now, so we thought it is time to start sharing it with anyone who is interested. These videos are not intended to be a 'how to' guide and is for entertainment purposes only. I hope you enjoy the content and find it helpful for your own projects. Please feel free to watch, like, comment and share what you see.

Mission Motorsport track day at Three Sisters in Project C1
Today, for the final time this year, I put #projectc1 through it's paces on track at Three Sisters in Wigan with Mission Motorsport. In exchange for volunteering my car, time and fuel, I have the honour and privilege to take charity beneficiaries out on track to experience what it is like to be on track in a car, an experience that they would likely never have if not for the charity. I've put a lot of time, effort and money into my C1, as you've all seen on my playlist, so it's great to see how it performs against other cars on track and versus what it was like at the beginning of the year. The Bilstien shocks and Apex lowering springs really help the handling and as soon as they get warm, the Nankang AS1 tyres stick really well. I'm so thankful to Mission Motorsport for the opportunity to go on track and for the opportunity to take my fellow veterans and service leavers out on track to experience the thrill that is motorsport. Great opportunity to show off my sponsors on track too, TSA Performance, Form 7 Performance, X8R Mishimoto and Blossom Automotive.

Porsche Boxster 986 roof not working investigation
มุมมอง 119หลายเดือนก่อน
In today’s video, Kayne is investigating why his electric folding convertible roof doesn’t work on his 1997 Porsche Boxster 986. We narrowed the problem down to the drive cogs running beyond their stop point and coming off the drive motor. We tested both front and rear micro switches and determined that it was the rear micro switch, the one that tells the system that the clamshell is open or cl...
Upgraded door card, speakers and Tweeter install - C1/107/Aygo
มุมมอง 9442 หลายเดือนก่อน
In today’s video, I’m removing the factory fitted door cards and upgrading them with those from a higher spec model, one that comes with door speakers from the factory. I’m also adding some Alpine tweeters in the A pillars too, in the same style as the higher spec model would have done, but the tweeters will be of better quality. The first thing I did was actually off camera. I used an 8mm dril...
1997 Porsche Boxster 986 rear brake pads and discs
มุมมอง 1002 หลายเดือนก่อน
In today’s video, Kayne is installing new rear brake discs and pads on his 1997 Porsche Boxster 986. In order to do this, you’ll need to remove the wheel to gain access to the braking components. Once there, remove the Brembo brake pad retaining pin by removing the R clip and tapping it out with a hammer and punch. It took us a little while to do this because the pin had corroded in, but it was...
Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 HDi full service
มุมมอง 5053 หลายเดือนก่อน
In today’s video, I’m carrying out a full service on my mum’s Citroen C3 Picasso 1.6 HDi. The vehicle is new to her (replaces that awful Clio, previously seen on this channel) and got it at a good price because it needs some work doing. When I took this for a test drive, I noticed that it is overdue a service by just over 4,000 miles, so it definitely needs a service! I sourced all of my parts ...
Project C1 gets forged carbon wrapped doors
มุมมอง 7553 หลายเดือนก่อน
In today’s video, I’m removing the factory black vinyl wrap from the doors and replacing it with some shiny forged carbon look vinyl wrap. This is a strange one for me because I thoroughly believe that all carbon fibre wrap needs to be killed with fire, but I figured its better than the faded flat black factory wrap, so let’s give it a go. Its also a learning opportunity for me too, I’ve never ...
Unclogging a C3 Picasso scuttle drain

In today’s video, I’m unclogging the windscreen scuttle drain on my mum’s Citroen C3 Picasso. The vehicle is new to her (replaces that awful Clio, previously seen on this channel) and got it at a good price because it needs some work doing. When I took this for a test drive, I notices a water sloshing noise, not too dissimilar to that in the back of the Mk 2 C1 spoiler, so I knew water was gett...
Dodge Ram 1500 front brake discs and pads

In today’s video, Kayne is installing new front brake discs and pads on his 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. All parts were ordered from Rock Auto, they do not sponsor this video or the channel. In order to do this, you’ll need to remove the wheel to gain access to the braking components. Once there, remove the calliper using a 13mm socket (honestly, I’m really surprised that everything on this truck is me...

Project C1 gets 25mm spacers and wheel arch extensions
Thank you very much indeed! Your instructions gave me the confidence to tackle this issue myself. The hardest thing was actually releasing the Indicator housing from the steering column. It didn't want to move despite fully compressing the spring clip. Disassembling and reassembling the Indicator housing itself was easier than I thought it would be, but I certainly would not have attempted it without your help. I managed to clean everything up and get it back together and the right-hand indicator is now back working as it should. Not sure how long it will last but the copper contacts didn't look too bad at all after a clean and polish. Certainly worth doing if like me you have an indicator stalk with the additional front fog light switch position as these appear far more expensive than the standard stalks that come with rear fog only, and are also harder to come by!
I’m glad you found the video useful! It’s always best to stick with the OEM parts if you can, especially the rare ones.
Hey, butyl mat is always laid "in an overlap". You left a lot of acoustic bridges. The effect is probably worse than it could be. Secondly - butyl mat gives very good effects only in combination with a second layer - rubber mat. It is really worth adding this layer. Thank you for your channel - your hobby is a huge help for me. Thanks to you I started improving my C1 ;)
I had considered the second layer as you describe, but it’s a little thick and makes refitting the carpet awkward. This is more of a ‘something is better than nothing’ approach
Ja , dikke !! RRRRR , RRRRR
awesome repair! I have rusty sills on my C4 Grand Picasso.
This video is good but did you know you can remove the old metal piece from the wiper arm mechanism instead of having to remove anything from the new arm.
I know that now, yes. Besides, I removed the wiper entirely anyway. Got a glass bung for the rear window and removed the wiper, I never really used it.
Good Concept! Makes me wanna retrofit an armrest from another Toyota! Yaris, Fit etc.
Do it! Show us how you do it too, I’d love to see the finished product
I put in led but thT blew my fuze. Any reason why
Yes, they’re incompatible for the most part. I had the same problem, so I went back to regular bulbs.
You say whoops you should wear a mask but ae spraying in the house😂😂😂😂. How's your health 3 years on lol
To be fair, that room was well ventilated! Health is fine. Well, respiratory health anyway, the nerve damage is a totally different story 😅
Thanks bud, always good to have a glance at a manual or in this case a video before cracking on 👍
Hello there, just a quick question. With the rear red lights does it matter which lamps you use as it has to appear both a night light and brake light, will any red LED with the correct bayonet fitting do the job?
It’s got to be the correct type of lamp, one with a tail and a stop light built in.
Ευχαριστώ φίλε από Ελλάδα ♥️🇬🇷
Very helpful video thank you :) Should I also cover the serpentine belt?
You can if you want, but I didn’t. It’s open to the elements anyway, so I didn’t bother
Brilliant video, easy to follow with no mucking around, even included the cap replacement. Saved me from searching for hours for a proper tutorial!
I’m glad the video helped you!
Thanks you for your vid, great explication but the original front speaker had the advantage to be equipped with a foam all aroud . This foam pressed on the plastic grill and isolated the front side of the speaker from his bottom side . Without isolation (front from bottom) NONE SPEAKER will reproduce even just little bass .. To all , please check if there is a "leak" around your speakers -> the sound will be better
That escalated rather quickly 😁
A tube of silicone will do the job just as well. I wanted to try something different.
Where did you get the smd's? What size are they?
I got them on eBay, but I don’t have a link for them, I’m sorry.
Hey. Have you ever removed the headliner in your C1? If so, is it easy?
No, it’s glued in. I’d love to do it, but it seems too much of a faff
Hello, are the correct bulbs size 18mm x 5mm ?
I’m not sure about the physical size, but that sounds about right. The ones I used were T5 Capless bulbs, that’s all the information that I know for certain.
If the LED is lit, but the de-mister is not working, the fuse shouldn't be the issue, right?
I would guess at that being correct, yes. It’s more likely to be the connection to the demister lines in that case.
@@DABDIY Thank you very much for the quick response. I will check the connection and otherwise just get a used window with a working de-mister for 25 euros. Have a good evening, cheers.
Hi at 3:43 i see you have a piece of rubber inbetween the shocks. What is it for and where can i get it?
It’s a spring helper, it stiffens the rear end up by taking some travel out of the spring. Particularly useful for track day use.
@DABDIY okay thank you for the quick reply!! Think it would be great to use for my daily 107? I already have musketier lowering springs. Or would it be to stiff then?
@yanickheber9417 it purely depends on how stiff you need the back end of the car though. I like mine really rigid for track use.
Okay I will think about it. Now that we are messaging i got one last question. Do you by any chance have bucket seats installed in your C1? If so which ones do you have? Because I would love to have a set of buckets in my 107 for better comfort
@yanickheber9417 I don’t, I’m on factory installed seats
Shouldn't the DRL's go out when the lights are turned on?
They act as side lights
@@DABDIY surely they are too bright as after dark side lights as DRL's are 21w and sidelights are 5w? all cars with DRL's as standard switch off when the lights go on.
Barely noticeable after dark, with the headlights on. They only really come into their own at night when you use them as indicators.
I did the spare wheel well and rear wheel arches on my 107 a couple of weeks ago and it has helped. I'm far too disabled to do what you have achieved here but I do want to do the engine bulkhead to reduce the noise .
I did my bulkhead when I changed the engine. I took the opportunity while I had the access, it’s been beneficial. I want to remove the whole dash and do the inside of the firewall though, that’d likely work better.
@@DABDIY Thank you for your reply. I'm far too dumb to take anything apart on my car but I do want to make it quieter.
You’d be surprised how easy it actually is with these cars
When you file the caliper clean, you can put the lubricant down where those metal thingies go on, and then add a little on top the metal thingies when they’re set in place to have the pad slide in easier. Just a little tip to anyone!
Can you give Aliexpress link for soundproof panel?
Sorry, I don’t have the link anymore. Should be easy enough to find though.
@@DABDIY ok thanks, do u remember thickness in millimeters? like 5/7/10/20?
I think mine was a little less than 5mm tbh. You don’t want to go too thin though, the carpet won’t fit back in properly otherwise
Olha que já passei por este problema duas vezes, este vídeo me ajudou a resolver. Sou grato!
I’m glad it worked for you!
Great video... and helpful! When i removed my plastic trim - COWL AIR INTAKE GRILLE i just removed - it was a bit tricky, like it was stuck, but i couldnt find any fasteners or clips. When to get it back again it will not "be stuck on place" it want to fall down a bit from the windscreen. Hot did you get your cowl in place?
When I refitted it, it was the opposite of removal. It pushed back into place and secured back in place as shown on the removal process
I had 2 first generation Citroen C1's which were riddled with leaks. The mark 2 trio of cars arent any better clearly. What a disgrace Toyota,Peugeot and Citroen are still making shit cars to an unsuspecting public....
They’re a vast improvement over the Mk1
Did it work ?
For the most part, yes. If we’d have used a better, outdoor rated, silicone product, it would have worked better. As it stands and because we used the wrong kind of silicone (indoor only), it perished and had to be re-done with an outdoor rated silicone sealer. Since then, it’s been spot on.
I did the repair, it worked, but unfortunately, it only lasted 4 months. In the end, I replaced the part with a new one. But still I want to thank you for the effort because I did enjoy repairing it at first!
Sometimes a repair doesn’t work, but it’s always worth a shot, even if it gets you out of an immediate problem.
The *ENGLISH* word is _replaced_ The phrase _switched out_ is for fúçkw!t Americans!
Better to swap all all spark plugs and coils not just one
I decided to swap coil packs because these are the common causes for a misfire on these cars. I swapped one to show the procedure, not the full diagnostic.
thank u for the detail vid , helped me a lot !
Just this year rebonded my xc70 p3 2008. It still has its original glass from new at 16 years old now. They actually had a recall on these because it is a safety concern obviously, but my local dealer told me that a 2008 model year does not apply for the recall even though it had the exact problem of the glass debonding. Strangely enough- mine did not leak, but i could easily lift it up in the middle by about 3-4 mm without much force at all.
Oddly the C1 with no back box sounds better! 😂
As much as I’d love to agree, nothing beats the sound of a flat 6 😍
I guess tomorrow is my day doing this...but i will go from the bottom.
2nd time doing this in 1year. Thanks again for uploading. Great resource for those about to undertake the task. 👍
Guessing that the arm splitting on the spindle is a design fault, same happened to mine. Thought it was vandalism when the arm was drooped down but it now looks like a mix of weak design and age & wear.
Pretty much, yeah. Knurled metal insert into a plastic arm, the plastic will eventually always lose that battle.
Finally replaced the arm, had to use a Nut Splitter tool to get the rusted on nut & old arm aluminium bush off as they were so badly seized on, and using brute force would have wrecked the wiper mechanism. Nice to have a clear rear windscreen again though.
Wow nice explanation you need to push the clips on side of the connector to loose it from the front to loose the 2 big on the side cant push all away to get it to loose. I try to push the two big on the sides and they didnt get them on top away or rhe side. Be careful to not destroy the clips.
Sir, my Aygo’s check engine light bulb does not come on. Is it possible to replace that? Or is it an led soldered on the board?
To the best of my knowledge, they’re all surface mounted diodes.
@ Thank you very much. Keep up the great content!
Hi what tints did you do on the back and rear windows?
5% limo black
Hi , I'm having trouble with the rear fog light, I guess if I clean inside like you it should work? It's not the light as power going to it .. thanks for the video 😁
It’s certainly worth a try!
Thanks for this - I spotted the cheeky gasket switch on the aeriel after the fade out/in - I realised you hadn't cut it big enough! (20:11). You can buy new aeriel mounts cheaply from Toyota too - about 12 quid I think!
The one I installed is still wing fine to this day
🇨🇦 Does it fit an ‘07?
I would imagine so
A. Vary poor start up moving the distributor’s at will not done static timing and giving the starter a hammering not impressed
Thanks for your input… it’s still running fine though 🤷🏼♂️
Did you get it?
Very cool!
Perfect fix thanks Dan I tested fan by running and putting on air con, check wires and took off the sensor and it was bit corroded... Went on eBay hundreds of them for £10-20 order new one 👌👍🏻 thanks to your video I've invested 11 mins so far and predicted fitting time 4-6 mins 😂
I’m glad the video helped!
Certainly did @@DABDIY ironically my OBD read " two codes fan speed low " that was on I car soft and on snapon said " fan assembly fault " 😂 so ofcourse I'll await the new part fit and clear and drive to be 100% sure but it seems like it's another deliberate failure design to sell plastic parts with springs for £45+ vat a pop and £90 labour to find out ...they just want people back in the dealerships ...all deliberate
Was that clip full speed! 😂 Hope you had a great day. 👍
Under braking for the first corner, but recorded in slow motion. I was chasing that black Porsche all round the twisty bits, but he absolutely left me in his dust on the straight 😅
Where's the rest of the video?😢
@rentrentrentlettings4178 I was reliant on other people, didn’t anticipate recording anything today. I’ll make a full length video next time 🤙🏻
Hi I have an aygo mk 2 similar problem same brake light water ingresses from same place ‘ I sealed from out side but don’t think it’s done the job properly, made a few attempts to take it out but no avail , did this sort your problem out ??
Sorted it brilliantly
